India, Bharat or Hindustan whatever you call it, this beautiful motherland of mine, is a lesson in unity in diversity. Okay, it may be a little on the rocks, but all relationships go through their ups and downs. Doesn’t mean we can’t repair the broken parts. But intentions from all sides must be towards the same goal. I love my country. I adore the variety of natural food, people and clothes offer.
When I lived in Delhi, I loved visiting all the food stalls at Dilli Haat. I loved the Rajasthani thali with moong daal ka halwa.I loved the Jalojog stall selling all things home. I loved Idli dosa and the Gujarati chaat. I liked Malabar parathas, Hyderabadi Biryani, and the northeastern momos and dumplings. Food in India is a tapestry of deliciousness.
When I first read India’s history in school, I realized it was a beautiful melting pot of cultures, thoughts, and religions. I am a woman born in Independent India and in West Bengal. Growing up I was never told, I can’t do this or that. The only time my mum regretted not having a son(at least that’s what she said). was when things had to be bought late at night. Even then, it wasn’t safe to be out late at night. But strangely enough, I managed to grow up and become a doctor, coming home late at night without any major scares. The scare however now is significant. Not only because I am a woman, but I am a doctor. Every second someone is harassing a woman or beating up a doctor. Can anyone do any work when there’s a risk to life?
On a lighter note, this is our #Thankful Thursdays. Counting blessings make me feel more at peace. I feel thankful , that I had the independence to study what I wanted, with gender not being a deterrent.
I am glad can drive a car and have a license. Many countries in the world don’t allow females to drive.
I am glad I have a right in every decision in my marriage and my marital status, is in no way controlled by the state or by religious police.
I am glad I have a right to vote. Women still fight for that right in some countries.
I am glad our country is secular and appreciates the truth about the right to practice all religions.
I am also glad my countrymen are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in.
Simple things which we take for granted, don’t but important for those don’t enjoy the same privileges. It’s easy to ask for our rights, what’s difficult is doing our duties. Focussing on the nays makes them stronger, so I consciously decide to focus on the good.
Writing this for #Thankful Thursdays. What makes you thankful for your country? Comment below to let me know.

Update Amazon’s Alexa rank disappeared and so did my friend Alexa blogging challenge .So right now theres no Alexa rank .On May 1, 2022, Amazon shut down Alexa Internet and subsequently discontinued Alexa Rank.
It’s time for MyfriendAlexa again. Oh if you don’t know what am I talking about, I will go back to when it all started. Back in 2016, I was pretty clueless. I read a lot of blogs and books but was living under a rock, when it came to the Indian Blogging scene. Then one day by Gods grace I had stumbled upon something called Half marathon by Blogchatter and also signed up for something called the MyFriendALexa! But this challenge has nothing to do with the Amazon Alexa devices. But it does have something to do with the Alexa rank of a blog.
Can you cheat the Alexa rank?
Content creators are forever trying to drive traffic to their blogs. Alexa claims to account for all controversial practices of skewering the rank. The better you get at fudging data, the better are their AI.
Why I participate in My Friend Alexa
It pushes me, inspires me and gets my writing inertia all pumped up. In all the years, I have participated in this challenge I have always learned something new. I have even written a book about blogging challenges including My friend Alexa.
It’s serious fun. Serious because it’s not for the faint-hearted and definitely not for anyone who is blogging to relax. MFA is not going to help you relax! Know this beforehand so that you can avoid stressing later /Its very important to know what you want from your blogging journey. Personal satisfaction by writing and sharing has nothing to do with numbers but if you want to help people through your words then numbers help you know whether you are going in the right direction.
Number 2
Its great discipline to read and write regularly. You find a new readership for your blog. Blogchatter actively promotes the hashtag and your blog posts get a fresh set of eyes. The Blogchatter team is exceptional in its community-building effort and is easily one of the best around.
The resources they share inside the FB group often has high profile experts giving super tips which are hard to get.
Number 4
Your Alexa rank becomes better and is a great boost to morale. The best part is when someone wants to work with and checking your Alexa its a good way of knowing what kind of traffic numbers you have. It’s also a great way of knowing a little about the blog you are reading.
Blogging in India
For this, you do need the Alexa toolbar installed on your browser though. If you writing good content, optimizing them and promoting your blogs posts your Alexa will already bye good. But we all have scope for improvement, right? Its always good to have different stats for comparison.

In all the drama about Jammu and Kashmir, everyone forgot the new baby. Ladakh is our baby UT. Beautiful Ladakh never wanted to be ignored. Their development, their developmental, political aspirations were stamped under lack of political will.
Beautiful people, a cold dessert, but the language was not recognized, the identity was confusing. An unforgettable land where people wanted the same things as you and me. They wanted to feel like they belonged, wanted to build a better future. But they lacked so many things which you and I took for granted. A good school Good colleges Good University Good hospitals. Work opportunity and a better life seemed to be on the other side, just beyond their reach. No one talked about them, it was always the happening next-door neighbor. The neighbor controlled everything. The purse-string and the fruitation of their aspirations.
BJP MP from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal speaks in Parliament on Article 370
Article 370meant only people of J and K could work in J and K.Even in central jobs only people of J and K could be posted.
I was surprised that the beautiful roads in Leh were empty. The shops were basic. Talking to people we realized the terrain made for a low population, but jobs and entrepreneurship help was even lesser.
370 had to go. Doing the same things for seventy years, yielded roughly the same result. It’s time to make a change .Adapting to change and embracing the new today is a good idea, just like Ladakh did. I sincerely hope all the politicians who are busy causing chaos over J and K, realize this. Their children were educated outside Kashmir. If they cared about J and K ‘S people, they would have focussed on building schools, colleges, and hospitals and stopped the stone-throwing business long back. A few people with vested interest tried destroying the youth for their petty gains. Terrorism helped make a few rich in J and K. If you trace their trajectory and their wealth, you will find the answer to why J and K had so much trouble.
Many wrongs doesn’t make a right!

In Ladakh, we stayed at the Grand Dragon. A stunning hotel whose staff helped us get settled down. Our trip was of very short duration and acclimatization needs time. I was already under the weather and on the way I wrote this post. Those cold stark mountains. The views of the snow-capped mountains looked close by. But was far away. Ladakh is far away. So is Jammu and Kashmir, but now is the time to help the people in whichever way we can.
I hear you. You want to help. Now you can. Keep your eyes open that when you can you can. Help open educational and healthcare institutions.
Article 370 and Ladakh
Social justice prosperity and peace takes a long time. But a start is needed. We started finally after so many years of Independence Ladakh will finally have a voice. As Marie Forleo famously says
Everything is Figureoutable!
Marie Forleo
, It’s important to have the political will and the inner strength, that only optimism brings. There will always be naysayers, you need to focus on the big picture of a united India! Faiths and religions are not above humanity. Human aspirations everywhere are the same! I wonder why no one is talking about what the people of Ladakh want? Is their voice not important too?
We want peace, harmony and our children to be happy, healthy and well-fed and have wisdom. That needs some work and now we can say India remembers and just time doesn’t make wrongs right! Neither does multiple wrongs make right. Finally, India stopped paying the price for past mistakes. Its time to make some changes. For the better!
A few days back I was asked to write about the nutrition mythsthat bamboozle us from everywhere. I had just finished writing my sixth book on Nutrition Diet Myths and Life (It’s free for download on the 9th,10th and 11th of August) and this was a good way of putting the word out.
As a doctor whenever I write medicines for any illness people ask me what they should eat ? This was the case from the time we started our clinical rotation. The favorite being anaar ka juice or pomegranate. While it’s an excellent fruit and very tasty, it’s definitely not the only thing you should be eating when sick. But today I will not tell you about nutrition myths. You can read it by downloading my books below.

I will not tell you what to eat and what not. Instead, I will tell you what your body says when you eat something which is not good for you. But remember, this only works if you have an active conscious and your thyroid gland is active.
When you took a second helping of fried and extra spicy drumsticks. When you just finished an extra heavy dinner at midnight.
When your tooth started tingling and you had a headache after eating that chocolate bar.
When you had a constant sour taste in the mouth.
When you couldn’t swallow, because of that burning sensation in your throat.
The bloating and burn in the pit of the stomach and those sleepless nights will all tell you if your diet and lifestyle is working for you. You don’t need anyone else to tell you that. But a little timely reminder may just make you look closer. The question is what will you do after you have looked?
Will you make some changes? Will you take out another health insurance? Will you eat fresher and better ? Will you start exercising?
Life is for you to enjoy, why would you want to work hard, save your money for only buying medicines? Shouldn’t you take care of your body today, so that your health needs the support of nutrients and not medicines?
Ignore the myths about Probiotic that ads sell! This book is free on Kindle unlimited:Enjoy freedom from bad nutrition advice!
Can you do this for your body? If that’s a decision you don’t want to take that’s fine. I am sure Big Pharma will thank you. But not your body. Wake up and do the right thing.
Now some Bad Nutrition Advice which needs breaking

When I first shifted to a small town I was struck by how nongreen my views were. I could see a sliver a sky and other people’s windows.

I am a Doctor blogger and I love it! Once upon a time, I was only writing prescriptions and singing lullaby to my baby. Then while watering my plants, I was struck by a brainwave. I loved reading a blog by Melissa Michaels where she talks about how to love the home you have and home decor stuff. All regular, but lovely to read.
I loved how she connected through her writings and my brain said Bingo! That’s it! New job, new baby, new home and new town, I needed something to keep me grounded while everything turned topsy turvy.
It was to calm my mind down and slow the continuous stream of questions, confusions, and meandering. It helps me organize my thoughts and find a conclusion. To break down big problems into sizeable chunks of things to do.No problem is impossible including digital entrepreneurship from a small town in India. If there is Internet and God’s grace you can learn anything and fo anything. Armed with this belief I started
Roughly three months on WordPress and then on my self hosted blog in October with 2014.One of the most right-brained decision for me. Then it was for you and me and all those readers who are yet to find my blog.
I like planning. I love seeing the point of it, ten years, twenty years down the live. Not in exact details, but the big picture, that gets me excited. Blogging seemed like the magic wand which actually will help do exactly that.
What should I even blog about?
Should I write about healthcare and diseases and give advice? Nah, that’s so boring! Right? Who anyway listens to their mom when she nags? Who listens to their doctor when they are advised to stop smoking?
A quick note, I actually have to mention addictive substance by name, while taking my patient’s history. Otherwise many forget to mention their regular gutkha or tobacco chewing habits, occasional weekly alcohol binges and one pack a day friendly smoking parties at the tea shops.
That’s why my blogging started. To all the young and wise people who read my blog, listen up!
Gutkha, paan masala, betel nut, and random other addictive substances are uncool too.
Alcohol has long term ill effects and binge drinking may affect your inner ear too!
Recreational Drugs are not okay to try.
LSD and CBD can alter your brain chemicals in unknown ways irreversibly. Trying once is not recommended. It can not only alter your brain, your health, your reproductive health and that of your future children.
Just like you shouldn’t try, the Dabaang star’s stunt of crossing rail lines in slow motion, you should definitely skip trying the addictive substances.
Blogging is my attempt at spreading preventive healthcare.
Primary prevention must reach the kids the young moms the adolescent and those at the cusp of making lifestyle choices, which will change their life one bad habit at a time. You may think you are more than the sum of your habits. But in reality, your habits reflect your choice, your mindset your goals and tell the world exactly who you are and how strong you are mentally!
