Chiffon sarees are one of my favorite type of sarees to buy for myself and gift.

But shopping being mostly online nowadays, I try to keep a few things in mind when I buy chiffon sarees online. It’s difficult to know the right kind to buy if you don’t know what is the right kind. If you are a Bollywood fan, you know that none of the eighties heroines skipped dancing in chiffon saree. The most memorable is easily Sridevi’s powder blue one in Mr.India.

What is a chiffon saree?

Chiffon in French means cloth. It’s a saree made up of Chiffon. It is a lightweight, diaphanous, woven fabric. Chiffon has a fine mesh-like weave giving it a transparent appearance.
Its made from cotton, silk or synthetic fibers like nylon, rayon, and polyester. The quality depends on its constituents. So all chiffon saree is a not same!

Chiffon made from silk has a beautiful natural shine which makes it stand out. The quality and how it feels next to your skin depends a lot on what its made of. A chiffon saree made from silk is soft, light, almost floating, and moves fluidly with every movement. It’s a dreamy look and you will know it when you compare chiffon made from a different fabric. The synthetic chiffon, which will be heavier and not as fluid but will still be pretty in most cases.

What is a pure chiffon saree?

A pure chiffon saree it entirely made of silk. It drapes like a dream and makes you look like a Bollywood diva! There’s a saying, that pure chiffon will pass through a ring. That’s how malleable it is. It’s like a whisper and almost featherweight compared to other sarees. If you have touched chiffon, you will know what I mean.

It’s best to dry clean or hand wash with a gentle liquid wash.

How do you get the wrinkles out of a chiffon saree?

Set the temperature of iron to the right setting. Put a heavy cotton cloth or towel over the chiffon saree and press, till the wrinkles are out.

Harassment and stalking are scary. SRK played himself and as a crazy fan in FAN and in ZEE5’s Marathi web series Date with Saie, Saie is followed by a manic fan who is a filmmaker and obsessed with her. He shoots a film with her, secretly. Obsession has been a topic of interest in cinema for a long time now. Movies and shows have been known to give a glimpse into the idea of obsession and how it can impact people.

So, let’s take a glimpse into such shows and movie and see how they explore this dense topic.

Date With Saie (2018)

Starring Saie Tamhankar, Date With Saie is a ZEE5 Original following the twisted obsession of a wannabe filmmaker who secretly films Saie. She is unaware that her life events are being manipulated and is part of a film. Seeing Saie play herself in the series, and a glimpse into obsessive fan culture makes the show a unique and thrilling watch.

Fan (2017)
Fan shows the thin line between obsessive love and hate. SRK plays film star Aryan Khanna and his fan Gaurav Chandna in a double role. In a bid to impress his idol, we see Gaurav commit many crimes and expects gratitude from the star. But the opposite happens. This kickstarts a battle between the star and a fan where the lines of a good and bad blur.

Aamir (2008)
Aamir is a psychological crime thriller starring the talented Rajeev Khandelwal. The story revolves around Dr. Aamir Ali (Rajeev) who returns to Mumbai from the United Kingdom. Agni Sakshi (1996)
Featuring one of Nana Patekar’s best performances, Agni Sakshi is a thrill fest that follows a happily married couple Suraj and Shubangi Kapoor (Jackie and Manisha) who encounter a man Vishwanath (Nana) who claims that Shubangi is his wife Madhu. But the couple ignores his claim and this pushes a dangerously persuasive Vishwanath to prove that he is right, by hook or crook. As Vishwanath, Nana Patekar truly explores the dark character and its hot-headed obsessive traits with bone-chilling intensity.

These stories have a common thread of antisocial behavior growing into psychopathic extremes. Antisocial personality disorder, sociopathy, and psychopathy are all part of a spectrum. If this is the problem, what is the way forward as a society? Nowadays as more and more movies and web series focus on mental health issues which is the right step forward, But one question that arises is if movies reflect society, are we seeing more of mental health issues? Or is it the societal stress, overpopulation, struggle of daily living, the absence of family support adding up?

Some mental health issues show their clues in childhood and some raise their head later in life. Callous, absence of regard for others, unemotional, strange behavior in childhood and psychopathic traits in adult life go hand in hand. Timely help in childhood can save lives. But the problem is these traits often go unrecognized. It is important to know that the majority of prison inmates have some antisocial traits and psychopathy.

How to recognize antisocial personality trait and borderline Psychopathic behavior? Increasing studies have shown childhood to have clues to these problems. Parental awareness is needed to get timely treatment. As an adult, the difficulty increases manifold, especially if there is a tendency for violent and abusive behavior. Impulsive lifestyle factor: impulsivity, sensation seeking, and irresponsibility

Antisocial factor: general rule breaking.

Antisocial behavior is associated with psychopathy in some cases, but most psychopaths fit the criteria of being antisocial.

In Conclusion

It is the small details that matter in this case. So, keep an eye out but without being unnecessarily paranoid.

Adina Deer Park:Back to nature

Adina Deer park or Adina Forest, near Malda town is a must visit in winters. It is a mini zoo maintained to preserve nature, encourage wildlife conservation, awareness and education among the population. We are a nature loving family and winter means quick weekend trips to explore nature.

When we first came to Malda my daughter was an infant.W e traveled carefully. But now we plan for short trips, every weekend during winters. They may be day trips or weekend gateways, whats common is they are close to nature. Last weekend we drove down to Adina Deer Park.

How to reach Adina Deer Park?

It is 350 Km from Kolkata. The nearest railway station is Malda station. If you are in Kolkata you need to take a train to Malda.

Best trains are Gour express( you reach Malda in the morning), the Sealdah-NJP Satabdi express, Darjeeling mail, and Padatik. Only Gour has Malda as the last station and arrives at the perfect time for a day trip to Adina. You can catch the Gour express at night on the same day at 9.35 pm to return to Kolkata. Check irctc site for best deals on trains and train schedules.

From Siliguri too, you have the Darjeeling mail, Shatabdi and Padatik express all good trains with various timings and your stay needs to be planned accordingly.

The Deer Park timings

From 9.30 am till 5 pm. So the best trains are the ones which drop you off in the morning.

From Malda to Adina: Road trip

You can hire a car and drive to Adina Deer park. It’s a total journey of 22.5km from English Bazaar.20 Km of good roads on the National Highway 34 and two and a half kilometer of a bumpy ride in the interiors.

The forest area covers 80 hectares.

Deers: The spotted deer or cheetal

The spotted deer or cheetal are in plenty. This is an important breeding ground for this variety. Currently, there are 90 spotted deer and 8 Neel Gai. But we didn’t see any Neel Gai.

Bird watching at Adina

There is a well-kept aviary, with several pretty birds. The road in front leads up to the area from where you can watch the deer’s, play, eat and stroll around. The entire area is well maintained, clean. It is a litter, noise, and picnic free zone. They have a separate spot outside the reserve forest area for picnicking. The sad part is, people play boom boxes in the picnic areas But luckily the birds still come to roost. We saw plenty of storks the Asian open bill. Zoom in to the pictures to see the storks perching on trees! The other varieties that can be spotted are Paradise-flycatcher, Prinia, old world oriole and some unknown varieties. The sound of birds chirping is musical.

These are in plenty and in varied hues.

Water

What should you avoid?

Speaking loudly shouting, speaking on the phone
Littering
Feeding the animals.

Remember you are visiting their home and you need to show them respect.

Digital Gold in India: PayTM Metal Pay and Augmont experience were interesting, to say the least. Digital Gold in India is not new. I have invested in digital Gold since 2012. But my experience with payTM changed how I viewed Digital Gold investments. While the June experience was disappointing, my December experience was better. I am a typical Indian. I love glittering Gold best.But digital gold sounds cool too.I once bought a Gold fund with the gift money on my daughters First birthday.What can I say after two years I was lucky to get back my deposit amount.

Lesson I learned

I prefer buying and gifting Gold jewelry than digital Gold. Even now.At least it still looks the same and I own it. With digital Gold and all the world’s promise you never do know.Then comes PayTm and wins my trust. It’s my favorite mompreneur money woes help. Banking on your phone was never this easy.

Just PayTM karo!But all good things have a grey lining. Googling I found two other apps which let you buy digital gold. To make my research balanced I decided to check them out.

This is what you find on both Augmont and PayTM easily. Then it gets interesting.

The problem with Digital Gold for me

1 week later.Tried selling the digital Gold I bought. The Cons appeared one by one.

Cons

The selling price of Digital Gold is less than buying price if you sell on the same day, this weird thing happens in Gold shops too. Makes sense from their point of view, not yours or mine.

#1 Buying and selling on the same day will definitely incur losses.

You will not be told about the exact selling price while buying the Gold, though you will be told vaguely about it

There is also a fixed PayTm charge

That’s not something I found out on my first visit though. Interesting I am unable to sell my 200 rupees Gold in PayTM and Rs 100 worth digital Gold in Augmont till the time I accumulate one gram of Gold

My discussing with hubby went like this

Me: You know what we will need to do to make money with digital Gold?

Hubby: What?

You need to buy at least 1 gram Gold.

Hubby: Why?

Me: Because I just found out that while you can buy for Rs 100 and in milligrams while selling they insist on a gram of Gold.

Hubby: How much did you buy?

Me: Total money spent 300.

Hubby that’s okay then?

Me:Buy some more and then try selling?

Hubby: no

Me: Then we will lose Rs 300.

Hubby:It’s better to suffer a 300 rupees loss that a 3000 loss.

Hmm, point there.

Will the experiment succeed? Will currency for buying and selling be made equal? Time will tell. For now, I am waiting. Hubby and I we have one principle with investment. More discussions happening in the future on this, I am sure.

No loss at all. We also believe in letting us have breathing room and agreeing before we do invest.

Should you invest in Paytm Digital Gold? Depends on your plan with it.
Is it a good investment to buy gold from Paytm: Its one of the easiest with a good trust factor.
Is it safe to buy gold online through Paytm and sell it? Selling would need a minimum of one gram of Gold in my Gold balance and I would wait to answer this question,

Update 5th December 2018

A reader on my blog Hussain very helpfully commented .that he could sell Re 1 worth of Gold on PayTM.On hearing this I went and checked it myself.I had bought RS 100 worth of Gold in June, the same time I wrote this post. In December 2018 I sold Rs 189/worth of Gold.The math I have to work out, but I definitely felt better ! Thanks to Hussain I got to know about this, and my faith in PayTM is restored. Check the comment below.
