India, Bharat or Hindustan whatever you call it, this beautiful motherland of mine, is a lesson in unity in diversity. Okay, it may be a little on the rocks, but all relationships go through their ups and downs. Doesn’t mean we can’t repair the broken parts. But intentions from all sides must be towards the same goal. I love my country. I adore the variety of natural food, people and clothes offer.
When I lived in Delhi, I loved visiting all the food stalls at Dilli Haat. I loved the Rajasthani thali with moong daal ka halwa.I loved the Jalojog stall selling all things home. I loved Idli dosa and the Gujarati chaat. I liked Malabar parathas, Hyderabadi Biryani, and the northeastern momos and dumplings. Food in India is a tapestry of deliciousness.
When I first read India’s history in school, I realized it was a beautiful melting pot of cultures, thoughts, and religions. I am a woman born in Independent India and in West Bengal. Growing up I was never told, I can’t do this or that. The only time my mum regretted not having a son(at least that’s what she said). was when things had to be bought late at night. Even then, it wasn’t safe to be out late at night. But strangely enough, I managed to grow up and become a doctor, coming home late at night without any major scares. The scare however now is significant. Not only because I am a woman, but I am a doctor. Every second someone is harassing a woman or beating up a doctor. Can anyone do any work when there’s a risk to life?
On a lighter note, this is our #Thankful Thursdays. Counting blessings make me feel more at peace. I feel thankful , that I had the independence to study what I wanted, with gender not being a deterrent.
I am glad can drive a car and have a license. Many countries in the world don’t allow females to drive.
I am glad I have a right in every decision in my marriage and my marital status, is in no way controlled by the state or by religious police.
I am glad I have a right to vote. Women still fight for that right in some countries.
I am glad our country is secular and appreciates the truth about the right to practice all religions.
I am also glad my countrymen are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in.
Simple things which we take for granted, don’t but important for those don’t enjoy the same privileges. It’s easy to ask for our rights, what’s difficult is doing our duties. Focussing on the nays makes them stronger, so I consciously decide to focus on the good.

#ThankfulThursdays:What are the 5 Things about your country that make you thankful
If you remember your childhood, you will remember the time you were scolded and the times you had fun.
The in-between parts get lost.Memories are funny things. You recollect the ones which are special or terrifying. But what if you could bookmark or pin your memories?Like the pinned tweet or Fb post?
Would it help to have a bookmarking or pinning option in the brain?
Do you have one? Do you have a way to recall and enjoy those summer holiday memories?
What about the winter picnic and visit to the zoo? Do you take those memories out, dust them and cherish them like the jewels in your locker? Few of us do. But when I spend a lazy afternoon with my daughter creating a colorful chart or decorating the cake I hope she will bookmark this memory.
What Children learn
When she spends time making hundreds of cards for her friends, I hope she will remember this joy of making your own cards to gift. Children learn all the good things and the bad things from you first. As the adult in the relationship, you will need to know what’s right and what’s not. As an adult, you need to recall the good things you learn, the frameworks that worked and do the right thing.
But is it that simple?
A few days back my daughter woke up scared. It was a nightmare. The next night she was apprehensive while going to sleep.
I told her.
Plan the dream you want to see in your brain and pin it inside your head. Then go to sleep.
My six year old understands this language and didn’t complain of another nightmare after that.
Why this was important is, I was having disturbed sleep for a few days. While giving her this dose of mommy wisdom, I recalled exactly how I used to sleep well even during stressful exams. I am sleeping better now.
It’s in the mommy wisdom mode that some of my favorite posts have bloomed. Like the Superwomanpost and writing a letter to the universe. They were fun topics to write about and things I believed in. That’s why your brain needs a thought processer, a bookmarking system. Till then I am writing it down on the blog. What children learn has a lot to do with you. Give yourself loads of love.
Have a wonderful middle of the week. Comment below to let me know whether you would like to bookmark your brain?

Its a way of life,a choice to do the best for yourself ,a promise to your soul to always invite happiness and good fortune. If what you focus on grows, then you need to choose on what you want to grow in your life. This life and the one after will all be futile if you don’t decide to make the best of it.One way of doing this,is to keep an attitude to attract the blessings you need in your life.Attitude of Gratitude is serious buisiness, but it needs your commitment.
These are my favourite prompts to write on thankfulness and thankful notes .I believe you find what you seek.Thats why, being thankful works for me.What about you ?Are you a believer?
