The brutal rape and murder of a female Medical student is heartbreaking.Lost life,dreams .The  trust towards the society which a doctor wants to serve seems to be misplaced  in this day and age. Medical  colleges needs security for students, doctors,patients.

The lady doctor a second year post graduate student went to sleep in the departmental seminar room and was brutally raped and murdered there some time between 3am to 4 am by person(s) under investigation of which one suspect  is arrested and is known to have been a civic police.The police commissioner is not able comment whether it was a gang rape or not and that will be clear following further investigation.But according to one  television Channel two different semen sample were  isolated from vaginal swab of the victim.

The lack of  women security personnel  ,female changing rooms ,safe duty rooms and toilets are lacking in almost all the Govt Medical College in West Bengal.
It’s shocking the level of apathy for women Medical students,female doctors and female healthcare staff  #Kolkata #horror.

The current case is now being investigated .But the tragedy which has struck the family is not something words can help with.Only justice served on time to the right culprits will help her soul rest easy.It will also ensure that this kind of events will not be repeated ever in civilized societies.

Maybe it’s time that 24 hour healthcare services are only available in places with secure facilities .

Maybe it’s time carrying a gun or a knife becomes essential for  female doctors.But is that the way to a safer society?

This was one of the reasons I resigned from my job as a Medical teacher in a Government Medical College. The night duty  worries were too stressful .I still have PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder) from my time of night on-calls.

A society where repeated acts of violence on  doctors goes unpunished ,there’s a big problem.Because one day they will come for you.

The question remains.Why wasn’t the possible scene of crime (the floor) secured ?

Why wasn’t the Principal, MSVP,HOD Chest and all staff on call at the hospital on that night immediately interrogated?

Where are the people who ate dinner with her?

Why was no evidence of dinner (containers etc) found next day?

Why was there no evidence of order being placed?

Why was the cremation done so quickly ?

Why was out of norms post mortem done ?

Why is there no accountability from those who deliberately attempted to muddy the waters?

Why was it called a suicide?

Why wasn’t more empathy shown to the bereaved parents ?

Why do we still have to ask why?

People are protesting in large numbers against the heinous crime and the irresponsible manner of investigation

Imagine RG Kar is located at  Khudiram Bose Sarani .Khudiram Bose brave 18 year old who stood up to give us freedom.Its symbolic that the systemic rot  spilled it’s gut right there.
Forensic medicine teachers at Calcutta Medical College   taught us to see right .There’s really no such thing as a perfect murder.Anyone who was with the rapists and  murderer(s) will forever be a witness to each other’s crime.Remember the movie I know what you did last summer?

Mob went on a rampage at RG Kar breaking government property ,destroyed medicines,gave rape threat to nurses on duty .According to KP  announcement on social media it was a 5000 to 7000 strong mob and they were caught unprepared and outnumbered.They came in trucks and went away in trucks.

Update 17th August

Why would a mob go on a rampage in a high profile Government hospital which is also the (possible)location of a heinous crime being investigated by the CBI under judicial overview?
Mob pictures and AI matching with Aadhar/voter picture will be an easy way for KP /CBI to find the people at the forefront of yesterday’s attack.Find the one with the dog whistle.
Also  Confiscate the phone, trace the call records of everyone on duty at the hospital on the day of crime and there still might be clues.
There’s no need for guesswork in crime.But I guess I am wrong .

Case being heard suo moto by Supreme Court.

But we need the criminals caught and punished.All those enablers who are behind the rot in the system are waiting for people to get  tired,jaded and hopeless.Social justice is a marathon .

What happened at RG Kar should never have happened.

January 2025

One lone accused Sanjay Roy has been sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.The State Government wants him hanged ,the parents of the victim wants to ensure he lives to be a witness one day.

The CBI Chargesheet against ex-principal Sandip Ghosh is finally submitted in court after the State Government allows him ti be prosecuted.

31st January 2025-The illegally appointed Registrar of WBMC gives his resignation as directed by Honorable High Court.

We are still waiting for supplementary chargesheets and further steps in the court of law.

Wheel of time always moves forward .Justice is awaited.
