On World Environment Day, I am sharing ten, things you can do, and a few suggestions for the Government. Maybe someone will listen!

How is the Health of the Nation: The report is an eye-opener!
One good thing about the COVID19 pandemic was the reduced pollution rates and the Ozone layer healing itself.
With an all-time low air traffic mountain ranges being seen from cities were trending on twitter streams. But breathing in clean air indoors is what we did under lockdown. Once the lockdown is lifted, humans continue to pollute. But why is it so difficult for each of us to focus on doing our bit for Mother Nature.
You and I are both a part of nature. Its but natural that when you go for a nature walk, you feel good. But why then do you not do your part to raise your voice for nature?
An elephant was killed in Kerala. She was pregnant and ate a pineapple filled with firecrackers. That’s the work of a psychopath, and strict legal action is needed.
When we cut down one tree, kill birds, and pollute the rivers and oceans, we are writing our own death warrant.
When I started gardening six years back, I did so suddenly. Now my little balcony garden helped me keep sane every day during the 80 plus days of lockdown. Looking at the green plants, feeling the leaves dance, and seeing the flowers bloom was the most calming experience ever.
When we don’t remember that we are Mother Nature’s children and all animals and plants are our brothers and sisters, we risk destroying ourselves. But will humans learn? That is the million-dollar question.
10 Powerful Ideas to help Mother Nature
#1 Know about pollution both indoors and outdoors. Avoid lead containing paints .
#2 Plastic usage has a huge role to play in both soil, air, and water pollution, and that needs to be stopped now. Use eco-friendly products and support ecofriendly businesses.
#3 Buy local and avoid eCommerce sites who bubble wrap their products in yards of plastic. Hemp, straw, and jute are many options that could help cut down on plastic use and support local industries.
#4 Buy local fruits and vegetables. They are fresher and more nutritious closer they are to their harvest date.
#5 Slow fashion, recycle, reuse, and upcycle clothes.
#6 Buy what you need, not to hoard.
#7 Be responsible for garbage disposal.
#8 When you travel, be a responsible tourist, and avoid littering.
#9 Say no to plastic straws.
#10 Eat fresh, food not processed if you don’t want to pollute your own body! You deserve as much care from pollution as everything else in nature.
When I asked the same question on Instagram, this is what Instagrammers said.
Carpool
Reuse, Recycle Reduce, Recover
Avoiding the use of plastic.
Reducing car usage and walking more.
Reducing the use of electrical appliances.
What I believe can help Mother Nature if done by Governments.
All schools should have mandatory home gardening and training for growing food. Using technology, vertical gardening, aquaponics, hydroponics will help. Schools, colleges, universities should invest in rooftop gardening and use the food produced for children’s meals. Government initiative and parent groups can both help.
This will ensure interest and make a nutritious diet possible for all.
Investing in solar-powered buildings, green building norms for all Government buildings and educational institutes can show the way for others.
Giving unique tax benefits to Corporations willing to invest in green technology will drive India towards making our country Green.
Ensure the use of alternate sources of energy for cars to help reduce emission, pollution, and dependence on oil-rich countries.
More investment in research and development for sustainable farming will help improve the nutritional value of food crops. The better we eat, the smarter we are.
Harvesting of rainwater mandatory for all buildings, both private and public.
Exclusive benefits for corporates involved in planting and maintaining trees will make this a popular initiative.
Community kitchen services, community gardens can help reduce waste and landfill related pollution.
The exploding population and their pollution effect need to be strictly controlled.
Strict avoidance of sound pollution.
