Healthy environments can reduce stress and inspire creativity. Writing this on #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth is one way of spreading awareness.
This was a Tweet by Google creators .It made me think. Peace dignity and equlaity are important for mental health according to the United Nations page on mental health. Childhood and adolescence are critical stages for mental health, marked by rapid brain development and the acquisition of cognitive and social-emotional skills that shape future well-being and adult life. The quality of early environments ā homes, schools, communities, and increasingly digital spaces ā has a profound impact.(Source)
What’s important is the role of parents and caregivers. Its increasingly obvious that children learn by watching. They mimic adult behaviour and learn to become master manipulators. Digital screens and blue light exposure is the other big influence in this current world. Indian Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommends less than one to two hours of screen time from all sources in adolescent less than eighteen years.
Did you know complete health and wellbeing is only possible when both internal and external factors work together.Ā Genetics and Epigenetics both are criticalĀ .Ā
While Genetics and natural selection is not our control, Epigenetics is to some extent.Ā Being envious or the object of envy both are not conducive to mental health.
Environmental health ,social health community health, work place health, home health come in this basket. The umbrella category is still Environmental health.
So what makes up the Environment?
Physical environment Nature, air, water, buildings the chair you sit inĀ .Ancient IndianĀ Vastu Science talk about the physical environment and so does Feng Shui.
Social Environment :
People. Those around you. It’s not easy. But things worth having are always uphill.
So let’s take one day at a time. One place at a time.
Which place makes you happiest?
Which place makes you sad?
Where do you feel angry?
Why and What?
Can you change the factors which bring negative emotions?
If it’s a yes,change it.
If no, then you have to work on your mindset.
But what exactly is mindset ?Is it like a dinner set?
Setting a table?
Can you set your mind?
Yes and no and sometimes its in-between.
When you have a recurrent thought, your brain neurons fire in such a way ,so as to follow the path created by the previous neuro electrical path.
In order to create a new path, imagine a positive solution. Something which works well ,which makes the situation better and you will find a way to make it better.
The book Think and Grow Rich sounds like a book selling myths. But this book is one of the best examples of creating winning mindsets.
So mindset is your internal environment.
For external environment .
There are living beings and nonliving objects .
If you remember middle school physics everything has energy. One form can convert to another, but everthing has some sort of energy .
But science doesn’t talk about positive or negative energy except as a way to describe opposite poles.
So that part becomes more subjective.
In the book Spark Joy Marie Kondo talks about a simple method of decluttering.Finding things which spark Joy.
That’s great and works .
For people it’s a little more complicated.
Work with people who not only spark joy.
Gives a sense of peace and balance .Who make you feel happy š.
Those who have integrity.
It’s interesting to say that you are ” non judgemental “.
But everyone judges. Whether they express the judgment in words or deeds is another matter.
A country’s Supreme Court is talking about taking away reproductive freedom from the hands of women.
The environment of stress for women facing unexpected pregnancy is unimaginable.

Leaving you with a urban sketching style artwork of the “village garden”.Life is about trying to paint one picture at a time of what I want in my life.Or that’s what I am trying. But as my husband says ,”some things need to evolve at their own pace.”I am still trying to wrap my head around that part for now .
