Bridge course for Ayush Doctors available! Would you like to get treated? Do you think death and diseases differentiate between rich and poor? Do you think the rural poor deserve worse healthcare?
Do you think the middle class deserves to be treated by quacks? Do you feel healthcare should be accessible and quality for everyone?
Do you feel you deserve to know what will happen to you if you visit any tier 2,3 cities towns and villages? As a Medical teacher in a small town in India, should I stop living here and treating poor patients? Should they be destined to be treated by Ayush doctors with a crash course in medicines and given a license to treat patients? In case a complication arises due to such treatment, will the Government take full responsibility for medical negligence?
Read National Medical Council Bill
If the decision rests with the State Government, will the state Government pay damages for disability, death, and negligence? I have spent nineteen years studying and still study, this will be taught in six months? As a doctor, I know this is serious. If there is a reason for the stringent eligibility tests for pre-medical and post-grad medical seats, why such a fish-eyed view about the health care of the masses?
Three things you should know as a rare Indian
1)If you are reading this post, that means you are an educated Indian and have above average IQ and income.
2)You already have access to quality health care and you have never been treated by a Quack.
3)If you donโt stand up to this health care crisis, a day will come when politicians will ensure only they get treated by Doctors with Medical degrees and all others by bridge course doctors. Not a Doomsday theory just simple logic.
Why is the Government doing this?
- There is a real Crisis of Doctors.
- A high attrition rate of Doctors.
- Challenging health care infrastructure, manpower, and bursting population.
- Inability to think straight due to air, water, sound, and food pollution.
- Brain suffering from Low oxygen saturation in capital city Delhi?
- The Government think tanks are being misled by people with a vested interest?
- The Government really wants to solve the healthcare crisis.
The answer is for them to know and you to guess.
If you believe in karma then you will know all those who are poor will not always stay poor. The tables may turn one day. As a doctor, I know whom to visit when I want treatment. [bctt tweet=”The question is, will you know? If Ayush Doctors are so qualified, why not set up Ayush Hospitals, emergency facilities and promote Ayush? #BlogtoPM” username=”misra_amrita”]
Why endanger poor people?
[bctt tweet=”Who will be the watchdog guarding the gates of Cities against the bridge course Ayush Doctors? #BlogtoPM” username=”misra_amrita”]
These bridge course doctors will be placed in Midlevel care providers in sub-health centers. This means people who are poor will be denied quality healthcare, have poorer health, spend more money on controversial health advice and suffer eventually. Those who need help most will suffer most. Sigh!
Mainstreaming Ayush? This step is unlikely to help. It will only increase distrust and cause this ancient system to lose goodwill. Because Ayush has a role in Holistic wellness which makes it unique.
If mainstreaming Ayush is the intention, why not setup Ayush subcentres and let people visit those of their own free will and get treated. Why not open Ayush Hospitals with Ayush nurses, physicians, and surgeons. Whatever it is, gambling with the health of the nation needs someone to take responsibility. The Centre has very smartly passed the ball to the State Government, now who will roll the dice?
Food for thought this #ThankfulThursday for growing up in India, where I was taught that Quality Healthcare is your right.Rich or poor.
The ball is in your court. Share this post and help spread the word, before it’s too late.
Updates
Cabinet removes Bridge course for Ayush Practitioners.
Instead, the responsibility of promoting and meeting the need for healthcare in the States has been delegated to the State Government. So if the question now is can Ayush doctors practice allopathy? The answer is still no for most parts of India. But in a few states, the State Government for some strange reason allowed this.
Can Homeopathy Practice Allopathy?
The answer is No.
Can BAMS practice allopathy or allopathic medicine?
Answer: NO.
Can Ayush practice allopathy or allopathic medicine?
Answer: No.
The corners cut today, the standards compromised now, will have an effect for years to come. So be aware and know your rights.

Dr. Joginder Saini says
Mbbs doesn’t hold copyright for health…… Health is a right of people……
You believe only mbbs provide health, 90% people get treated buy us…. You just work for money, made health a business.
And now You think, why our coustomer goes somewhere else….you had a narrow vision mam, raise your thinking first then raise your voice.
Rt says
Dr amrita ….Really…if your allopaths really care about poor peoples why don’t they wish to provide their services to rural areas….in reality ur money minded allopaths only concern about money …
Dr.Amrita Basu(MBBS,MS) says
Sir, I am working in a semi-rural setup for the last five years. Rural or urban everyone deserves the same quality of healthcare. Hope you manage all your own health issues adequately with the quality you recommend for people in rural areas. Quality healthcare at all levels is needed . No one is stopping you from practicing your own branch of medicine in your own setup. There is a reason you passed a different exam.
Alpika Singh says
Good decision by govt of india for introducing bridge course for ayush becuase it will stop curruption in
healthcare system and everyone can get easily and quality treatment
Dr.Amrita says
Not really!
nationalist says
AYUSH
Ayurveda Yoga Unani Sidha Homeopathy and now tibetian system is also included in it.
So in this aricle we are said that these doctors are QUACKS. Studying for 5and a half yrs with their system of medication along with the modern aspect of treatment are all integrated just to become a quack. This means goverment should ban these courses and declare M.B.B.S as complete system for treatment.
In every proffesional of these courses you will find that each subject is being taught first by the indigenous aspect then it is corelated with the modern aspect as well.
This means if you are getting the degree from AYUSH standards you have to study the syllabus of MBBS as well.
After 1 year of internship and securing the degree attending 6 months in AYUSH setup and another 6 months with the allopath practicioners, the eligible and intrested candidate who want to serve this country by combining his knowledge of ancient system with current technology will give a competitive exams to enter the bridge course where the candidate will get liberty to prescribe selected medicines of allopathy so that they can be called the QUACKS at the end. That’s very kind of you .
Dr.Amrita says
Its always better if Ayush physician practices Ayush and heal with that. But I understand if you dont believe in that. Its a matter of perspective.Atleast having a name gives you authenticity.
Devevendra Kumar says
Dr.Amrita mbbs ko hawa(air) mt banao.today any one take admission in mbbs college if he has
great money(motta pausa) it totolly based on marketing. In this case where is talent. So i am not blaming anyone because of your stupit comment.i written this comment.achhe log har field me hai aur unko pramote karana chahiye GOVT. yehi kar rahi hai by BRIDGE COURSE LAKAR FOR Ayush physicain.
Devevendra Kumar says
Hi Nationlist don’t say mbbs is called quacks system.we know loot (corruption in mci) machha hai mbbs me .but u can say some time mbbs is quacks system because rural people is suffering from this system.Thatwhy govt.supporting bridge course for BAMS(Ayush) doctor for serving people.
Ved says
Just your ego and monopoly not more than this. This is the only sentence used for you.
Natasha says
Thank you for bringing this up. It’s a shame how things are just implemented in the country for the “sake of it.”
I hope this article is a good wake up call and things can move from here on.
Riddhi Jhala says
Thank you for sharing this article! Government should be responsible instead of letting poor suffer.
Chana says
I don’t know much about Indian culture, but after reading this… I have a better idea of what it’s like to be dealing with the system. Thanks for the info!!
Dr.Amrita says
Thanks Chana!
Devevendra Kumar says
Hi Dr.Amrita i don’t know why u guys have problem with bridge course. This is good idea by govt for BAMS.For your kind info this bridge course already fully implemented in Maharashtra. All over india BAMS doctor prescribeing aurveda+allopathy about this govt already know and free it because doctor serving people.mbbs ki tarah loot nahi macha rahe hai.Karanataka govt also allow. in all over india ism(doctor) i.e ayush doctor prescribeing aurveda+allopathy in rural area by govt.So mbbs loot or thug of hindustan will reduce soon.
Devendra says
Wow that was something new. I did not know anything about the bridge courses.
Susan says
I was not aware of this situation in India, but it is interesting seeing the similarities in the debate about healthcare between India and the US, and whether everyone should be entitled to a basic level of competent healthcare (I believe this should be a basic right). But even if we could all agree on that, that raises the question of how to deliver it, and this is where we need to come up with some better solutions because the traditional infrastructure in many larger countries like the US and India is just not set up to handle everyone.
kumamonjeng says
Wow, I learn so much about Indian system, the medical system and the education system here. The bridge course doctor will be placed in Midlevel care providers in sub health centers => I guess this is happening to many other part of the world, not just India.
NafisahNK says
I truly hope everything turns out right as these are peoples’ lives they are gambling with
tachira wiltshire says
We all deserve adequate health care despite our race or class. i was unaware of this very serious issue until you highlighted it . I understand that there is a health crisis but it is not logical that you can process all of that information in such a short period of time . I am by no means an expert but this is not a viable long term option .
janna says
Had no knowledge of bridge courses. Sounds alarming. Both my parents are physicians, and my sister is a nurse. I can’t imagine only 6 mos of education before going out into the field!
Xyx says
No Janna, you are getting it wrong. Ayush doctors have already studied 5 1/2 years, (including 1 year internship) same way like MBBS does. Same subjects, apart from therapeutics and modern pharmacology. This is what they are supposed to cover in 6 months, that too with limited number of basic medicines. So it is overall a good preposition for general public at large. Doctors of different pathies can have their difference of opinions, but for common people its definitely a good step towards better public health of country.
Tina Basu says
imagine studying 5 yrs worth of course in 6 months!!! Scary. It’s quite a relevant issue. But our system is so that there’s hardly any doc in rural areas! They need basic care too.
Sunil mittal says
They also study same subject for five year. This is half information only pharmacolgy subject is taught in a year which is new and revision of other subjects with pharmacolgy is in bridge course. Learn Ingle and practicing is not a substandardisation if it would have been give without teaching then would b problem but its about emergency medicine and few routine medicines
MommyingBabyT says
quite a bold post. I wasn’t aware of this directive. it may be helpful for me to read more about this
Natasha says
What a relevant issue you have raised Doc. Ignore these brick bats. You are doing a great job- always have and will continue to. More power to you.
Dr.Amrita says
Thanks Natasha
Jiya says
I am not able to understand that how a medical science can be learned in just 6 months crash course. I think even preparation for entrance of medical exam requires more time than this. I would say thanks to you Dr. Amrita for bringing this to a aam admi like me. Atleast now I know which doctor is qualifies to treat me and my family.
Devevendra Kumar says
Hi Jiya don’t make drama or try to become innocent if u don’t know what is mean by crash course basic thing then what u will do in this world or prepara for entrance.i am explaining it crash course means–(5 and half year regular medical course+crash course duration). Now your famity treat by 6 year regular qualified medical doctor.i am sure now u understood DHANYBAD
Sarah says
That was indeed a bold message and thanks for spreading awareness about this important issue.
pythoroshan says
All the haters here have just deflected from the topic of bridge course and set about attacking the author on the basis of ‘How good their course is’, ‘How its better than allopathy just because it’s older’, how ‘they service the poor more than allopathy’ and what not.
None of this stands as a viable argument. Explain why India needs a bridge course if you have been successfully treating the poor for so long in rural areas which you claim ‘doctors don’t go to’
Explain why you need to prescribe allopathic drugs when you are so confident your form of therapy ‘cures without side effects unlike the evil allopathic medicines’
Show me indeed research articles with double blind studies proving homeopathy works.
Dr. Akshay Arora says
Dr. Amrita
In which ever hospital you go NABH or anyone hospital is supported and all the work in icu nights shifts everything Bams are doing.
Before saying quacks ,firstly go an update your knowledge about our syllabus than think about this
Every doctor is student for lifetime , so we are and there is no need to mention your 19 years etc etc
These posts and your strike feels me like that you guys are afraid of Ayush, afraid of losing your income sources nothing else
Have a good day
Jhilmil Bhansali says
6months crash course for practising medical? This sounds like a mockery of whole system, though I really need to read and understand more about it.
Akanksha Goel says
This is such a heavy topic to debate. As I am not from Medical background, I Need to go though the National Medical Council Bill to understand correctly. I hope this is sorted soon Dr. Amrita.
pramod mishra says
Firstly dr amrita dont ever call ayush doctors quack.
They have been treating patientssince decades.
And for your kind attention that negligence (u can google cases of negligence against famous allopathic doctors) only is done by ayush doctors only.
Ur community feares and r more jealous towards Ayush doctors.
Please grow up.Become mature.
Chandana Chandu says
People are not fools to believe Wt baseless posts tell… Plz show ur writing skills with ur replies now… No one is blind to believe u… Stop spreading ur half knowledge to people… Being a doctor u shouldn’t have written about another system of medicine in such an underestimating manner… Mind ur language ma’am.. Is this wt u studied for 19 yrs… How sad… May be after reading all these comments u would stop writing baseless essays like that… Isn’t it.. U should have become a writer instead of doctor… That’s y it took 19 years for u to complete a MBBS degree of 5 years… Anyways… Hope u realized ur mistake after reading these comments… Pray to God to give u some knowledge… With all due respect THANK YOU … It was good to see people supporting ayush than allopaty… Sad u better luck next time…
richa mina says
Chandra chandu please don’t abuse some who is educated and motivated. as i remember the laws India still has laws which allows you to express the views independently so stop abusing people who are trying to express themselves.
Divya BV says
Mam,if you don’t know the value of Ayush treatment.. Then first you try to know. First of all ur thinking is wrong..MBBS syllabus is just a part of BAMS syllabus..you studied the MBBS syllabus for 19yrs..then think how much time would have taken to complete BAMS syllabus..may be around 38yrs rgt ..we are not just practicing the Ayurveda.. We are practicing Alopathy too…this is power of each & every Ayush Doctor.. don’t underestimate the power of Ayush Doctors.
Manickam says
First govt should initiate action to assign the works to allopathy and indian medicine doctors .
Only for emergency medicine allopathy to be allowed ,all other diseases should be treated only in indian medicine.if this done with modify the corricolam.india will be free from most of the diseases in 10 years.most of the doseasrdare created by allopathy medicine.
Surabhi says
Madam don’t underestimate Ayush doctors..they study both ayruvedic and allopathic..they also study 6 years .
Amit Jaiswal says
Ohhh my goodness look who are saying about betterment of people the “SO CALLED ALLOPATHS” u all people just have good income bcoz of the MARVELLOUS earnings of big big pharmacy companies…
Our govt. Never bothers about which medicines are banned or should be banned just whatever will be the matter earn money…
The ayush drs practise in periphery with holding degrees and quacks are not at all in medical systems yes the ayush drs must be given limitations to practise modern medicines nothing goes wrong in this … than putting patient life in so called RMPS or PMPS who uses latest Intravenous antibiotics rampantly which is more harm to us surprisingly no IMA speaks about this…pharma companies have minting like anything… who bothers for public niether IMA nor the govt. Friends soon will enter
Pre-antibiotic era and sufferer will be our own young generations these all truth no one will explain so please dont paas judgement about ayush drs having studying medicine for 19years or 1 year no medical science is learnt in ur lifeterm its just all about experience and yes one last no ayush dr is asking for doing specialization and performing surgeries etc…

Now the main problem for MBBS doctors is that if govt would allow Bridge course for AYUSH doctors your market will see crisis not the health of our Indians. You are greedy and want all money and respect.
But for your kind information being a BAMS I faces three times more difficulty than you as I study HINDI ENGLISH AND SANSKRIT. Why you think that we don’t know anything..I challenge you that any MD AYURVEDIC doctor would have more knowledge than you…Our doctors can do what you can but can’t do what we can..Do you have guts to go through our books. I found modern very easy and tension mat lo appki dukaan band ni hogi agar hum gareeb logo ko aachaa ilaaz muft mein denge..aapke pass apke clients aate rhenge aur hmare pass hmare patients
richa mina says
aapko PMT aur exit test dena chahiye agar apko allopathic ke fayede chahiye to nuksaan bhi lijiye. hindi and sanskrit is your speciality we learn allopathic in english if you have problem with that discuss it with our education department.
Devendra Kumar says
Richa mina aur apko motta donation dena chahiye allopathic ke liye and after that chhola chap doctor banana chahiye english parke.Realty almost private college(mbbs) based on pausa dau admission lo.nahi to foreign jao mbbs degree lao aur garib logo se wasulo.esliye ajj patient hospital me die kar rahe becuase low quality like u doctor(mbbs)
Alpika Singh says
Richa mina changes aur low grade mentality.u are not owner of allopathic system. And for your kind info mahastra govt implemented bridge course and it is spreding all over india.don’t spread cheap word
Devendra Kumar says
Gaurav chaturvedi good reply. All language are good but language don’t decide talent
rahi bat english ki 5 years ka bacha bhi eglish bolta hai.it means not this 5 year child can do doctor work at this stage but if he will do hard work then after 14-15 year become profession in any filed and do related work so lalent is matter not language.
Dr.Amrita says
Some things need the right qualification. Why don’t you practice Ayurveda? Or are you not confident? If you want to be an allopath do it the hard way. That’s why we have entrances and qualification. Maybe you should sit for the premedical entrance and get admitted, do the curriculum, pass and then practice Allopathy? Anyways, the central government has amended rules and it’s now limited to some state. Best wishes.Hope you have the confidence to practice the medicine you have trained for and not try shortcuts.
Epidemiologist says
First of all….what is going to be taught under bridge course? Secondly how state of Assam, Maharashtra and few others are performing since last 50 years with integrated course? Why incidents are not happening in these states? What is the definition of quack?
Does all Ayurveda and homeopathic practitioners are quack? Whatever they study i.e. their human anatomy is different from mbbs fellows ? I have a doubt ?
Being a public health consultant we have decided and divided the roles of different healthcare professionals. Bridge course is one such step. Nobody is going to kill anyone and if he/she does….law of the land prevails. And if the author wants to say all the patients who die in India due to Ayush system of medicine.
This is a big fat joke.
Statistics speak about it. Let the government do their job and government think tanks are of not idiots….that is assured to me.
Give a thought to it….too.
Vishala says
Well Dr.Amrita…it is looking like you are not aware of many things in the health care sector.in all the cities right now 99% of the hospitals are running successfully with the help of AYUSH doctors.is it ok? 99% of the rural health care is met by AYUSH doctors….where are the so called qualified dictors? Stop worrying about political leaders…any how they will go to abroad for the treatment.why? Is India lacking in expert doctors? see the result in health care after NRHM is introduced. Before using some words think twice.yoh can’t say qualified AYUSH doctors as quacks.check the syllabus of AYUSH courses.arent you aware of the cases over Fortis hospital ? What you call them? If you have objections on NMC bill ,discuss it in a proper way…..sorry to say this is not the right way.
vijay says
I think MBBS course is of 5 or 6 yrs, but here 19yrs of studying is for which course, having arrears or the course period has extended?!
Mashkur says
I think You have not seen the syllabus of AYUSH..
Most of the health services are given by AYUSH Drs. In remote areas , villages …
But I Don’t support NMC bill…
Dr.priya says
Bridge course is a good decision of government.ayush doctors are nt quaks.we know our limits.we practise only integrated medicine.we going to give a proper guidance for patients.we are nt asking that we have to do cardiac surgery or major treatments.we are asking only for emergency services for patient.and we practice wt we study
Alpika Singh says
Dr.Priya we are right. In some state this bridge course alredy impleneted like mahastra in karanataka allopathy is allow in rural area.our aim is everyone get hassle free treatment in india thatway govt supporting this program.

And if all the pathies would work together THE TREATMENT IN OUR COUNTRY , IN INDIA … WILL BE BEST ONE … LIKE THE OTHER DEVELOPED COUNTRIES …. But ! We live in sarcastic society where the educated people also behave like ILLITERATES …!
JANMEJAY SHARMA says
Mam do you know who is concidercoas father of surgery…… I bet you don’t know….. Do you know how many ayurvedic medicines and practices do you or any other allopathic doctors use or prescribe. Do you think surgery is integral part of allopathic system …. No , it is somewhat different from allopathy. And please have a bird view how so called modern and able allopathic doctors do treat their patients. Without modern diagnostic tool you are nothing … Most of you do is trial and error method….
richa mina says
we do know Sushruta. but you do not have permit to practice surgery yet. so may be you should narrow your view sir and keep it bird’s eye to elaborate on your own field.
Devendra Kumar says
Janmejaay sharma first don’t try to become father of surgery.Surgery practice is for all eligible doctor who can able to do.You guys marketing health system in publically and always proving only i can do allopathy becuase i pay very much donation in college time and now try to recover from poor and middle class femaily. We all welcome bridge course by govt
prismaroundgurjeet says
Everybody need a treatment what poor or rich, we all are human and government should do something about this. Ayush hospital is solution to the problem
Premata Singh says
Yes,we all supporting govt decision but some businessman thought opposing this becuase thier shop will close and people become happy
Princy says
to be true, that i was not aware of this. but after reading the post , this is so true. great point highlighted
MOHAN says
Yes,in rural areas,no MBBS doctors reach, best way to implement Bridge course for Ayush doctors
Devevendra Kumar says
Yes now necessary to implement bridge course for improve healthcare system in indai.GOVT doing good job.
Samita says
Actually you are only afraid of Ayush doctor’s. You are not against Bridge courses by Staff Nurses or other Medicare persons, you are only against Ayush doctor’s doing Bridge courses. Shame on you and your mentality. The entire Health care budget is eaten by greedy Allopathic fraternity leaving behind Ayush as most of the Allopathic doctors have their parents or wards as IAS officers (Policy makers). Only in this case Govt. Is not listening to them. And you are having problem with it. First go and close the shops of Unregistered practitioners if you can.
Sandeep Agrawal says
Ayush doctor is also having same course and same book like allopathy, only difference is the pharmacology. In almost all corporate hospitals the Ayush doctors are present as Medical officer, since more than 10 years, plz ask me the people those who are going saving their life, or going to die
Devevendra Kumar says
Hi Snadeep Agrawal supporting u for you comment.Bridge course already fully implemented in mahastra state and so many state allow to practice allopathy like in karanataka rural area,UP,MP,Panjab etc. Some people just opposing this good decision by govt because enki loot(curruption)khatam ho gayega.
Pankaj kumar says
Allopathy is only symptomatic treatment,,,not cure completely.
Sumedh says
If allopathic doctors really care about the middle class and the poor class people, why there are more hospitals in cities as compared to rural areas? Have seen worst conditions of chattisgarh and maharashtra too where no allopathic doctors are interested to serve in public health stream… I would like to mention an MBBS Doctor gets 70k in hand per month to serve in rural areas of chhattisgarh still they demand for transfer in cities+ those who are deployed in tribal areas visit the hospital once a week… And for rest of the time, RMA’s, BAMS and BHMS people take care of the patients who get mere 30-40k in hand per month, why this discrimination? Why no MBBS people raise voice against the doctors who work in their absense??
Devevendra Kumar says
That why govt introduce bridge course for ayush practioner because syllabus of MBBS and BAMS is equal only mordern medicine will hanlde in bridge course i.e modern pharmacology. Then this type of problem will solve.and loot will reduce. Some state already implemented bridge course .
Bishnu says
Ayush doctor should allow modern practice at some extent . In Ayush course , modern subjects are also included like anatomy.physiology, pharmacology, surgery.medicine, biochemistry.biophysics.dessection, practicals. As they also study modern subjects then why Ayush doctor should not allowed to practice at some extent. they will fulfill requirements of doctors in village area and will provide better health for poor people’s.
Every should know that father of surgery was sushrut.he was an ayurvedic surgeon. His typical surgery is mentioned in ayurvedic sushruta sahita. Some examples
Treatment of fistula ,a very good treatment in ayurveda.i.e.charsuta therapy. A very less recurrence.while in modern recurrence is more.
For liver , majority of doctors prescribe ayurvedic herbal drugs.
As ayurvedic doctors also study the subject of modern , they should allow modern practice at some extent after giving some courses which further improve their quality of practice.
Sumathi says
I understand AYUSH doctors are not qualified as equivalent as MBBS…Because in total 5-1/2 years they study basics of so called modern medicine and Ayurveda concepts in addition to it to get qualified as a physician. PLEASE STOP THE NOTION THAT AYUSH Practitioners are just 10th pass…They complete their schooling like MBBS doctors do in PCB and score few notches less than Students qualify for MBBS admission and end up doing BAMS…..FYI people….Father of Surgery is Sushruta Ayurveda physician and foreigners improvised it….So don’t make fun doing borrowed science…We owe modern medicine for the improvisation but don’t mock the founder and science he practised…..So now let us think of access to healthcare for rural poor people….Our MBBS doctors are not in sufficient numbers and they don’t prefer practicing in villages…..So how are they getting treated now…By some 10th fail working in a hospital treats them….So to satisfy the ego of few MBBS doctors ….We will continue that excellent treatment that poor rural people are currently receiving in villages by some 10th fail ….Just because we believe in the MBBS doctors propaganda and hatred, insecurity against AYUSH….We happily deny access to a decent healthcare access (AYUSH is better than uneducated quack or no treatment) by joining hands with our fellow MBBS citizens and allow rural people suffer and die….Just because some don’t like AYUSH and feel insecure or have hatred towards the science of the motherland…JAIHIND….
Mohan says
I think the MBBS lobby is responsible for this, most of them try to avoid working in rural area and always read for strike even when they are working in this noble proffesion. At the time of their strike numbers of patients died due to non availability of medical facility but who cares
Rohit shelke says
Dont miss guide people Dr amrita . I am BAMS graduate from maharashtra. What do you know about course structure in maharashtra. BAMS is an integreted course. Both modern and ayurvedic syllabus are well taught in classrooms. There is a posting of 6 months in district civil hospital and in PHC during internship. According to drug and cosmetic act & some other amendments BAMS graduates registered in Schedule A,A-1 & D are allowed to do modern medicine practice. So stop abusing us by comparing with quacks. I dont know about other states, but in MAHARASHTRA BAMS graduates are well qualified and well taught to practice modern medicine and protected by the laws of maharashtra.
In maharashtra there are so many BAMS graduates posted as a MEDICAL OFFICER AT PHC AND TALUKA LEVEL ALONG SIDE MBBS GRADUATE MEDICAL OFFICERS AND DOING THERE WORK VERY PROMPTLY.
Much important thing is that because of your EGO, no MBBS graduate is willing to work at village and taluka levels. What about people living there. Dont they deserve good medical facilities. Thats why BAMS graduates are providing excellent health services at village and taluka levels in maharashtra from last 2-3 three decades. Peoples are really satisfied with our services to them.
So from next time when you post such FAKE NEWS do your research properly.
Regards,
Dr Rohit shelke

Dr Amrita you are absolutely right….but why can’t you protest against RMPS Pmps who really spoiling health care system in India those who doesn’t have passed even 10th class…. They are pumping latest IV antibiotics at the cost of human lives …. That is the reason why India has become hub for super bugs and Listen soon we are going into a pre antibiotic era which you cannot imagine our next generation life will be so happy n healthy.coming to ayush docs before commenting please go through CCIM website for the Ayush doctors Curriculum both at Ug and pg level … having the knowledge in allopathy doesn’t mean to encourage cross pathy always it is essential in daily practice as well as there should be referrals to concerns specialist after preliminary examination and treatment which ultimately reflect in better public health care . No Ayush doctors wants to settle as quack in the society …there should be mutual understanding and respect between the medical professions

Moderndoctors ko apni fees nahi leni chaye poor people se aur treatment b kam kharche m ho ..q ki agar simple sa viral fever loose motion hai to wo government hospital k chakkar to lagaye ga na..q ki agar kuch set of modern medicine agar govt allow karti hai to usse koi pblm nahi hone wali hai..rular area m bhi mbbs doctors ko apna private clinic dalna chaiye jaha p fees bht hi kam ho unki na k barabar…

It’s good idea
Government of karnataka should give permission to ayush doctors to practise allopathy
This will decrease the scarcity of doctors

Dr. Amrita, the topic , you raised here is very important regarding national primary health system. I m not agree with your blog, although i m ayurvediic practioner and not prescribing any allopathic medicine. Before any discussion i would like to ask a simple question.
From which medical college , you got MBBS degree?
Shiv says
I must admit you have got very good writing skills. Congratulations for that..
Regarding the matter you have pointed out here I would like to ask you whether you have gone through the NMC bill??
Do you really know the current status of the same?
Moreover please share some facts and figures regarding the status of healthcare in rural and sub urban areas. This may further help people to know what is the actual status and what your post is actually aimed at.
The post is being portrayed towards the betterment of the poor but the hidden but clear meaning is to oppose the doctors of other system of medicines.
Answer me whether the doctors are really bothered about the health of the poor?? Do they really think about the betterment of the society??
If your answer is yes then what is the reason medical services which you call as a right of every person is now turned into a HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY??
Kindly think and try to realise whom you are actually opposing?? Your posts suggests that you are confused..
Kind regards

When the whole world is ready to accept INDIAN SYSTEM OF MEDICINE.. INDIANS themselves are not ready to accept an ayush doctor… How unfortunate it is… When people are ready to accept epics like MAHABHARATA & GEETHA without proof… To accept ayurvedic treatises they ask for proof… This just depicts a typical human… If you are Soo against the council how did u accept their certificate which certifies u as a doctor… If the council is playing gambling y are you under it…. It is no type GAMBLING…. PLEASE… Enough of HUMILIATION… Anyway… ALL THE VERY BEST for the results of bill… ULTIMATELY people deserve what they worth…
Dirghayu Prasad Kimothi says
No doubt but those who are getting zero or even negative marks in NEET get admission on the basis of money and become a Dr. What is your view for those please clarify. These Dr. Are better than jhola chap who are treating patients in rural, urban and even in Delhi
Nikamir says
Can you provide me the syllabus of m.b.b.s and b.a.m.s??? Because an ayurved doctor told me about similarity between both of the syllabus. He said that modern medicine is also a part of their syllabi as well as anatomy , physiology, p.s.m , pathology, ophthal, gynae & obs, surgery , toxicology, pharma are there. Where is the difference??? They study modern medicine along with their pathy. According to him the only difference is mind set of allopathic doctors as they are every thing. It is just a difference as upper caste( allopath) & lower caste( ayush). Because an allopathic doctors think ayush can not sit with them.
Chandana Chandu says
For ur kind information.. A BAMS student syllabus is twice the syllabus of a MBBS student.. They study both Ayurveda and modern science for the whole 5. 1/2 yrs… They are not to play with people’s lives.. They are just serve people with a good heart… Before ur long essay… U should have once checked out the syllabus of BAMS course… May be after that u wouldn’t write this here… They are not quacks… Never call them quacks… They are INDIAN DOCTORS.. Why should it be dispute… Is the Indian medical council Soo Careless to play with people’s lives… They know who worths what… When it comes to DOCTORS its passion… Moreover stop discriminating ma’am… We all are here to make the world a better place… Not to build walls and divide the nation… Let’s be INDIANS…

In India 1 doctor serves 1,668 people; 8 lakh doctors in total:
By Press Trust of India | New Delhi | Last Updated at February 03 2017 20:54 IST
India has one doctor for every 1,668 people, while nearly eight lakh doctors across the country may be in active service at present, “As per the information provided by Medical Council of India, there are a total 9,88,922 allopathic doctors registered with the state medical council or MCI as on June 30, 2016.
“Assuming 80 per cent availability, it is estimated that around 7.91 lakh doctors may be actually available for active service. It gives a doctor population ratio of 1:1668 as per current population estimate of 1.32 billion.
This could be the real fact why this MBBS doctors don’t want AYUSH doctors to reduce their 1:1668 ratio. The grandfather or even father of MBBS Doctor had been treated by an AYUSH doctor only.
When u talk n care about people’s health what to do with this 1:1668 ratio how could this ratio can be reduced without giving this opportunity of bridge course to AYUSH doctors who also study for 5 1/2 year like an MBBS doctor study or let the remaining patients to die on whom MBBS doctors service is not available only for because MBBS doctors don’t want AYUSH doctors to practice Allopathy if u hv any solution then just pass it to authorities who r really helping the needy n poor n even middle class people of India by giving this permission of bridge course.
Shelly says
Govt. wants to provide healthcare facility to each and every person. They are opting for AYUSH doctors because allopathy doctors want to live lavish lifestyles of cities and do not want to work in villages or tough mountain areas like J&K. You are right in one thing that govt. should promote AYUSH sub centres instead but such infrastructure is going to take lot of time and money. And one more thing AYURVEDA was the first system to introduce surgery. Sushrut is the father of surgery. Instead to criticizing govt., you should contribute something as a responsible citizen and go serve yourself to poor and underpriviliged. Writing a blog is easy but reality is tough.
Sunil mittal says
The bridge course is not going to make experts. Or special is in modern medicine but give legal access to few medicine which can be used in common diseases available at counter and emergency medicine at time of emergency it doesn’t tell and come so its right to train them and allow to use those medicines they r train ed in basic. Medical subjects like Anatomy physiology, community medicine and all other subjects like medicine. Obstetrics so training and permit thing is ok
Rural doctor says
You are telling half truth.
Why didn’t you told, all mbbs drs want to live and practice in metro cities and not ready to go to rural areas. If ayush drs were not there, then that poor people would not able to have proper treatment because of there poverty and lack of knowledge.
And you are telling you have spent some years in studing medicine which ayush drs are getting in 6 months. Ask this to your inner soul, weather you are not misguiding the people who don’t know reality or you yourself are speking with half knowledge? Ayush drs have studied every subject at there graduation level which you have studied at your mbbs level except pharmacology. So govt is giving them an apportunity to study pharmaclogy in bridge course of one year.
Your real sickness is not the poor people’s health or life. If it was so, why there is lack of mbbs practioners in rural area? Your sickness is ayush drs are eligible to take care of public’s health but they don’t have full powers. And bridge course will empower them to handle the health of people. And your importance will be reduced. So that is the main fact you are suffering from. Ayush drs will provide health care in reasonable price so your monopoly will be stopped. So you are crying so loudly.
And about surgeries, father of surgery is our proud Indian ayush Rushi sushruta. But people like you not allowed to development of it. For your information, no ayush Dr plays with people’s life by performing surgery where he is laacking in knowledge. All surgeries are being performed by allopathic surgeons. Bridge course at present not allows any ayush Dr to perform surgeries. So think of those poor people’s health. Government is doing somthing for there betterment, don’t oppose them for your personal benefit
Keyur Vakharia says
Madam, with all due respect to your credibility as a medical doctor, do not call AYUSH doctors ‘quack’. Remove that word from your blog. FYIP, I am not in favour of bridge course.
Zafar says
Dr amrita.. i am an ayush graduate and agree with you that we should practice our pathy instead of allopathy. But why you MBBS and post MBBS doctors have very narrow definiton of quackery? What about non qualified allied health people working in hospitals run by alopathy doctord? What about short courses in nursing, optometry, dialysis technology etc run by you people? You people appoint ayush graduates as junior doctor in your hospitals. You people are the only reason for spread of unqualified doctors. . You provide me your contact details and i will send you report on school drop out doctors trained and employed by you people.

try to understand the points of both side. After then you decide who is right or wrong. Ask Dr. amrita for syllabus of both m.b.b.s & b.a.m.s

Omg..this is like gambling with peoples lives. I am totally shaken by this report Dr. Amrita. As citizens of a fast developing democracy I think we should raise our voices against this.

Seriously Jhilmil
Dr.Amrita says
I feel for it too.
Nikamir says
Just go through the syllabus of both m.b.b.s & ayush. You can get all the answer about this. Both the syllabus are similar. The only difference is mindset of BADE LOG(m.b.b.s). They never want anyone to sit with them.
Vinod YADAV says
Agr ayush dr jhola chap h to tum allopathy wale kyu ayush treatment prescribe krte ho.or ha aaj rural area mai tum log nhi ho to wo kya treatment nhi krwaye.as a dr har koi yahi cahta h ki oska patient acha ho.

No death and diseases do not differentiate between the rich and the poor and so even we should not. Every body has a right to proper healthcare.
Nidhi KM says
Its a very important topic that you have brought up. We must pay attention to rights and sources of treatments
meghakatirapatni says
Rich or poor… Young or old.. An illness is an illnessi.. And proper treatment should be given to the concerned… The government will keep passing the ball to each other. Its high time a decision is made. I agree if Ayush has a list of experts why not set up a Ayush hospital..
pythoroshan says
It annoys me how short sighted and ill conceived these ideas are by the lawmakers. Literally a recipe for killing people and encouraging so many unethical practises.
Dr. Priyanka says
I strongly feel the people responsible for bringing this bill should be henceforth treated by such cross breeds ONLY. They should NOT be allowed to leave the country for getting treated at fancy centers in the US.
Dr.Amrita says
Seriousy. My thoughts are along the sam lines.
Princi Malhan says
Oh well…. I never thought of this dimension. I only thought it will somehow help the shortage of doctors.
Dr.Amrita says
Its an unfortunate solution.
