I was reading this article on google trends. I realized that so many people like me reset their priorities in this pandemic.
In 2020 January, we were thinking of several changes on the work and home front. But then lockdown happened, and things changed. Nobody knew this was going to happen, and it happened. Everyone suffered, but women and children have faced difficulties that no one talks about. But all the grim statistics are for some other post.
I remembered again, the only time we have is “now.” If we live through “now,” we will only have a future.
How well I plan now will change the quality of my life. My priorities are health, wealth & wisdom for & me, my dear ones. While I strive to be immortal & all-knowing, I am old enough to know better. Overthinking is the worst & best of my strengths, depending on the situation. It is best because it saves me a lot of trouble. Worst because it can drive the people around me nuts(sometimes).
I meander. I mean to say that I decided to really think about what I wanted in my life “now.” It bright forth some interesting realizations.
My Realizations from 2021
- I want to be healthy and be happy.
- I want to work and feel fulfilled. But I want my work to be flexible enough to not interfere with my priorities.
- I always wanted green plants, birds, butterflies around me. Open space and nature time, if not every day, every week is crucial for my wellbeing.
- I need empty time; free of any plans to just sit, think and reorder my thoughts and plan action.
- I need to hold my tongue better, so that. I don’t trip on it. It’s difficult to erase- unkind words. Relationship bridges fare better if you avoid dirty water throwing.
- Expect nothing. This one was even more difficult than the last one, but somehow even keeping it on the list helps prevent heartaches and many troubles.
- Reading gives me superpowers. This I always need to remember.
- Planning more on paper frees up my brain space. I want to do more of that.
- I should continue to challenge myself, learn and share, because I am a lifelong learner, and the thing I like even better than learning is the opportunity to teach.

A tight grip on the tongue is the hardest and i feel controlling your mind is the most difficult and efficient task once you achieve.
Good luck to you, dear. I know once a thing is on the paper, it’ll be ticked off too.

Looks like despite the pandemic you had a good 2021! Congratulations on your blog milestone! I happen to have hit 1,000 posts as well.
What I take from your pledges: empty time and low expecations. I will add “ask for help” and “lot go”. We’ll see how that works out.
Dr.Amrita Basu(MBBS,MS) says
“Let go” is something I am working on.
