The Loopiness of Life by Tanima Das is a book I read recently. The Kolkata connection of the protagonist Dhruv inspired me to pick up the book.
The book merges continents, ages, nationalities, past, present, future ,magic, realism ,science fiction into one giant melting pot.The result is well …interesting at best and loopy at times.
Book Blurb
It’s about Dhruv who struggles with his love life and destiny in equal measures .He is supposed to be saving the world but seems to repeat his mistakes in all his births. He has special powers in each of his life and the story is about him standing true to destiny, finding love and saving the world too.
Why you should read the Loopiness of Life ?
There is an interesting prologue to help you catch up,if you haven’t read the first part.
The story pulls you in with intense world building.
Fantasy meets the Indian landscape makes for an interesting genre.
Mention of familiar places like the State Bank of India is cute.
What I loved less:
The multiple life and mistakes the hero makes, though interesting, becomes a little tiring in the end when you just want to rush to finish the book so that you know what happens.
The conclusion thus appears a little hurried .Like the author got tired too.
Recommended for:
Those who like intense fantasy
For lazy summer days.
For those who want to get their mind off worries. The book keeps you on your toes!
Last words
It gives a Lord of the Ring meets Harry Potter meets Percy Jackson vibe.Definitely entertaining but too many characters with names which you usually don’t come across ages did make me a little loopy!
Go grab the book from your favorite retailer .
