Adulting? Is that a way of living? Is there a course on it? What about a book? Well my search around the book world, failed to guide me.I am still coping with adulting on a weekly basis .But thats a good place from the daily struggle I used to have in my twenties.
It’s better now and I hope one day my daughter will read this and be prepared while still having fun as a child. That is, the best part about the Internet. I can make provisions so that my blog survives beyond my mortal life.Because I realized …wait for it the first crucial bit…. my plan to be immortal may not work out.
Direct from Swami Vivekananda quote, this is not a onetime thing. Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill, a much-discussed book distills down to that. But there’s a corollary . You can’t just think and do nothing . The thoughts and self-belief must accompany your actions. Then and then only will you get what you believe you deserve.
There’s no downside to being healthy, staying healthy, and feeling healthy. The best part is you save your money by not missing paid work, buying medicines, getting tests done, and visiting hospitals and doctors. That loop is a drain for everyone and that’s something I know a little about .23 years in the Healthcare field and I know all about budget healthcare, state aid, private insurance, and personal wealth. The best decision will be to practice healthy habits and invest in them and your health. Because good health is the harbinger of true wealth.
I have no idea how to write this without sounding like an absolutist. I am not sure absolutist is even a real word. But we will discuss that later. For now, I will try explaining this thing. A little goes a long way. A little money saved becomes the rainy day fund. A little weight gain adds up to cause a serious health risk ten years down the line. Could be sooner depending on how little is little. For parents of little kids, this means you have to walk the talk otherwise no amount of lecturing will work. So to raise a reader, you have to be a reader. Fake it or do it for real because kids are master mimics and that could be tricky for us parents.
Start by doing chores, tuition, running a small business, writing books, start a blog (be careful of your privacy and privacy laws before sharing too much online though if it’s a personal blog). Invest in your PPF or NPS and have a plan for the money you earn.
All my blogging resources are here.I wrote the book “How to Start a Successful Blog in India” (self-promo) , but it’s a book I wish I had when I started blogging.
Education is the greatest gift after a healthy life. So sharing and passing forward what you can , where you are will change your life forever. Important to remember that “charity begins at home”, so practice this at home in whatever way you can. It’s not going to be easy, but it will reap dividends.
Your Spouse will be your most important adult decision, which will affect your health and wealth, so have a list of non-negotiables and then work from there. Easier said than done. But you have to know, right? How to marry right? I have a few tips. But there are no guarantees! Because honestly who knows the magic formula, right? But you could become the person you want to spend your life with, that way you would be giving a message out in the world about what makes you happy. Then when you meet that person you just know. Opposites do attract, but only in certain aspects. For a good life, you want negotiable conflicts, a companionable partner, a kind and law-abiding person in your life who believes in women’s rights, a good work ethic, and a good person. That list is growing long. But a special tip marry someone who is at least as smart as you.
This one is never discussed enough. Genetics is our internal coding. Our external environment determines how that coding expresses itself. Man is known by the company he keeps . You become what you are exposed to daily regularly . Children especially pickup mindsets and behaviors very quickly . That’s why learning to pick a good company, that is people who bring out your best and whose best you enhance is a crucial lifeskill.
Learn to cook: Your life depends on it literally. This I learned the hard way while working and studying during my postgraduation days .But I really got good at cooking (my way) during the pandemic. Keeping a cook was risky and a crash course in cooking while juggling all the other roles meant I had to learn shortcuts which were also healthy.
40 minutes to an hour of brisk walking every day will save you money .The money you would otherwise spend later for gym(and not go), blood tests, and doctor visits.A life long safe aerobic exercise that kicks off your endorphins while helping your entire body feel good. The walking and the writing connection is my all-time favourite topic.
Grow flowers and Edible greens . Eat from your garden, and I guarantee it will change your life . Grow plants on your terrace, balcony, windowsill, community garden, rooftop, office courtyard(if it’s allowed), buy land, plant, and share the produce. Garden with friends . Life will change for the better.

If you had a freeway billboard, what would it say?
Learn,Earn,Educate and Plant trees. That is my freeway billboard and my work, play, website, podcast, videos ,social media are all parts of that same message.
When we study and learn as kids we know about doing well.We know that will make us feel good, make our parents happy.A little older we realize that connection of the good result with the potential to earn.
A little wiser, while teaching our students and own kids we realize what we now know, is difficult to distill down to the little ears. You can’t expect a ten-year-old to grasp, what you understood in your thirties.
Learning is a life-long journey. Everyone can teach. On a recent trip to Prayagraj, a boatman happily told us about getting a boat as a tip from a happy customer. He got a tip from us too. But not a boat!I realized how words prime us to act a certain way. How it makes us feel. Words are powerful. Spoken words.Written words.Words we hear.Words in which we think(mindset) and the unspoken words, the hidden meaning in everyday communications, books, newspapers, messaging, and advertising.
This freeway billboard is my message to the world and the last part about planting trees I won’t explain because I want you to find the unwritten words in this blog post . What would be your message on the freeway billboard if money wasn’t a problem? Let me know in the comments below.

If you know about my love for CANVA you know how much I enjoy using CANVA and all the resources it offers for content entrepreneurs like me.
If you don’t know what a content entrepreneur is, hop over to The Content Inc. podcast and give it a listen. Now coming to CANVA.
When I started writing in 2014 I was focused on sharing health and wellness topics. As time flew by. I realized teaching about health wellness and nutrients starts at the very beginning of childhood for that matter. That’s why I decided to write for health awareness in kids too.I am a Doctor and had no interest in writing, blogging, and tech stuff ever. But it all changed in 2013 when with a baby in tow, I no longer wanted to be just an audience or reader, but also a creator. I had something I could share with the World wide web and make it better. I wanted to start my own Blog. Here’s my list of top free and paid resources I use on my blog.
Then when CANVA for Education offered free education accounts for schools and teachers I knew supporting CANVA was the right thing to do. That’s the reason I started my Online School in India Healthwealthbridge School it’s a CANVA website too, with which I linked my own domain.

I started blogging in 2014 and Canva was launched in India in 2015 when I signed up and my life changed forever. I was able to help three of my doctor friends launch their websites, and my sister’s and the Indian Association of Pediatrics Malda website too. Plus I was able to design book covers for all my books with CANVA and also launch my microschool online with a CANVA website.CANVA makes good design possible for busy people who want to share their message without hitting a design block. I have no background in design or digital design and CANVA is intuitive, fun, and revolutionary. I have been a pro user for 3 years and it’s one of the best decisions I made.

Necessity of knowing basic life support and the correct way of helping someone suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest is imperative. If you remember I had written about sudden cardiac arrest in a previous post and why constant training and retraining is needed for all healthcare workers and in fact for everyone.
The session was conducted free of charge and certificates were awarded after the session followed by a dinner party at Appayan restaurant in honor of the visiting doctors.

Health for all is what WHO is talking about this year. A special year when WHO has its 75th birthday. From 1948 to 2023 we have come a long way with member states striving hard to make the health of all possible.
Quality health starts with quality healthcare personnel. So lack of quality or quantity in that respect puts that at risk, Plus while we all wish to be healthy, we need to start building healthy habits right from childhood. Preventive healthcare habits need to be built up, for better health of the population.
Check out the WHO Health Milestones for 75 years
While the Government must do its part, the individual can do theirs by taking care of their own health with healthy choices every day. The food we eat, the daily exercise, sleep, and social, environmental, and mental health all takes their toll. Access to quality treatment needs the cooperation of the person, the healthcare industry with the Governmental machinery supporting it. Take away any one leg of this tripod the health system collapses. Unfortunately, that’s what is happening in NHS in the UK even though they have advanced technology and great healthcare workers. The budget is lowered until the system collapses.
WHO having an altruistic role leads us well but Healthcare economics is like the proverbial who-will-bell-the-cat situation. For a happy and healthy future, we need to work on the present now and every day.
Shift from economies driven by profit and pollution to economies driven by fairness and well-being.
Success must be measured by the well-being of people and healthy environments.
Engage and empower individuals, families, and communities for increased social participation and enhanced self-care in health. Ensure informed and active participation, with people at the center of health decisions and outcomes.
Strengthen integrated national health systems using a PHC approach to deliver essential quality services with financial protection, with equity-oriented, gender-sensitive, and rights-based programming to reach and engage those in greatest need and improve the health and well-being of all people at all ages.
Enable non-State actors to participate in government-led planning, progress reviews or implementation towards UHC.
