The yellow Hibiscus blooming in the summer sun and playing with her flower friends.I painted this one Sunday morning sitting on the covered porch of my village home. Its painted on cold pressed 300 GSM paper ,using watercolour, gel pens, fine liner pens and acrylics for some derail work. The light passing through the Hibiscus petals makes it look all “glowy”.
The Yellow Hibiscus is supposed to be extremely rare and found only in Hawaii. But it grows well even in West Bengal. It’s said to spread, positivity, love, cheer. Its also to be a sign of good luck and is the official state flower of Hawaii .The Hibiscus is a perennial flower Blooming throughout the year.It can be a shrub or a ten feet tall tree, depending on where you plant it.
I am thankful art came back into my life. I stopped drawing when I was ten.I don’t remember the why.I just stopped going to the art teacher who encouraged me to let my mind go free.Later my mom told me it was a financial decision.End of story ?
Not quite. In 2020 when the world went into hibernation during the pandemic, art came back into my life through Tangi .A much loved companion ,who left forever after changing my life.(Tangi was the social sharing and learning channel for art lovers created by Google ,before YouTube shorts .)
In the picture you can also see the apple red friendly Hibiscus and the Frangipani.Hibiscus in all its colours is a very Indian Summer friendly flower. The classic Indian Red(Chilli Red) Hibiscus lasts only a day and is Goddess Maa Kaali’s favourite flower. You will always find her garlands made of the red Hibiscus ,the big ones.
