Meet Snehal Sham! Author, Entrepreneur, Mom, Super BloggerChallenger,An Amateur Runner and a Learner.
Every day is a Mother’s Day but when it comes to the International Mother’s Day the best way I can say thank you to all the moms who are doing such a great job is to talk about them. That’s why I am back with my Entrepreneur feature . The good news is you will not only be reading about her business, learnings, and thoughts about being an entrepreneur. (Super secret news she will also be featured on my podcast.)
1)A little bit about your bio background and entrepreneurship story.
First of all Thank you Amrita for giving me this opportunity.ย I am a civil engineer, graduated from Nagpur University, completed my masters from Symbiosis, Pune in Geoinformatics.
Worked in IT/ITES/ Construction industry for around 8 years and then passed PMP, which is a Project Management Professional Certificate ( PMP)ย from USA. As I completed it, I started getting offers of freelance training for PMP prep course which used to be on weekends. I was working full time then. My daughter was 8 months old, I weighed the option of working full time and doing something I like on weekends. Monetarily, it was viable, and personally it was going to give me so much time with my daughter.
Slowly, after getting the freelance training assignments and also content writing work for PMP Prep Course for a renowned institute, I left my full time job.In the meanwhile, I learnt website development and design, I thought it would help me enhance the services that I provide.
This is how it started. Once the freelancing was going well, my husband suggested that we incorporate a company. It was 7th November 2014 that we incorporated Prolyfis Consulting Works.
2)What do you sell? How?
To answer your question, we sell services. The prevalence of digital media has triggered the need for a lot of services on the digital platform. Those services are website development, website content writing, and social media marketing.
We design websites write different types of content which help in social media marketing such as SEO website content, blogs, articles, social media posts, magazines, brochures and so on. We also specialize in Academic writing.
We sell it through social media marketing and business listings in 4 major cities in India, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Mumbai as of now. We would love to do business in Pune in this year.
3)Inspiration
What inspired me to be an entrepreneur?
Well, it was the zest of doing something which I liked.
Who inspired me to be an entrepreneur?
My husband. It was his dream to be an entrepreneur and he is living it through me.
4)Who helped you?
I should say the Universe came together and everybody helped in their own way.
My father has been a pillar of strength all through, he looked after my child during crucial time in my life. All the people who were working for the home at that time helped me enormously. My in-laws were very supportive of what I was doing. My sister was an advisor all through and now she is also working with Prolyfis looking after the business development department. My husband and my daughter were always very kind enough to adjust the odd-timings that I used to spend working.
5)Business model unwrapping
To put it simply, we get paid for the services that we offer. We get our business from various sources such as social media marketing, business listings, repeat business through existing customers, word of mouth publicity or through our blog.

Keep up with your time and commitments, it certainly helps in the long run
7)About money. How to make it grow? Your money tips for Business?
Good quality services or products, optimum pricing is the best way of growing your business. Investing 10% of your monthly revenue in marketing helps.
Being aware of oversizing and avoiding it is a key.
Streamlining processes, cutting overheads are some ways of getting more profit.
8)Legal hassles and set up issues.

Gated community advantages and disadvantages are plenty on both sides. For me, the advantages are more. But for many, this can be a difficult choice. In a city like Kolkata where the urban overcrowding is making green spaces and play areas a scarcity, the gated community may be just what you need.
When we were looking for a home we had a few things in mind.
Location, location location!Don’t be surprised. If both partners are working this can and will make or break the deal.Luckily we found a property with metro, car and the circular rail options all close by.
When location is perfect then I feel the other parts may be adjusted.Primarily you want it to be a haven.A tranquil oasis in a crowded jungle.Though I am always wishing for a green island, itโs still in the dream stage.Definitely one day.But for now, I will tell you why I love Gated communities.
Gated community: Advantages
The wordย Community
This takes on a new meaning when you are living with 500 other families. Not only is it a mini village in an urban setup, it actually helps set up an atmosphere for people to have a life outside their home and office. When itโs a community living together itโs easier to plan festivals, events and celebrate occasions with a close at hand group of social connections. Itโs unlikely to be best friends with everyone, but social courtesy makes being pleasant and friendly easier and less time-consuming.
You no longer have to travel halfway across the city to relax a favorite family club. The community club is perfect with its option of the indoor swimming pool and food options. If the maid is skipping then you never need to worry about making dinner after a long day at work.
Itโs also a support system in an emergency. While old-timeย para culture in Kolkata ensure the mashi, pishi, and kaku helped everyone when there was a family emergency.Nowadays itโs more difficult with commercial places jostling for spaces even in residential areas with standalone houses.
But even in complexes with commercial setup, the families are close-knit.Like this community initiative in Mumbai which made me smile.
Security
This is immense. While incidents of theft can happen anywhere, itโs easier to make sureย of good security in a gated community. There are often guards round the clock with intercom facility and now even CCTV monitoring. This is very expensive and difficult if itโs a standalone house. Now when itโs a single building with multiple flats often the maintenance budget is not enough for good quality security system. This may vary, but a casual guard at the gate is more likely making strangers have easy access to your home.
The Greenery and Quality of Life
Busy city life leaves little time for peace and relaxation. What happens to the weekends.A quick trip to Mandarmoni may not be possible with the weather and traffic being what it is in Kolkata.Wouldnโt it be perfect if you enjoy opportunityย ย to unwind right where you lived? Green places, trees, water bodies, kitchen garden, jogging path, flower garden everything. Also, you haveย little headache when it came to maintaining this.
This is where gated communities win hands down. You will be paying extra for these facilities but in the long run it’s well worth it.At the end of the day, aย stroll in the green park watching your kids play in the park will always bring a smile on your face. The sound of their laughter and the soft green grass underneath will make you feel lighter even after a heavy day at work. No waiting for vacations to live a little.Be alive every day .rejuvenate in your own community backyard and embrace daily wellness which will keep you healthier and more p roductive.
Lifestyle
Now this will have a mixed response from many. But if you are hardworking,ย you will want to enjoy the good things in life. The swimming pool once a month at an expensive family club, which you need to travel for two hours in high traffic to reach, is not a sign of healthy lifestyle.
Daily healthy lifestyle practices are needed for long-term benefits. The easiest way to do this is exercise daily and always include easy to maintain routines.Thatโs why the walkways, gym and swimming pool in gated communities will be a blessing for busy professionals.Don’t let your health take a backseat Go for a mooring walk, swim, lift a few weights and you are set for the day.
If you want a good lifestyle gated communities will make it easier. But not automatic. The choice will always be in your hand.
Maintenance
This is one headache which makes adulting a challenge.Imagine having a plumber, an electrician a jack of all trades available at the drop of a hat? This is what happens in a gated community where often many people are enrolled as maintenance staff. Some exclusive luxury communities also provide laundry, housekeeping and other specialized services. Even if this comes at a cost, itโs well worth the peace of mind.Service people are notoriously overworked and unavailable just when you need them.
Networking
The modern gated community often has a cluster of families with professionals. This gives you a unique opportunity for getting professional help when you need it .But use this with care.Lawyers donโt like discussing cases when they are relaxing with their families. Itโs best to take an appointment if you do need their advice professionally and not just gate-crash on family time.
Other facilities:
Daily amenities shops, schools, medicine shops Doctor’s chamber and a multitude of additional facilities are often offered inside gated Communities.Like in South City Kolkata the school, mall and the medicine shop makes it a complete township, with no need to step out even on weekends. The spacious community spaces are also great for hosting family functions with very little headache.Backup power, water treatment plants, rooftop gardens and even badminton courts are often added as perks.
More property Value
While the cost of buying is more, so is the property value during reselling.Definitely a big factor when you decide to buy a home for investment purpose.
Gated community: Disadvantages
The price
Cost of living in a gated community may be higher than average.Itโs often more than a standalone building flat. The common spaces and extras make the cost higher. But this is more of an investment toย have goodย ย long term quality of life on a daily basis. But be careful while balancing the home loan with lifestyle. The pressure of the EMI will play a significant effect on life.So donโt go for luxury properties if you will be paying off the loan for more than your working life or compromising on important financial investments like health, education or retirement planning. So itโs a balance.
Gated communities need good maintenance. Until and unless the cooperative managing it is sincere, this can be a nightmare. You will be paying for everything and still have to shell out more during emergencies.
The extras promised during selling the flat donโt look so good when you look at your bank balance and rising costs of daily living. The more people there are the more the chaos sometimes.
But at the end of the day, itโs your life, you need to choose what will keep you happy.
Buying your home is an important decision so choose wisely.
A few gated communities in Kolkata which I loved
Vedic Village
South City Kolkata
Diamond City South and North
Greenfield City
Modello High with all AC flats, a dedicated commercial space and state of art amenities like elevated podium swimming pool etc make it a Dream Home for you and your family.
One standalone property which may trump it all
Trump Tower Kolkata is all set to change how you think ofย Kolkata. The skyline is never going to be the same again and they have a rooftop swimming pool.
Takeaway:
Gated community, standalone property? The answer will depend on your budget, your needs and how important you think the quality of life is.Tell me in the comments below your thoughts.Which one is your favourite?

Wigs for women help a lot to tide over. Good quality wigs help to keep looking good without feeling the stress of changing appearance. Cancer treatment is difficult. There’s no easy way to deal with it except be prepared with the best help you have. As a doctor, Iย always encourage my patients to concentrate on self-care and appearance. That always helps in boosting up the morale and has a wonderful effect on healing.
Divatress has an extensive selection of Lace Front Wigs, Full Wigs, Half Wigs, Hair Extensions. They are 100% Remy Human Hair and looks natural. That’s a big help you just want to feel better again. Wigs help in bridging the gap.
Becauseย women needย to feel good about themselves. That’s the first step in getting better. The best part you can change your hairstyle every month and not worry about using harsh chemicals and styling to look good. While your natural hair heals and grows back, having a little help to look and feel good is the right way to do it. Natural hair care and skin care. The more you go back to natural products, the better it is. The best part about natural products is they can be as easy as using the homemade curd as a hair pack. Hot oil therapy at home with coconut oil can go a long way in providing much-needed nutrition to your hair.
Don’tย forget toย include prebioticsย and probioticsย to rehabilitateย the friendly bacteria in the gut.
Avoid excessive spice foodย smokingย orย alcohol. Allย these make healing difficult.
Supplements
Have multivitamins andย multimineralsย for supplementing nutrition and help your cells recover. Using Vitamin E mixed with hair oilย helps improveย hair quality.
Antioxidants play a big role in helping your cells recover.
For the Mind
Meditation and exercise have a big role to play.
Take up a hobby.
Garden, draw, write. Creativity helps you heal faster.
Drinkย adequateย water because drying of the mucosa increases after radiotherapy.
Take care of your hygiene. Immunity being lower, you need to be very careful about using a public washroom.
Remember radiotherapy rays help killย the evilย cancerย cells, but your brave soldier cells get a beating too. To help themย recover you need to give them a helpingย hand.

This is a series of posts inspired by #AtoZ challenge.I will be demystifying the steps which you need to take to become a doctor in India. While I chart the A to Z of it I will share an actual blueprint of what exactly worked for me in the concluding part.
The intangibles
Empathy, energy, and etiquette.
Empathy is a rare quality. But I believe anyone who wants to be a doctor needs to have empathy. That will make you a good doctor. The only kind you should be.
Being a doctor is hard work and sleepless nights.
When do you start losing sleep?
From the first item tests or subject wise short vivas that you are subjected to after each segment is completed. This is right form first year.If you don’t study every dayย you will lose even more sleep. While this sleeplessness will depend on you with good planning it should not be a problem.
But we have some more fun stuff. When you become an intern you will have 24-hour on-call duties with post duty opd or surgery or ward rotations.Believe me, after 36 hours at the hospital the only thing you will have energy for is sleeping.
So thats, why good food, exercise, and healthy lifestyle habits formed early in life, will keep you fit enough to use your brainย quickly.Thats why being a doctor is tough You will be deciding on important issues even when you are tired to the bone.
You can do it if you are passionate but it will be hard even then. The upside is you will learn like no book can teach you. It’s amazing what internship teraches. It’s the only time in your life you will be trained in all the branches of medical studies together and will learn to process the varied information quickly and accurately.
Energy drinks should be protein rich and low on sugar .Protein-rich meals will help you be stronger and keep your immunity boosted. If you are going to be a soldier against illness and disease, your own immunity needs to be in top shape.
Drink sufficient water and carry own water bottle.
The Subjectsย
Eye and ENT
Both subjects are part ofย Third Professional MBBS.These subjects will welcome you into the world of Clinical medicine. Both taught at the undergrads and have Postgrad Diploma and Degrees. Both have both Medical and surgical practices. The degree is an M.S or Master of Surgery.I did my M.S ENT from Safdarjung hospital New Delhi and it was the best experience and training I could ever hope for.Delhi is a favorite memory even now. That”s where we lived after we got married and that’s where I made some of my best friends.
Both also require work in the field of specially-abled children.
Faith, Financial freedom,ย FSM and Family planning
Faith needs to be strong.Believe in a higher power who guides your path.Life and death are predetermined. Your work is to help serve those in need.Always respect those who let you help them. That’s how you win those brownies for the afterlife. There is one believe me(top secret)
The subject
Forensic Medicine /FSMย
Forensic science is the application of science to criminal and civil laws.It is used during the criminal investigation. It is governed by the legal standards of admissible evidence and criminal procedure.
When Forensic science and Medicine is taught together it’s an exciting branch where you will learn all about identifying the weapon from injury.Reconstruction of attack from wounds.Determining possible cause and nature of Death.
It is all things which medical detectives do on TV just even better. That’s why Robin Cook writes such brilliant medical thrillers and Arthur Conan Doyle could create a Sherlock Holmes.
[bctt tweet=”Doctors, after all, are natural detectives. We detect the mysteryย ailment deep within you from the clues (what you say and what we see, hear and feel) #Healthwealthbridge #drAmritawrites” username=”misra_amrita”]
Taught in the second year, you appear for the exam in the second Professional MBBS.You learn about medico-legal issues doctors musrt be aware about when in practice.
This also has a post-grad qualification and opens up the scope of work even beyond becoming a physician.
About Financial Independence: I am passionate about this
Remember as an MBBS grad you are fully qualified to be a practicing General physician and for joining Government Hospitals and Medical colleges as a Medical Officer in various departments. One of the few branches of education which makes you financially independent after a graduation degree.
An internship has a good stipend. It’s paid and will make you feel on top of the world. When we did our internship it was only Rs 4000 given in West Bengal .But considering or per year study cost was Rs 200 this still made us feel like a King. While becoming a Doctor is neither fast nor an easy way to becoming financially free, but if you study sincerely it is one of the most definite ways of becoming financially free after your grads.
Its only after an internship that you get a permanent registration as a doctor in the Indian Medical Association. We need to update our future qualifications as and when we get it.Watch the video below to know more.

Doctors need to develop self confidence to assess each person with ailment on a case to case basis with available ย patient information and current best practices. This is where the true challenge lies.Since each diagnosis needs human interaction on a one to one basis the doctor-patient ratio in India makes this an insurmountable problem until Family planning is made the number one priority.
