“ORS Awareness Week” (ORS সচেতনতা সপ্তাহ) from July 25th to July 31st, organized by the West Bengal Academy of Pediatrics.

IAP Malda Branch is conducting a Health education Program along with Rail Hospital Malda to spread the message.

ORS Awareness Week:
This initiative focuses on raising awareness about Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) for managing dehydration, particularly important for children.

Organizer:
The campaign is conducted by the West Bengal Academy of Pediatrics, a professional body of pediatricians.
It promotes the importance of ORS in preventing and treating dehydration, especially during periods when diarrheal diseases are more prevalent.

We children always seemed to think the same
Schools and tests looked such a bore.
Playing around was what we wanted more
Science, English and math problems,
But truly, it was for friends, to school we came.
Picking ripe fruit off the tree
Running about, fully free!
Swimming around in the pond
Pretending to be wizards with magic wands
Have you not guessed?
The time you feel the most blessed?
I promise, the answer is good
Because it is your childhood.

Ankura Hospital Strengthens Neonatal Care with State-of-the-Art Milk Bank

Supported by experts and neonatal leaders, the initiative aims to reduce risks for preterm infants and promote breastfeeding awareness.

Hyderabad, 23 July 2025: Ankura Hospital for Women and Children has taken a significant step to enhance neonatal care with the inauguration of the ‘Ankura-Dhaatri Milk Bank’ at its LB Nagar branch. The initiative was inaugurated by Prof. Praveen Kumar, Head of Neonatology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, and witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries including Dr. Srisailam Kothuru (President, NNF Telangana), Dr. Srinidhi Thirunagari (Director, Ankura Hospital), Dr. Vijay Kumar (Superintendent, Niloufer Hospital), and Dr. Santosh Kumar Kraleti (General Secretary, Sushena Health Foundation). This pioneering facility aims to provide safe, screened, and pasteurized breast milk from healthy donor mothers to premature and critically ill newborns, offering them a stronger chance at survival and healthy development.

Breast milk is widely regarded as nature’s perfect food for infants, containing a unique blend of antibodies, enzymes, and white blood cells that protect against infections while supporting overall growth. It has been proven to reduce the risk of long-term health conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and certain cancers. Beyond its nutritional value, breastfeeding strengthens the bond between mother and child and benefits mothers by reducing the risk of certain cancers, diabetes, and aiding recovery after childbirth. For fragile and premature babies, the availability of breast milk is often life-saving, helping to prevent conditions like Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), which is common in preterm infants.

Speaking at the launch, Prof. Praveen Kumar said, “A human milk bank is not just a healthcare facility—it is a lifeline of love and science. Every drop of donor milk can save a fragile baby’s life, and initiatives like these bring hope to families during their most challenging times.”

Dr. Srinivas Murki, Chief Neonatologist at Ankura Hospital, LB Nagar, emphasized, “Breast milk is the most complete and digestible food for newborns. The first feed—colostrum—given within one hour of birth is rich in antibodies and DHA, essential for brain development. It boosts immunity and supports healthy gut bacteria. For premature and critically ill babies, donor milk can truly make the difference between life and death.”

Adding to this, Dr. Srisailam Kothuru remarked, “The establishment of a dedicated milk bank in Hyderabad is a milestone for neonatal health in Telangana. It sets a strong example for hospitals across the state to prioritishuman milk as the gold standard for infant nutrition.”

Dr. K. P. Vunnam, Founder of Ankura Hospital, added, “We are proud to launch the Ankura-Dhaatri Milk Bank, which is integrated with all NICUs across Ankura Hospitals. This initiative ensures that even the most vulnerable babies receive optimal nutrition and care. Book beachfront stays – Enjoy front-row access to those waves and sunsets.You dont want long walk or cars for visiting the beach .We went for beach walks to see the sunrise ,after breakfast for bathing and in the evening watching the sunset along with coconut water and plenty of ice -creams and cold coffees.

3. Savor Goan flavors – Don’t miss dishes like vindaloo, sorpotel, and fresh seafood.i love sea food and with the variety you don’t miss rice,roti,bread or dessert

4. Mix lazy days with active fun – From beach naps to water sports, choose your balance.We did it all.We went sailing in the Sal river,dolphin watching in the Arabian sea too with ,water scooter riding paragliding last time.This time it was dolphin watching ,sailing ,visited the Dudh Sagar falls (a very difficult trek )and had a good time splashing in the sea water every day.

Today’s post was written by my daughter for her class 7 school work ,which I am publishing on the blog now.

Today I will be sharing my thoughts on the importance of reading.

Reading is a life long skill and hobby that a improves both your reasoning skills as well as vocabulary. Books require no gadget, no internet connection to be read , (unless its on an ebook/ pdf online.)

This activity can help you both spend your time well, along with having fun. It can satisfy your curiosity about the world. There are of course many genres to read from, and it depends on the reader whether they prefer fiction, or non-fiction.

Some people (like me and my mom) love re-reading old favorites as comfort read.

So,why read a book ?

Here are some benefits of reading books. .

Firstly, it boosts your focus and concentration.
Secondly, it exposes you to new languages, words, world,cultures,and concepts.It opens up the mind and makes one more accepting of new ideas,thoughts and people.
Thirdly it help you build creative thinking skills. Thinking out of the box, helps you navigate tricky situations in real life and helps you become more resilient.
It is a super skill, that lets you explore life from different points of views and angles and travel the world from your home.
It helps you find teachers amongst great men and women,who are no more but have written down their words on paper.
Also it helps you relax and become mindful.
It builds empathy and social skills.I make friends way easily .
It helps you become good in studies ,because learning requires good reading skill.Reading is very beneficial to students and plays an important role in academies. Research has found that Children with better reading skill find understanding topics easier.
It helps you write better and become a better communicator
Reading is a super skill and the best part is…it’s fun too!

Nowadays we can’t see may many people who’ll say that they like to read.Mostly everyone is busy with devices. Though I myself like to read, its uncommon to find someone else with the same hobby except my mother,my aunt and my grand ma .My mother reads everything including my messages .
