Blogging for business is not on the agenda for many. They may just want to write a journal, share their creativity, rant, spread awareness and educate. Whatever it is. But in order to be sustainable, you will have to plan, if you want to keep doing it.
If none of the above are your goal, then maybe you will share the reason behind why you blog with me.
Amazon is cutting affiliate commission, the economy is not as good as it should be and you donโt know what to do with your blog, From the day I became eighteen I wanted to be financially independent. Thatโs my blog’s goal too. It must sustain itself. Whatever work I do it must support the money spent on the domain and hosting.
If not, then in times like these it gets difficult. If you do want to earn money through blogging, then you must have a plan. I talk about blog monetization in my book too. But today I will share why I find Blogs powerful.
Blogs, if self-hosted is your fiefdom. You control PUBLISHING
The content, the pictures, the tone, the advertising, branding timing, everything. You are the one person who is answerable. That is important.
Sticky note:ย This also makes you liable for fraud, plagiarism, misrepresentation, and defamation suits, if you are not careful. Blogging is serious fun. But itโs also serious.
Blogs are the mother of work from home.
You work from anywhere. Blog anytime, day or night. For moms, this is a golden opportunity to keep creating your online resume, for whatever work you do. Nowadays blogging and technical writing is both a part of the online presence of most brands.
Blogs help sustain your mental health, if you do it right.
Blogging is writing. Thatโs the crux of it. If you are like me and have no inkling why you started writing, but you feel unhappy not writing, you know what I am talking about.
If I donโt write I am sad. There are times when I get overwhelmed and donโt know what to do first. Then Iย open a word doc and start writing. I remember it took courage to buy a domain name and hosting six years back when I knew even less. If not for blogging, new Corona crazy times would be savage. But because I blog, its easier to cope. Somewhat.
