Mandarmoni for the holidays? The best Sea Beach in India according to my experience is Mandarmoni.
You may ask me what makes me an authority. Well, I have traveled quite a bit. The sea beaches I have traveled to include:
Digha
Tajpur
Pondicherry
Goa
I had forgotten how many times we visited Mandarmoni. But post lockdown three times. Once in 2020 December, then August, and now again end of the year plans. The reason behind this is because, with a little one who is still to receive her vaccine and sudden lockdowns, we dont want to be stranded out of state.Sea beaches are always a favorite place to chill and relax with kids. Space is now even more of a requirement, and what better than a sea beach.
During travel, when my daughter was a kid, my hubby was the preferred lap; he categorically avoided mountains.
Now why Mandarmoni is such a favorite beach?
It’s secluded.
Less touristy and you are forced to relax.Thats a good thing.
It’s easy to reach.
I adore visiting the Sonar Bangla property with its wonderful view
Visit Sonar Bangla at Mandarmoni. We visited twice, once at Christmas and once in August. Two different experiences because in August, we were flooded, and the property was recovering from the Yash cyclone. The landscaping of Sonar Bangla was severely damaged, but the sea makes all troubles look small in comparison.
What did we do?
We booked the Platinum rooms above the reception. It was a lovely surprise to see the gorgeous two seventy-degree views of the property. The food was good. The room service was good; the location was outstanding.
The calm of sitting with hot cups of chai and fish fingers while the sea crashes down into the beach is outstanding. The tides were high, and the resort was still getting flooded with each high tide. We wanted to avoid indoor dining in the restaurant, so we sat poolside, having breakfast with our feet submerged in the seawater.
It left behind a variety of objects which the staff seemed to be clearing throughout the day. In the afternoon and evening, it was pleasant. We went for walks along the beach, ran, picked up seashells, and had a fabulous time sipping, munching, and chatting.
The resort was occupied and no longer overcrowded, and that helped us do our thing without stressing.
Three of us were fully vaccinated, two were partly, and a kid was unvaccinated.
How to reach Sonar Bangla Mandarmoni?
We always hire a car, and the owner himself often traveled with us to these resorts. A conscientious person, he always wears an N95 giving us peace of mind.
Suppose you want to go to Sonar Bangla, book online in advance. You can even call them up for specific queries.
Travel in a comfortable SUV.
Start early, around 6 am so that you reach by lunchtime. On the road, you can have breakfast near Kolaghat at the Sher-e-Punjab. They are upgrading like how. Now they have a hotel and an adjacent smaller restaurant and have bought the parking lot next door. Call us old-fashioned we still like eating at the old place. Everything is delicious, and the service is impeccable, be it breakfast, lunch, dinner, just food cravings.
Carry Sanitizers, Arogya setu app, and a vaccine certificate or COVID 19 RTPCR may be needed. The notifications keep changing, and the local administration may do spot checks on the road. A few cars ahead of us were turned back.
We carried our rapid kit, tooโpack light.
What to eat at Sonar Bangla?
The breakfast is a little lackluster, which must buffet are. But the lunch and dinner a-la-carte options are good.
Their Hilsa was beautiful. Eat seasonal fish. They have crabs, prawns, and a variety of fish delight on the menu. Their yellow dal, aloo bhaja, and various fried fishes are great hits with kids.
The swimming pool is excellent, including the kid’s pool. Carry your swim robes; it’s not provided sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat for kids and you.
While heading back to Kolkata, the best option is to head out after breakfast, Sher-e-Punjab to the rescue for lunch. A big fan of their special tea and the mutton pulao. Also, check out their range of kebabs. Have your meals and head back to Kolkata. Avoid late nights with kids on the road due to heavy vehicular traffic and other issues. Staycation or family holidays, Sonar Bangla never fails to give us a warm welcome and beautiful memories. Let me know if you have visited Sonar Bangla or Sher- e-Punjab in the comments below.
