The Pandemic changed how we live, eat, breathe and even think. But what didn’t change was the constant search for tasty home cooked meals. The ones which don’t makeย you feel faint reading the recipe. Growing up my mom and sister never let me miss tasty home cooked meals .
While my mom made ever day meal delicious my sister was the quintessential gourmet cook. Her love for Sanjeev Kapoor ,Tarla Dalal ,Nigella Lawson and the Masterchef Australia show kept me and my tummy happy.I was a willing clean up incharge.I was also the official taster.
Life was good.In my hostel days in Delhi I found idling, dosa and breK pakora my staple snacks.Having that fir three years has made me unable to look at an idle or dosaย from 2010to 2013 .After that I was happy indulging in Idli for breakfast from Ramkrishna lunch home , right across our place in Kolkata.
When I traveled to Malda for work, outside food was a strict no no.The favourite Rannar mashi arrived. She was kind helpful, with a sweet temperament but she had a love for extra oil.My airfryerย helped her fight the pour-extra-oil-over-everything syndrome. But this is my nostalgia speaking.Since 2020 March I have no cook.Everytime we talk to a cook,COVID strikes somewhereย and we battle on.
But I digress,I got today’s book Bread and Breakfast from the Blogchatter library to avoid slowly falling into the dumps of boring recipes. It didn’t disappoint. The book is written by Lawyer author blogger and is chock fill of delicious recipes, both using bread and from scratch.I am forever trying to make ragi idl and faring miserably. So hopefully this time I will do better.
There are twenty recipes. My favorites from the book are :
Bread rolls,Focaccia,Ragi idli Ragi dosa, Wheat jaggery chilla,Cheesy moonglet.
Biggest draw back is, I can’t taste along, while I read. There should be tasters with cook books. Definitely something to think about.Ever since I read the book I am dreaming of bread rolls and Cheesy moonglets.
