Collab topic was Peony.That was the easy part.
Watercolour Peony was my plan.Only one small problem.I have never painted a Peony.Even more interesting challenge,I have never even seen one in real life.
It was a OMG moment when I knew I would end up falling flat on my face.But I rarely give up on good challenges and I am happy to report I finally submitted the painting within deadline.
I started my Watercolour journey with @tangivideos .I became friends with a wonderful generous artist Thea.She invited me for a journey with Peonies in June.
You don’t find Peonies in my part of the world.So I watched Peony photos,videos, rewatched Peony tutorials.Then I was sure ,I simply can’t do this.
Painting with such talented artists,my imposter syndrome jumped up in glee.
But I had already practiced so many times, that I was now dreaming about Peonies.
There were Peonies everywhere.
Only way to get them out from my head was paint them for the challenge.
Box ticked.
Here’s a beautiful floral Peony bouquet for you to enjoy this weekend.
I drew ,doodled,watercoloured.The Peony insisted on becoming colorful blobs.
When I tried shading them,they looked liked wrinkled old women with garish makeup.
It was like I had to play while painting,but still be serious enough to remember how the real flower looked.
The penultimate painting was nice .No more a glob ,but something felt off.
I was ready to stop.
But then I decided “one more time.”
The Britney saga and her court battle triggered the “Baby one more time ” to loop on my playlist and I painted again.
I knew for this challenge ,this is it .

Hello Dr. Amrita, very lovely painting of peonies. I have some in my front yard and yours look just like them. I have painted a few things by pictures and videos, but nothing I have never seen before, that must have been quite a challenge. That is until your dreams and process of them started flowing out of your creativity. Nice work, I love your watercolors. You have inspired me to get back into that art medium. Thank you for sharing. What beautiful paintings of peonies. Your post also brought back wonderful memories of my mom. She loved peonies and we had them lined up our path in the house I grew up in.
