Will wishes come true,if I wish a lot?Everyday, all day till they come true?

I once wrote a letter called writing a letter to the universe. I am a big believer in the collective consciousness and the power of prayer.

Our brain cells are amazing. They produce tiny amounts of electricity which helps transmit signals. That’s what an Electroencephalogram or EEG measures.

Is it possible that these itsy bits of electricity can send out signals which together with millions of such signals is what collective consciousness is made of?

Or is that just a theory?

Theory or not,there’s no harm in continuing doing good work and praying hard for the world to heal.

When I  read Ikigai,I realized that Japanese wisdom is very similar to Indian traditional wisdom. We do share a lot of history.

But the most important takeaway was how staying active keeps us healthy . Activity is crucial for a long and fruitful life . Using our hands to work and brains to think is lifesaving and soul-enriching.

COVID showed me what my family is made of and what we can do when our backs is hitting the wall.

What I wish for you world

Let the world heal.

Let the world find its friends.

Let people forget artificial differences. 

Let all children get equal opportunities for education and a beautiful world.

Let nature be restored in its glory.

Let the flowers bloom, birds fly, and leave the dance.

Let us all find peace.

Let our loved ones be safe.

Let all children learn how to care. They are the future and we need to teach empathy. 

Let us all learn to be creators and not mere consumers.

Let entrepreneurship be a mandatory skillset like literacy.

Let financial wisdom be taught at schools.

Let us remember this time . Because no experience is without its lessons.

Let the vaccine come soon.

Let the medicines get better.

Let us take better care of our bodies so that we can be stronger.

Let there be sense and sensibility.

Let those who prey on others’ weaknesses, be exposed and learn their lesson.

Let evil be destroyed.

Let China find its nemesis. Karma is tricky and each action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Let us all have hope in our words, faith in our hearts, and prayers on our lips.

Once upon a time in September of 2014 I got my first plant.I had three small balconies.It didn’t take me long to fill them up.

I loved looking at my green friends .But in 2014 I didn’t know they would save my life .

Yes in 2020 Corona times thanks to the Dragon’s unfair habits we are still far away from the normal.

Travels and nature walks are still far way off.Its a walk around my balcony that’s keeping me happy and feeling good.

There are many reasons to thank the green plants for.Oxygen and our life is right there at the top.But a close second is their ability to promote wellbeing.Whenever I feel demotivated a walk around the balcony garden,watering plants and staring at them instantly makes me feel better.

The Krishna Mishra mystery started in March 2020. Almost at the same time as my travel plans fell flat. The first was published in April 2020 and book 2 was just released on August 31st.

While I wrote this second book I discovered something…

Writing fiction is like playing in the sand. You can build anything you want and let your imagination be wild.

All the  voices which never seem to stop saying stuff to you work together to let your hands write down their words. They practically line up in a queue to tell their version of the story.

Now Krishna Mishra got his name in part because I am a big fan of Lord Krishna and his super quotes. Mishra is another way of writing my surname after marriage. But it’s also because it came in my dream????. Yes, it did and I  liked how it sounded.

So there was Krishna Mishra standing in my dream talking about appearing in my books.I did tell him I like reading and watching mysteries rather than write them.But he wouldn’t listen.

But who exactly is Krishna Mishra?

Krishna Mishra is an ex-Army intelligence officer and has MBBS under his belt. Then he specialized in Forensics medicine and enrolled in the army. Nowadays, he has his own detective agency. He is around six feet, lean muscled, mostly clean-shaven and likes traveling. He was a recluse before he met his wife and trust doesn’t come easy. He prefers mangoes the way they are, rather than shakes and in desserts.

 His wife Ria is his best friend, assistant, boss, and famous in her own rights. A movie star turned journalist, she was petite and gorgeous. They love solving devious crimes and gorging on delicious food. Both don’t happen at the same time in most cases!

Now after all this build up I must tell you about my book.

Abot writing fiction, nonfiction and the beautiful crazy mess that life is!

Writing fiction and nonfiction are two different buckets to fill. I enjoy doing both. But I do it alternately. It’s like my brain gets a rest from the deep-dive research mode of nonfiction and takes flights of fantasy when I write fiction.

Writing nonfiction helps me spread the word about a topic. Then when I finish writing a mystery my brain is happy to relax reading a medical textbook. There’s comfort in the familiar.

I like the ability to have control over what my character will cook and eat. Writing about the food they enjoy is superfun.

But is writing fiction easy? Its make-believe after all.No, it’s not. It’s like the tooth which id wobbly and pains till it falls and then you have this empty feeling inside. Till another story comes and sits there.

I love the ability to travel with my characters. It’s like having Goopi Bagha’s magic slippers or port keys or floo powder or a little bit of everything.

There are lots of reasons why I should probably not write fiction. Branding is one of them. But one good reason for me to do it-I enjoy this. I also thought of having a pen name. But the legal stuff behind that made my head reel.I decided to just write under my won name and see what happens.

The world needs fun,laughter,good food and mysteries .That’s why I wrote fiction in 2020.

7 Ways to make kids fall in love with Creative Writing #CauseAChatter

I remember writing a poem back in school. The only memory I have of writing poetry. I remember I wrote it, because I won the third prize for it. I have zero recollection about the topic or what I wrote.I never thought writing was my ‘thing’.Ever.

It’s a difficult art form for me and I still feel surprised that I could rhyme!

Now my daughter loves rhyming stuff both in Bengali and English.

Watching her enjoy herself drawing,writing crafting I realize the art forms are very fluid.Using one, opens up portals to the others.Its like a portkey to creative life.

My daughter likes to  draw and scribbles stories about what she draws.

Last Wednesday she was asked to find five leaves , stick them on a paper and write a poem about the  five leaves .This is what she wrote.

7 Steps to make kids love Creative Writing

1) If  you want them to write better stories, you better help them read more.

Reading habits are crucial for writing better.

When you want your kids to read a book.Start reading with them.If you want them to write better, read with them

Read stories together.Reading and writing go together.If you don’t find the time to read you just don’t have the resources to write.Or even if you do write, you run the risk of running dry!

All creative wells need refilling.Reading is a sure fire way to help kids write better.The better stories they read ,the more their imagination flowers.They definitely write better .Happens with me , happens with my daughter.

7 Tips to make Kids love Creative Writing

2)Kindle their imagination.My daughter told me that watching me draw makes her hungry for “art”. That’s a super clue.The trick to make things more interesting is if kids see you having fun with it.There’s nothing more contagious than having fun!

Don’t force them to write in a certain way.Let their imagination go wild.

3) Get rid of the fear that arts and science don’t go together.Its a man made difference.Your brain has two parts and you can learn to use both.There’s an art to science and a science of arts. It’s all a matter of perspective. Excelling in everything according to preset parameters,is not the objective here.The plan is to learn to think out of the box, be creative and learn to write freely.

4) Free writing:It is liberating for the soul.Its a gift you would want to give your child.The more she learns to think objectively while expressing , the better equipped she will be to find solutions .Creative writing needs to start with her zone of interest and push her boundaries.????

If she likes drawing more,ask her to draw a picture and then tell a story about what she drew.This will help her plan her pictures better.????

If she already likes writing, ask her to draw pictures depicting her writing.This will help her make her stories and poems more visual.

5) Teach them to self edit.

This one is hard for you and me and tougher for kids .Eight and older kids can learn to use Grammarly too. Its that easy.The best part, is when it’s an AI they are less likely to feel bad being critiqued.

Kids expect all their work to be masterpieces and they are.That’s the secret ingredient behind parents loving all the magic they create.But in the real world improvement comes from self improvement.As parents you can teach them to edit and correct without feeling sad.When they learn to correct themselves , they start learning to write better.

6)Use the cartoon or graphic novel method.

They are popular  for a reason.My little girl didn’t want to read some of my favourite famous five because they lacked pictures.Young children needs pictures to imagine.So if you want them to learn to write better,draw pictures with them and then write stories about those pictures .The words will flow better.

7) Take inspiration from nature.Watch birds together.Having a bird feeder on the balcony helped us watch mommy birds feeding baby birds and that’s part of many stories we told each other.????

Looking at seeds germinate????, buds flower????,butterflies play hide and seek????,????ants crawl and our goldfish swim???? were stories which happened.

8 )Take inspiration from science projects.Ask them to make a cartoon story about a concept they learned.Teach them about gravity and then weave a story out if it.The apple did fall from the tree! ????

8)Practice writing together .If you  write with them, they will enjoy it more.Write different stories with the same prompt.Play a story antakshsri on paper and see how much fun writing becomes. I guarantee, it  helps. ????

9) Travel stories.????

When you travel ask them to keep notes in a small journal.Coming back or when on  the train or plane talk about the journey.Then ask them to write about it and doodle along.

You will enjoy their version of travel stories about the food they liked and hated about the hits and misses.

10) Exercise or play just before sitting down to write. ????

Exercise held improve levels of endorphins in your brain.This feel good chemical will help get those words out.When you teach them the connection between walking or exercising with writing,you are building super life skills.Helping their brain and improves cognitive skills at the same time.

Creative writing helps your brain do somersaults.They help you build better connections .Brain wellbeing means exercising your brain .Doing something difficult, which challenges your brain is a great way to do just that.

As parents when you teach your child to use their Creative writing skills, you help them develop their right brain.STEM education and left brain thinking plus supercharging the right brain helps kids become better thinkers.Creative at problem-solving,and design thinking. When you give them habits for the real world and improve their cognitive skills, there’s no downside.

Did I tell you she is a great grand mom?If that’s not inspiring that she is 71 and started blogging in 2014 should inspire you.There really is no age when you can’t start.

Tell me a little about who you are and what you do.

I’m married to my first love after meeting on a blind date on Christmas day 1965.  Rich and I are celebrating our 53rd anniversary this July 29th.  We have 2 grown daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great grands.  Rich and I  started our interior decorating business back in 1967 and in 2018 we retired and closed our retail location but kept our workroom.  Sewing was my passion and I’ve taught our grandchildren to sew and now I’m in the early stages of teaching Lia the art of sewing.  In 2018 our new business of Mama’s Minkys was born when I made a Minky blanket for Lia when she was born. My granddaughter Alexandra works on the fabric selections and website while I create the blankets, rugs, and Minky cuddlers.  Lia is our quality-control inspector of the finished product.  As for what else I do…. I love taking candid photos, flowers, nature, and of course my great-granddaughter Lia.

How long have you been blogging?

I started blogging back in 2015.  My grandson helped me build a WordPress blog on Christmas day 2014 mainly for my product  and book reviews I received.  Within a few months, I started adding categories and my blog opened into a variety of topics.  I love writing about family, life, gardening, photography, healthy living, sharing tips, recipes and my latest category is one for my 2 year old great granddaughter Lia the Baby Blogger.  Lia started “blogging” when she was 6 months old. 

How did you start? Did anyone help with the blog tech stuff?

My 27 year old grandson helped me start my WordPress free blog but when he saw how it had grown in only a few months he switched me to a self hosting WordPress site. There was no looking back, I was hooked into blogging even though writing was never something I thought about.  When I came up against a problem or road block, I would find an answer by checking Google or trial and error.  I’ve also had experienced bloggers help me out and in turn I share what I’ve learned to others.  I’ve always been one to learn by doing or from mistakes.   My motto has been “If you want to explore deeper oceans, you first have to leave sight of the shore.”

How do you create content? Tell us about ideation to publishing?

When I started my blog it was mainly for posting reviews on products I recieved.  That quickly changed and the content just seems to come through things I see or do, my photographs, gardening, cooking or topics that interest me. Many of my blogs come to life from things that happen in my family, both happy and sad, looking through photos and creating a memory, or sharing helpful tips.   My blog is humorous at times, I like to keep things lite, making my readers smile and laugh so therefore I don’t write many controversial blogs.  I also write a few poems mostly from memories and photographs.  Of course my main content lately is Lia and her Friday Story Time where she shares her baking, gardening and humorous blogs of her life.   Since this category has been added, my hope is to turn Lia’s blogs into a book and give it to her when she turns 18 years old. 

What are your top must do, for persisting at blogging?

My top goal for persisting at blogging is that I love a challenge and I plan to write a certain amount of blogs each month. I also read and share other blogs and this helps bloggers grow by exchanging links. Again my motto is perfect for being persistent and taie on a blog challenge.  This is my 5th year with the Ultimate Blog Challenge and I’ve completed every challenge since I joined in January 2016.

If you were to start now,what would you do different?

I can’t think of anything I would do differently if starting now, I started at the bottom without knowing hardly anything about blogging and learned as my blog grew.  In fact I’m still learning.  I’m 71 years old and think it’s great that I can learn and retain what I learn today.

What about SEO? How much do you focus on that?

I use lots of keywords for each blog I write.  The more keywords, the better chance of people finding your blog.  When I write a product review and add “review” or “product review” as keywords and I’ve actually received messages where companies are interested in my reviewing their products. Although SEO is great for getting your blog out to more viewers, I don’t focus on that alone.  My main focus is my readers who share my blog to their sites and when someone reads it from them, they in turn share so the cycle is non stop in sharing a blog. 

How do you drive traffic?Give us tips.

Most of my traffic is from other bloggers and from those who follow my social sites.  Sharing sites is one of the best ways to bring traffic to a site so I like to follow other bloggers and they in turn follow mine.  When posted on new social sites, the traffic just keeps coming.  Another way I drive traffic to my blog is by using my own photographs. I think it gives a more personal feeling for those reading my blog and can connect with the topic I’m writing about. I try to use an eye appealing photo as my feature photo because that’s the first thing a reader will see. If the picture is interesting more people click on the blog link. 

How did you make your blog become self sufficient?

Since I started my blog I’ve always been ready and willing to learn new things, whether it be from other bloggers or myself.  The more I learned, the more self sufficient my blog became.  I’ve been known to be frugal (or maybe cheap) so I’m always looking for ways to be self sufficient not only with my blog but with everything.   I am an Amazon and Walmart affiliate and what I earn from that pays from my domain and website.  

What would you like to tell anyone who wants to start blogging now?

If you want to start blogging, do it now, don’t wait!  It’s interesting, fun to meet other wonderful bloggers and if you start and have questions, there is always another blogger willing to help you out. 

 I love blogging, I love all my blogging friends and I’m always up for a challenge. 

3 Things I learned from Ganesha stories: Ganapati and Thankfulness:

I started reading Ganesh Chalisa since 2010. It was my mom. She gets me all these interesting tidbits of information, which make me intrigued. I also read the 108 names of Ganesha, which I  have written down at the back of my pocket Gita.

3 Things I learned from Ganesha stories

#1 I am an over-thinker in the worst ways possible. I am worried about things even before others think about doing stuff. Not good in the usual scenario, but helps me be good at what I do professionally. So I can’t complain about this skill. It’s important to use the skills we have,

#2 The best part is Lord  Ganesha, helps me focus. He takes care of all my worries.I just need to be brave, show up, and survive. Fear is paralyzing, Anxiety kills creativity. So the best thing to do would be to do what I can do and leave the rest to Ganeshji.

This God is also unique in how he looks. If there’s one thing I learned from hearing the story of his elephant head was how powerful truth is. How powerful a promise can be.

Ganeshji refused to obey his father Lord Shiva because he had promised his mom. His head got cut off because of that. Parvati devastated seeing this, told her hubby Lord Shiva to make the little boy Ganesha alive again. But they needed a living head. Guess what the helpers found? An elephant head.

But did this pose a problem?Absolutely not.The very powerful Lord Shiva fixed Ganesha with the elephant head and our dear Ganapati got a second chance.

Ganapati is easily one of the most loved Hindu God.He is smart and innovative and always remembers.

#3 How we look externally doesn’t matter.He has helped me understand. What you are inside and how you think, determine your abilities.I learned to focus on my inside and my thoughts. My Friend Ganesha helps me realize this every day.

One of my favourite books is the 4 Hour Work Week.It never happens that way but no harm in dreaming right ?

Ganapati loves hacks and smart way of doing stuff .

Once when it was to be decided who would be prayed to first, God Shiva and Goddess Parvati(parents of Lord Ganesha and his siblings)organized a contest where Kartik and Ganesha had to travel the world. The one who came back first would be declared the winner . Now Kartik had a nice quick peacock and Lord Ganesha had a small mouse.

Who would win do you think? Kartik went off with his peacock while Ganesha calmly started circling round his parents seated together. Seeing this, his parents asked him what he was doing. Ganapati replied, “since my parents are my world I am going around my world “.

His parents were tickled pink and to date, his puja happens first before any other Hindu God is worshiped. Cool God right?

If you want a hack you better start thinking like Lord Ganesha.He helps you find solution, ensure prosperity and good luck .Hope you have all the Lord Ganesha s blessings showered on you.

Ganesha was very intelligent and learned .

There’s a story about how when he was invited by Ved Vyas to write Mahabharat he gave a tricky condition. Ved Vyas was not allowed to stop speaking till the entire Mahabharat slokas were recited. Now, this would be tough, as Ved Vyas well knew. He, in turn, told Lord Ganesha, that he couldn’t write down anything without understanding the meaning. This way Ved Vyas maintained his speed of narration of the slokas while keeping his word.
