Chronic Rhinosinusitis Update by European Rhinologic Society 2022 for ENT and Head Neck surgeon was illuminating.
This is the authority and expertise I was talking about in my last post. The best thing that happened in 2022 was the revival of my Sasural (in-laws)home and garden in the village. Next, the best thing was the ability to attend classes and workshops seminars from all over the world online.
“CRS Update 2022” Webinar, was organized virtually on April 8, 2022, from 14.00h – to 16.00h European Eastern Time.

No matter what, if I was interested, I could hop on to the web platform, plug in the earphones, and listen. Some of the medical conferences also had stream later features. That was immensely helpful.Because kid’s education being home dependent on the average working motherlike me was overwhelmed. However, I did not want Corona to get the upper hand, and learning continued.
So this year, in April on Chronic Rhinosinusitis 2022 update we learned a few things.
3 Things stuck out:
- Surgery may be considered early if the ostio meatal complexes are blocked send the sinuses are filled with secretions
- Keep the patient’s position in mind when delivering intranasal steroid sprays and saline washes.
- High volume Saline wash(more than 200ml) is beneficial when done diligently post-op after proper clearance of OMC
Extra points to ponder about:
- Biologics
- Biofilms
- Role of Antibiotics
Important for doctors to keep in mind :
Topical steroid rinse may be considered in some postoperative cases
IL4, IL5, and Ig E levels are to be checked if you are planning biologics to treat type 2 Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal polyposis.
What I wish there were:
Discussion about the role of probiotics(if any) in CRS.
