New moms have it tough. They balance a lot.The demands of their own body and mind and the little one’s needs. In all the madness rarely does anyone really look at the mom.
What she needs, wants or desires is strictly on the back burner.Though we all understand exactly why all this happens, we also know how it feels to be overlooked.
So this #MondayMommy moment while celebrating motherhood, I have put together a list which is sure to make a new mom feel special.

Gifts for New ย Mommyย
A great mattress.
This one sounds weird. But hear me out.I had read that a backache during after pregnancy, needs a lot of preventive care. The problem is so bad that spondylosis or spondylitis is the final result.I am big on preventive healthcare. Before I became pregnant I got this ย Kurl-on New Ortho 5-inch King Size Coir Mattress (78x72x5)
orthopedic grade mattress for our bedroom. The comfort and support of lying on the mattress is amazing. It’s ย a very firm mattress which provides support along the entire length of your spine and lets the back muscles relax as you rest. Give this gift to a new mom and help her sleep well. She will bless you forever.
A body and foot massage pillow. Yes, new moms must have it.Body spa and ย Pedicure becomes a thing of the past and no one to help with the aching feet.Best idea is to get one of these. Dr Physio Shiatsu Deep Kneading Massage Pillow with Heat / Massage, Relax, Sooth and Relieve Neck, Shoulder Back Full Body Massager - Swiss Relaxation therapy
Amazon.in Gift Card - In a White Box Rs.1000ย
Gift cards make perfect gifts for the homebound mommy.Really I missed the shopping so much, I window shopped online. Then amazon started showing me all that I had put in the basket with amazing price drops.
Babysitting credits
My best times as a mommy are sometimes when others babysit and I can have a relaxing day.Just in charge of feeding and cuddling.Happened a few times, thanks to my sis and mom.But believe me, every hour you babysit the new mom will bless you.Offer ย it on special occasions and you will be a family favorite,
Stretch marks cream. Those marks we wear with pride. But they can itch and look bad when you finally get back in shape for a bikini.Okay long journey, but a woman’s got to dream right?Mederma Skin Care ย ย has helped me in this. One thing to note, I used it after about 3 weeks when my skin wound had healed (I had a C-section).Definitely use within 6 months as otherwise, it fails to work as well as it should.
Feeding the baby while traveling or visiting a relative or a friend becomes a problem.Breastfeeding is beautiful and natural.but I really donโt like doing it in front of people. That stress alone made me not travel. The solution was I got this amazing stylish nursing scarf /poncho which is fuss free and gives you the privacy you need.
The nursing travel pillow.Yes, you need this one too, favourite to prevent the aching arms and shoulders.A comfortable mommy is a happy mommy.
Rocking chair
Get a sturdy wooden one with padded arms, seat .backrestseat.My hubby bought this for me and it was ready for rocking mommy and baby to sleep.Cozy and perfect.Trust me this gift will a favorite with the new mom.
The Kindle e-reader
I really wish I had this on my wishlist then. But I did the job with my trusted Samsung tablet. Kindle should have even more ย fanfare and all new moms who love to read, need this. It’s mind-blowingly great.
Review coming up soon. The Kindle is light_weight and the reading experience made me happy.Adult coloring book or this journal by Matrika. It calms the mind and you can also jot down your favorite mommy moments.
ย
List of trained nannies in your city. This one is very important.Working mom or SAHM, with relatives or without, you need some help during those first few months. As your body heals mommy needs rest.Read the tips below carefully. They sound basic , Donotbut many people make the mistake of ignoring them to repent later!
5 tips to take care of, before you get a nannyย
- Check the Voter card, keep a photocopy with her signature.Get a police verification done.
- Fix the rate and her duties.Do not agree to pay as you go.This will cause you undue irritation and headache.
- Insist on replacement with the agency on her day offs. One of the benefits of an agency.
- Never leave the baby with nanny alone.Don’t let her go out with the baby alone.Always have family or friend supervise.
- If baby feed needs to be prepared, let her do so only after observing her level of hygiene, hand-washing habits over a few weeks .Also check her ability to follow instructions.
Use the mommy intuition.Believe it or not, we all know whether people are good, Grey or evil.Just open up your inner senses, third eye whatever and checkout the feeling you get when she enters a room.Your baby is precious and the care needs to be safe.
Overall an extra pair of hands will be very useful, wish !But shouldn’t cause an extra headache.Maybe you can gift her your old nanny!

I could have used good babysitters (my nearby relative wasn’t that eager to sit) but one thing you will really appreciate is a good rocking chair. Never did get one for my one and only child, and it would have been put to good use at 4am.

Totally on board with the good mattress idea! (Though it’s not within my budget right now!) I’ve gifted some Kindles to new mamas and they seemed to love it!

I really wish someone had bought me the kindle! On the other hand I don’t mind breastfeeding in public so I didn’t need the cover. The rocking chair is also a must have!

I have to admit being a Mother myself I always think of other mums. My a new baby born into the family recently and I treated the mum as I feel they need it!
Mayuri Nidigallu says
Such a unique and practical list, Amrita. The mention of a Mattress and Rocking Chair is so sensible. I always feel that if one can’t think of anything it is better to give cash, so that the new mom could buy what she needs.
