I started writing in 2014, but it was only in 2020 during the lockdown of pandemic that I started writing stories. I have always been a big fan of mysteries, so that was the genre I wanted to write about.
But my mysteries needed to be free of gore, with a feel-good end to them. That’s when I realized my writing was more like a cozy mystery series than a thriller. Is that a good thing or bad? I have no idea, but it’s what I end up writing. At least now.
It gets difficult to judge your own writing and categories are a big thing when it’s time to list on Amazon right?
I was still not sure about the exact categories. But after 3 books in the series,I am sure it’s somewhere between cozy mystery and treasure hunting. A murder may or may not happen but I absolutely love finding treasures at the end of my stories.
While writing nonfiction gives me a feeling of satisfaction(of doing my best to help someone), fiction is different. It’s a chance to make someone relaxed, and entertained, forget the drama in their life and get set, solving crimes in fiction, even if we can’t solve all the real-world problems.
In my Krishna Mishra series, Krishna and his wife Ria travel a lot. They like traveling to places close to nature. They also love good food and spending time with each other, friends, and family. Krishna loves gardening and reading. He is an ex-army doctor and now works as a private investigator and moonlight as a treasure hunter. Ria his wife is a blogger, vlogger, podcaster, and more his muse than a sidekick.
Together they are unraveling an ancient map that they discovered while solving the first mystery in the series.Krishna Mishra and the Mysterious Movie Star.
More about the behind-the-scenes tomorrow. Get the Darjeeling Diamonds and let me know if you like it.

Mystery Thrillers are my personal favorites because what I feel it activates my brain to think about the suspect in the story well in advance. I appreciate authors who write Mystery Thrillers as I find they actually make us the readers think. Congratulations for your book

I have always loved reading fiction and mystery stories and novels. I think it started when I was very young. As I grew older, I developed a love for writing as well.

Amrita, what fun! Just the title, “Darjeeling Diamonds”, made me want to read it! I will find a copy! Please feel free to write your books as cozies, rather than thrillers. Cozies are more relaxing, but just as engaging. I started reading mysteries to bond with my mother, who read them like some people eat candy. Now I can’t stop. Thanks for letting us know about your latest!

I remember reading the Hardy Boys series as well as another series of books, Encyclopedia Brown, when I was young. Of course, there was no gore or violence with these, and they always resolved in such a way where the ending was happy!
Thanks for sharing
Dr.Amrita Basu(MBBS,MS) says
Yes I like happy endings too๐ Paul. Thank you
