Lesson 2: Creating a Child-Friendly Garden
A child does not need a large garden to start growing plants.
A balcony, windowsill, or small courtyard is enough.
Children learn best when the space is designed for them.
Principles of a Child Garden
- Accessibility
Children should easily reach plants.
Use:
- small pots
- raised containers
- recycled buckets
- Safety
Avoid:
- sharp tools
- chemical fertilizers
- toxic plants
- Ownership
Give children their own plant pots.
Let them decorate the containers.
- Observation
Place the garden where children see it every day.
Daily observation teaches biological cycles.
