Patience
Strange thing this motherhood thing Ask anyone whether I am a patient soul ?
You will get a loud No. I was very impatient before I was a mommy. I am still impatient with all things non-mommy ,but daughter brings out my most patient self.We have spent hours together drawing and coloring.
With her I rediscovered my joy with all things creative.
Childhood second time around is even more fun.
Not raising my voice
I was a screamer .Okay I still can be very high pitched(read screamer) and exasperating when angry .But this route cuts no cake with my daughter. She insists I smile at her while I scold her.Trying doing that .It comes out as a grimace .But my daughter doesn’t rest till I give a proper smile.In the meantime I forget what I was angry about. I think the little one follows a set plan.
It’s tiring but you will discover your secret super powers .When you are under a microscope darling,better be at your best.I blog, cook, run, read ,writeand I am a doctor-teacher in a medical college .See that sounds crazy.But it’s because my daughter helps me with this .We have study time together .Problem is me being on the laptop is work .Her on the laptop is fun.So we have tug of war about who is working and who is not .Net result I read a lot of books when she is writing,doing math .
I realized if I want her to have good habits,better work on myself Being an example works better than telling !I as a child insisted on examples and proof.
Empathy for all moms everywhere
SAHM,WAHM,working moms,single moms,moms everywhere we all do our best.But its always difficult.Wherever you are ,if you are a mommy ,know this.We are there with you.Together we will do it.We do our best with what we have .
Sorry mommy for being difficult.It would be impossible to be my own mom.I have a never ending list of Why’s .Plus I need proof .Get the drift.My poor mommy had a struggle because I really didn’t get “because mommy says so”.
So raising kind ,nice, fun ,creative and obedient children is definitely more difficult than rocket science .
I am concentrating on giving her life skills. I do wipe her tears when she gets hurt .But I also teach her to wipe her own tears and be strong.If her friend doesn’t play with her ,I remind her she has 15 other friends .Life skills it’s only us.
It’s a no holds barred ,roller coaster ride
Motherhood is fun .You are a Disney Princess, when you make a pigtail before going to bed.You are more beautiful than anyone else in the world.You will be her bestie. Plus you get to cuddle and smell the baby smell all the time.What’s not to like right ?Its fun ,its the best feeling in the world to be a mom.
My angel is going to be 5 on 23rd of February. 5 years flew by and we now dance ,sing,draw, tickle daddy and online window shopping together.
My lessons of motherhood continue with every passing day.Its a little different everyday.Its a life long degree at the University of life.

If it wasn’t for Shalini I would have totally forgotten writing about this book.
The book Go Giver is an amazing little book.Its true that good things come in small packages.I have written about the book many times.
Every time I get flustered or doubt my course ,I have a quick re-reading of this book.
Love the Home you have helped me at a time I was having a want to put down roots but there absolutely no way so I am sad syndrome.This book let me find happiness in a rented home too .My landlord is a gem.He never once complained about the balcony jungle that I have grown in my home.
Life is made up of every moment .Waiting for one day to shift to your dream house, may rob you of making a home with your loved ones.
Home is truly where the heart is.
The third book is on Writing Well by William Zinsser, is a treasure.It was recommended by Stephen King himself in his book On Writing.
Until we read people who write well , you never learn the craft.Its for that very reason I picked up this book .Stephen King had said if you don’t read other books,don’t expect people to read yours.
I am halfway through this book.One interesting thing the author said that stuck with me ,it’s difficult to write in first person .But we really need to practice that .Maybe not for all niche.But definitely try it out.It increases confidence in your own voice as the author.
Another snippet was about nonfiction writing,William , gives us snippets of random well written nonfiction even scientific stuff.He tells you to make it fun .Just because it’s a serious topic it need not be boring.I write a lot on health and disease The author advices not to make the mistake of taking things too seriously.If people get interested in what you write, a lot of faults get overlooked.But if it’s boring even if its well written,Its still boring

I once read in a book ,
I you have to choose between wealth and wisdom .Always choose wisdom.You can make and keep wealth when you are wise.But a fool and his gold is soon parted.
I am human right?Must be having some vices.I asked my hubby to mention 5 vices I had.
The man answered ,
all is great ,you don’t have vices!
This can only come with great foresight.Imagine what would happen,if he actually gave me a list.That’s something even I don’t believe.So I go searching in the depths of my soul, to find those vices which are disguised as virtues.

I have a very low boredom threshold.I can go to any extreme to avoid boring conversation and boring people.As a teenager I aced my class tests(not bragging) by pretending to study so much ,that I actually ended up studying.All because I wanted to avoid visiting places and people who irritated me or bored me. I was that bad!I also pretended to be helpful and suggested taking my little sister along.Things came to such a pass ,my sister when she was 13 declared I had no right to volunteer her ,when I was sneaking away!
Sisters!They know how to put you right 🙂
That’s why I always challenge myself to learn new things ,to stop this vice creeping up.
Reading too much
I read anywhere ,everywhere all the time.Everything I am doing ,will do,have done is because I adore words,I was born on a Saraswati Puja day and I believe the Goddess, loves me more because of this.There have been times I have burned rice (in a microwave),charred the boiling milk,left the eggs cooking too long,all because I have read with too much attention.This one is a problem,but one I cant imagine not doing.Its like asking me to stop being me!
Believing in good energy and bad
This may ,make me sound a little off but I am really a believer in the energy emitted by people.If I don’t like the vibes I get from you,then we will not really be growing close.Optimism,sincerity,thankfulness,faith and love are qualities I believe in.Probably that’s why ‘the people who are in my life have those same qualities.My friends from medical college , are still a phone call away.We haven’t met physically in 5 years ,but our minds travel through space and time .Yes I need a checkup.Its a serious vice!
Red lipstick to change lives
Red is the color of love.Its the color of your blood and a passion .Its a bold color which says “look at me”.If I ever feel sad and lonely ,I just put on red lipstick,even at home while cooking lunch. That’s one way of battling the blues.Just put on the RED!That’s why I end up buying red lipstick all the time.
This is impossible to explain.But the only way to get magic and love in your life is to believe in it.I read Mills and Boon as sincerely as I did my school books .Believing one day someone will make everything better.Love is magical .Its Gods way of telling us we are not alone.Two people,however different can feel each others sorrows and joys as deeply as their own.I am a shameless romantic .But the best things in my life has come from believing.If believing in magic is a vice ,its one of my favourite ! That’s when you need to take charge of your mind.
The main problem is, most people don’t want to take responsibility for their actions .
They want someone to solve their problems.Someone to give them medicines or wave a magic wand .
I sometimes wonder why people don’t study?
Even if I do get, that children should enjoy their childhood ,I don’t understand not letting them get prepared.It’s about teaching them to study a little every day ,so that you don’t stress during exams.
Life unfortunately is not a bed of roses.Neither is it fair .
The only way to get what you want out of life is to be armed to a T.
Learning life skills is part of that very important dressing up .
If you want to be healthy ,eat healthy, exercise ,sleep.
If you want to earn well .Study hard .You never know which skills you may need.
Who knew my creative writing skills from school would come handy ?

Also those Moral science classes,which were all about play acting and life’s lessons.
Education never goes to waste ,until you waste it.
Just because you are good at something and love something, doesn’t mean you can’t be awesome at something else too!
That’s why you need to be well equipped to choose.
If you want to live well ,choose your partner wisely.
Is there any other way to this ?
I don’t know.
I really don’t.
Of all the people I see struggling ,I find one very important common link.They don’t take responsibility.
Most things in life is the result of a choice you have made at some point in your life
When I get stressed I do 5 things to snap me out of it :
1)Jump on the treadmill for a quick run.It helps a lot .The single best thing to try.
2)I prune my plants and give my balcony garden a lot of TLC.
3)Drink a lot of water .
4)Read a mystery novel, often in Bengali my mother tongue.
5)Cuddle Rai and tickle her .
