Josh Groban’s song is iconic.
“You Raise Me up so I can stand on mountains
You Raise Me up to walk on stormy seas
I am stronger when I am on your shoulders.
You Raise me up to more than I can be .”
Songs with words like these make you remember the higher power who has brought me along in this journey. It’s also a time to remember, all those who raised me up .Josh Groban’s voice and the way he says these words touched a chord in my heart and that’s why this post is a thank you post.
Saying thank you to all those who raised me up.
My Bhagoban
My mother
My maternal grandmother though briefly
My sister(in a strange way trying to be a good sister and setting an example helped me make better choices ).Plus she inspired me to be a better cook and calmer person.
My aunts and uncles who helped me become a doctor by supporting my higher education.
My childhood friends
My best girl friend from college
My husband
My daughter
My books,

To the unknown muse who helps me fight imposter syndrome everyday.
In all places separated by time and geography women who have done their bit to make this world a better place for women. My paternal grandmother was working in an office during the sixties .She was a graduate woman and definitely an inspirational figure through family stories. She died before I was born and my mother always reminded us we had this vision to remember. My Maa and all my maternal aunts all worked in reputed Government offices and their struggle helped me realize why women need women to lift them up.

I liked the name of the book and I bought it.But before that I had signed up for a Domestika course by the same author and liked her style.Welcome to my book review Painting Calm by Inga Buividavice-Connect to Nature through the art of Watercolour!
I quickly read through the whole book because it’s an easy read. Its also great for beginners. It teaches you steps and drawing leaves in wreaths or mandala pattern. That keeps me happy .
Pros of the book
Easy to read
Step by step
Calm illustrations which don’t overwhelm
Helpful tips
Soothing color palate
Anyone can get started with these instructions.
Biggest takeaway:Let nature be your inspiration and stop trying to make it an exact biological illustration if you really want to start enjoying the watercolour process.
I like painting leaves and flowers. That’s a thing with me.I can’t stop painting leaves and flowers, doodling them and planting trees .When I have a lot of money I plan to buy as much land I can and plant and plant and plant.I want to leave a greener world for my child and my painting is a way of manifesting all the green in my life .It started in 2014 but escalated to a dream I am living 2020 onwards .The pandemic did teach me a very important lesson. That of nature being crucial for all kinds of health. You cannot be truly healthy without a dose of nature everyday.
So when I picked up this book I wanted a closer look at the leaves ,wreaths and composition the artist was painting. They looked simple but magical at the same time.
It’s really difficult to paint in the minimalist style which is also soothing. That I think is the artists Inga Buividavice’s book’s usp.You will truly connect to nature in more ways than one.
A must buy book if you want a non stressful way of starting painting from nature and start painting calm.

If you don’t know this is about Osama’s Letter to America with a clear reason for 9/11 .Cut short he is killing nonbelievers as he believes that’s what he is destined to.
That is not unbelievable what’s horrific is American youngsters are feeling “existential crisis” because of that !The education system and parents both need to look inside because it’s never easy accepting that behavior .
But starting with a prayer.Thank God Tik tok and tiktoking is not legal in India .Because spreading disinformation, misinformation seems dangerously easy with little scope of culpability.
Since the content is misinformation I didn’t share the videos reading the letter. But sharing this to let you know that some people like chaos and they make money when ordinary citizens fall victim to terror and chaos.Don’t believe videos on social media, whatsapp about any even unless you can verify the source personally. Also don’t forward anything in Whatsapp groups which are legally, medically and financially problematic if classified as misinformation or disinformation.

Will I Ever Be Good Enough?: Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers by Karyl McBride is another book I read in January.
Book BlurbWill I Ever be Good Enough?Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers
From experienced family therapist Dr. Karyl McBride, Will I Ever Be Good Enough? is an essential guide to recovery for women with selfish, emotionally abusive, and toxic mothersโdesigned to help daughters reclaim their lives. The first book for daughters who have suffered the abuse of narcissistic, self-involved mothers, Will I Ever Be Good Enough? provides the expert assistance you need in order to overcome this debilitating history and reclaim your life. Drawing on more than two decades of experience as a therapist specializing in womenโs health and hundreds of interviews with suffering daughters, Dr. Karyl McBride helps you recognize the widespread effects of this emotional abuse and create an individualized program for self-protection, resolution, and complete recovery. Narcissistic mothers teach their daughters that love is not unconditional, that it is given only when they behave in accordance with maternal expectations and whims. As adults, these daughters have difficulty overcoming feelings of inadequacy, disappointment, emotional emptiness, and sadness. They may also have a fear of abandonment that leads them to form unhealthy romantic relationships, as well as a tendency to perfectionism and unrelenting self-criticism or to self-sabotage and frustration. Dr. McBrideโs step-by-step program will enable you to: (1) Recognize your own experience with maternal narcissism and its effects on all aspects of your life (2) Discover how you have internalized verbal and nonverbal messages from your mother and how these have translated into overachievement or self-sabotage (3) Construct a personalized program to take control of your life and enhance your sense of self, establishing healthy boundaries with your mother and breaking the legacy of abuse Warm and sympathetic, Dr. McBride brings a profound level of authority to Will I Ever Be Good Enough? that encourages and inspires you as it aids your recovery.
My Book Review of Will I Ever be Good Enough?Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers
I usually don’t read books with turmoil. But this was for a good cause and I couldn’t say no.
The book speaks from the author’s heart. She is a professional but hers is also a lived experience. The proverbial scientist experimenting with self diagnosis and self healing. We all do it to some extent and a lot of problem can be helped with a good dose of introspection.
But remember many health problems especially mental health problems need a professional evaluation and not a search engine .
Disclaimer this is not a medical advice and always consult your doctor for professional personalized care.
Narcissism is difficult to identify. The narcissistic personality spectrum can range from a few traits to a full blown narcissistic personality.
The children of narcissistic parents suffer and carry the legacy of not being good enough for a lifetime.
Therapy ,a loving partner and God’s help is all needed for arriving on the other side.If the chain is not broken the circle of narcissism spills over to the next generation genetically (which we can’t really control) and environmentally (which we can control).
Healthy self love and self image is crucial for survival.Lack of self confidence can be crippling.
The author delves deep into the issues of why this trait in a parent can be harmful. How you can identify it.What to do and steps to protect your soul from. The overachiever and the self sabotager we all have both versions inside us.What will you let rise?
There’s only one answer. To truly rise above a narcissistic legacy becoming successful, creating distance and making peace(with help/therapy) is a journey through life. The narcissistic parent may never accept medical help or even agree she has a problem.Insight may be lacking and there in lies your power to change the legacy .If you think you need help ,get help.
Great book a must read for those who struggle with a loved one /parent being narcissistic.
Spending time alone helps focus on ownself and self heal

Who wants to know more about narcissistic personality spectrum and how it can affect relationships.
If you have trouble with a close relationships whom you suspect is a closet narcissist and you want to work at the relationship and also help yourself heal.
You suspect your own narcissistic trait is spilling over into your parenting or other relations( you will be a rare person).
You want it to gift it to someone whom you think is stuck in a loop with a narcissistic person.
For helping in possible self-healing PTSD in adults who had a narcissistic parent.

I was hearing about the Blue zones everywhere. But I had no intention of watching the documentary,I wanted the source. That’s why I decided to read the book. The Blue Zones 9 Lessons for living Longer by Dan Buettner. The best part about the book is, it focuses on food habits and longevity secrets from both the East and the West. Boiled down, its about eating healthy, and less meat seems to be a big takeaway.
Estimated reading time: 3 minutes
When do you get up? When the sun rises.
When do you sleep? When the sun sets
Work for health or wealth. The secrets of timeless congeniality and socializationWhat grows in Nicoyan garden?Corn, beans, papaya orange.
Okinawa has ikigai .Costa Rican talk about and plan di vida-strong sense of purpose.
The book is written a very lucid language and takes us on a journey with the author as he delves into the lives of the centenarians in different countries. The language and culture barriers make things slow but our author is determined. He visits Okinawa, the Greek blue zone, American blue zone, and a few others while sharing tips on how to create your blue zone.
Charlie Munger was 99 when he died.I want to know what he ate and what he did daily too. He was a billionaire who managed one of the world’s biggest investment companies and lived an active life making money. None of the people our author interviewed had a modern-day life story like him.It was mostly in out-of-the-way places, people who didn’t have the trappings of modern life or a career as such. For most people, the connection to the people interviewed will be lacking, even though their simple eating and simple living will resonate. Few of us can manage to live in a mountain village rearing goats and eating the same food every day even with the best company. So there’s a need for examples from the world as we know it too.
In the blue zones, many seemed to hear and see less as they grow older and those functions are crucial for good quality of life and fighting dementia. I found no mention of the use of aids for seeing better or hearing aids to help those who didn’t hear so well. Both of which improve quality of life, overall functionality and brain functions.
The data presented is mostly hearsay and even the bibliography lacks hard data. That saying it’s interesting that the author received a budget for traveling and doing the work he did. Goes to show that longevity research has a lot of interest and everyone wants an option to do it right where they are.
Living longer and better is a wonderful goal to have.
Give this book a reading when you can do so with an open mind, otherwise, you might fall victim to a different sort of bias. A flag bearer of time-proven common sense advice that would benefit everyone when backed by more scientific data.
