12 Familiar things I love

12 Familiar things I love

Why do I like re-reading old favorites?

Why do I keep on visiting Himachal Pradesh and Darjeeling?

Why do the Mandarmoni sea beaches call me?

It’s because there’s a lot of comfort in the familiar. I am a creature of habits. But I also like beta testing all sorts of stuff. It almost balanced my other hobbies. Today’s topic is about content that feels familiar.

Every time I see a patient I feel that familiar feeling of solving a mystery. Only the disease or the problem is the thing to be solved and I am the Detective.

Does it now make some sort of  sense that I have started writing a  mystery series?

I am also thinking of writing a medical mystery series. It’s more like a strange rumbling in my mind. But I also have some more things going on which is making me do busy work.

After a long time I stopped thinking about all that was pending and started doing things one at a time.

It’s always good when the familiar syncing of the inner and outer world happens.Thats why while writing today ,I rummaged into brain for all things familiar and guess what I found?

12 Familiar things I love

  • The sound of my daughter calling me maa
  • The raindrops falling against the window when it rains
  • The sparrows chirping on my balcony where they come to rest every evening.
  • My Enid Blyton storybooks.
  • My air fryer
  • Shopping before Durga pujo.
  • Waiting for the special pujo bhog every day during the special days.
  • Catching the train to our Kolkata home(that’s going to be a miss this year )
  • The smell of freshly baked bread.
  • The bite into my favorite chocolate.
  • A walk along the Southern Avenue lake.
  • Doodling with my daughter. ????
The Doodle stories
Strong women quote

I love brainstorming plot outlines with my hubby and daughter. If they enjoy it that’s great but most often we end up giggling with helpless laughter when I switch them up to make a neat package. My daughter enjoys my storytelling however improbable it may be abd my husband looks quizzical when I send my Krishna Mishra down rabbit holes. The end results are family times and laughter. Planning picnic menus with family when we end up packing more food than we could eat and still eat it.Taking pictures with the Instax instant camera and rushing to take it out in the dark.

Regular camera digital camera, phone camera now instant camera with sepia toned instant pictures.Life is indeed a circle.

All these are waiting for me on the other side of the Corona wall. I have heard that luck blessed the patient. Being alive and healthy is a blessing indeed.

What are the familiar things you love?

  1. I can easily add almost all of these things to my list (substituting Durgo pujo for the Navaratri Golu, which is basically the same anyways; plane to Bangalore instead of train to Kolkota; a walk on our favorite hiking path here instead of the lake you mention)… 🙂 love this list..
