 5 Secrets you must know dear daughter was written some time back. But today is #NationalGirlchildDay .I asked my daughter to read this post. She is six and she smiled at me reading the second and third para. Then she got distracted.

Next year I will try again. But till then dear reader, this is for you.

Darling daughter, I hope one day you will read this. One day you will know how you changed my life. One day you will know all your mom’s secrets. But today I will share my 5 secrets which helped me become who I am today.

I was a dreamer. A daydreamer, night dreamer, train and bus dreamer. I could dream anywhere. I also loved planning my dreams. That was much before I knew that planned dreaming is like action blueprints, with many fancy names. I read in a Russian fairy tale book(in Bengali).

Roughly translated it means:

Your brain will work better once the night is over!

I always thought it had something to do with dreams. Everything seems better after a good night’s rest.

Secret 1: Keep dreaming.But not in the classroom

I was an average student till I was in class seven . I did well in some and okay in others. But something changed after that. Without boring you with the details I will say this. I realized life getting better or not, depended a lot on my own choices. Once I stopped thinking I was the victim of circumstances I had control. Control over how much I studied, how I studied, why I studied. This was life-changing. After this, there was no looking back. I don’t remember my mother ever nagged me to study. I don’t want to either. So please study darling

Secret 2: Study hard and read a lot

 

 

I had no plans of getting married until it was a romantic and kind prince, who could be braver than me, smarter than me(just a tiny bit). He also had to love books, plants, babies, traveling. He had to be self-made(earn loads of money). be good in studies too. If he got along with people, then that would be perfect.

Now I must be honest. When I married your father he was still studying, though he was a doctor(just like me) and we both earned a stipend.Not much though.Not yet self or otherwise made (in fact he had study loans)!

He loved books(but only textbooks). Shocking really! But loved all the rest. What clinched the deal? Oh yes, darling. Don’t be shocked, marriage is romantic but a deal between souls. He was kind.Very.That’s an underrated quality, but very important to look for in your partner. He was also nice. Even when we fought! He was also romantic.

God insisted we get married.M y soul insisted it was the real thing. We got married.T hat’s one of the biggest reasons I am able to do it all darling. Because your father helps me with everything. We don’t have gender-differentiated roles at home. You will know what I am talking about when you grow a little older.

Secret 3: Marry with care. Choose your spouse well. You spend more than half your life with him so he needs to be a friend.

Take care of your spirit. Never think you are a victim of circumstances.P ray, keep a habit of writing thank you note. It will help. Saying thank you and being grateful, helps you attract all the goodness of the universe toward you. How wonderful is that?

Secret 4: Practice thankfulness and Pray always. Faith is the biggest source of happiness.

Persist. Always. If there is one quality I want you to practice is persistence and perseverance.

You have to persist and do what you have to do, what you have to. What happens is destiny!

Secret 5 Persist and persevere.

I have a Bonus secret 6 for you! Have grace. Even if things don’t go according to your wish. Maybe the wish was not for your best.B both failure and success must be gratefully accepted. Because both teach us.

Do remember I always will love you. Wherever I am, I will be watching, listening and feeling all your emotions. Be a brave girl. Grow strong with each tear you shed and every smile you share.

You are my happiness and light and you came to this world because your parents loved you dearly, even before you were born.
