REVV APP SELF DRIVE CAR: Android app review

Revv app self-drive car is also available in Kolkata. That’s the reason I wanted to try this app.

Self-drive car rentals are great when you go on road trips and want to plan your trip according to your own wish. Stop anywhere on your way and enjoy it. The problem is driving your own car across India, can be a problem. That’s where the Revv app is such a boon.

What does Revv do?

It’s a self-drive car service. You can have the car sent to your preferred location and picked up at your convenience. The service for both is available at select cities. They have a roadside assistance service, for taking care, in case of car breaks down or runs into any problem. Now about the App.

5  Things I liked about the Revv android App

You get money back if you use Amazon pay to pay for your car.

Kolkata is on the list and so are a number of top cities I visit.

It’s an easy app to navigate.

The rates are not over the top and look reasonable.

A good selection of cars is on offer.

How to use the Revv App

Upper left-hand side the three dash or sandwich sign open ups the menu

On clicking the select city, you get a list of places where Revv is available.

Going back to the dashboard you can select the start date, and end date for journey and car pick up.

You can choose the vehicle with or without fuel. If you decide on fuel, you refuel as and when you want. If you use the, fuel option, they give back the money needed for fuel, after you submit a refill bill. Remember the bill for fuel should be in the period during which you book.

After you enter the city of starting and times, click the search button, and you get a list of vehicles available. At the bottom of the screen, there are two options, sort, and filter.

On pressing the sort button, you will be asked to sort by Low to high or high to low price range and also extra km charges.

The Filter button helps you with the segment(Hatchback, SUV, MUV, Sedan) brand(Maruti Hyundai, Mahindra, Toyota, Ford), fuel type(petrol/diesel), transmission, and seating capacity (5/7).

After setting filter parameters, you can click apply and choose from the options.

After that, you will be asked to select a delivery location address and pick up. Pick up from different cities or the same city same location or different locations, are all available. But you will need to confirm this during the booking.

Promo codes can be applied if you have any. The plan details like km limit extra km charges, fuel charges if applicable, and other information is generated.

The terms and condition button explains about the particulars of that plan you choose.

Once you click Proceed, you will be asked to log in, create an account using Gmail, Facebook or email and password.

To book, you will need to be eligible to drive. You need to be at least 21 years old and have a valid driving license for light motor vehicles and at least a one-year-old license.

ID proof like PAN, Aadhar, etc. will be needed, and you will also need to provide driving license details.

Things to remember while using the App

Remember, if someone other than the person whose license is used to book the car drives the car, that’s not allowed according to their terms and conditions.

Read the terms and conditions carefully

The website gives some other valid points about liabilities and what to do in case of any problem with the car including roadside assistance.

I faced no glitch while using the app and plan to use it for my next all-day city tour.

Hyundai Car subscription offer

Revv also has a car subscription offer, which covers even new cars. If you plan to use a vehicle for a long duration, that may be a better option for you. They include maintenance and insurance, and you can cancel anytime. The cars are by Hyundai. You can choose every day or weekdays. If you like self-driving and you change cities frequently, this could be a good option. The links to the car subscription offer come as an ad at the bottom of the app home page.

Cons:

I visited their website and realized the liability issues. The company policy about the person whose driving license is used to book, needing to drive the car was something I didn’t find on the app. If it’s there, it’s not clearly visible and if not they need to put it in a place where people will find it quickly.

The app missed having any customer reviews and feedback, and that’s a problem always for apps like these.

This is an app review, and the service will be reviewed once I have an opportunity to use it fully.
