One good thing about the COVID19 pandemic was the reduced pollution rates and the Ozone layer healing itself.

With an all-time low air traffic mountain ranges being seen from cities were trending on twitter streams. But breathing in clean air indoors is what we did under lockdown. Once the lockdown is lifted, humans continue to pollute. But why is it so difficult for each of us to focus on doing our bit for Mother Nature.

You and I are both a part of nature. Its but natural that when you go for a nature walk, you feel good. But why then do you not do your part to raise your voice for nature?

An elephant was killed in Kerala. She was pregnant and ate a pineapple filled with firecrackers. That’s the work of a psychopath, and strict legal action is needed.

When we cut down one tree, kill birds, and pollute the rivers and oceans, we are writing our own death warrant.

When I started gardening six years back, I did so suddenly. Now my little balcony garden helped me keep sane every day during the 80 plus days of lockdown. Looking at the green plants, feeling the leaves dance, and seeing the flowers bloom was the most calming experience ever.

When we don’t remember that we are Mother Nature’s children and all animals and plants are our brothers and sisters, we risk destroying ourselves. But will humans learn? That is the million-dollar question.

#3 Buy local and avoid eCommerce sites who bubble wrap their products in yards of plastic. Hemp, straw, and jute are many options that could help cut down on plastic use and support local industries.

#4 Buy local fruits and vegetables. They are fresher and more nutritious closer they are to their harvest date.

#5 Slow fashion, recycle, reuse, and upcycle clothes.

#6 Buy what you need, not to hoard.

#7 Be responsible for garbage disposal.

#8 When you travel, be a responsible tourist, and avoid littering.

#9 Say no to plastic straws.

#10 Eat fresh, food not processed if you don’t want to pollute your own body! You deserve as much care from pollution as everything else in nature.

When I asked the same question on Instagram, this is what Instagrammers said.

All schools should have mandatory home gardening and training for growing food. Using technology, vertical gardening, aquaponics, hydroponics will help. Schools, colleges, universities should invest in rooftop gardening and use the food produced for children’s meals. Government initiative and parent groups can both help.
