My Baby is my world but here’s what I’m doing for myself

Motherhood is beautiful. But you need to recharge your batteries on a daily basis.

For that, you need to remember that there’s no one except you, who can do that for you.

I have a few things in my morning ritual, daily, and to-do list which helps.

I have realized life is not a sprint. It’s a marathon. The only one with grit, determination, and passion can win.

So here are my to-do lists which help me keep sane

Morning ritual:

Wake up with a smile and kiss both my baby and hubby.

Five minutes cuddling  Rai.

The perfect cup of green tea and breakfast, before we go for school drop.

Come back, make the bed, water the plants, while coffee is brewing(yes I need my morning cup of coffee too).

Start writing my morning pages by longhand, while drinking coffee. Do the last edits and publish my blog post for the day.

Off to the hospital for my professional duties.

My daily to-do list

Which has 3 Things I must do on my blog

  • Write
  • Create
  • Cleanup

3 Other Things

  • Cook
  • Clean and organize one spot
  • Exercise

My Weekly to do list

  • Write at least 5 posts. Blog, guest posts.
  • Brainstorm e-book topics.
  • Learn one new skill.
  • Organize one drawer.
  • Walk at least 40km over the week.
  • Write down my weekly meal plan.
  • Tabulate expenses.

The 10 things I do  daily to keep me happy and energetic

Read a book.Books are my favorite way to relax and unwind. I love reading.

Mysteries, courtroom dramas, and detective stories are my comfort reads.Reading a Bengali murder mystery, curled up in the rocking chair with a cup of iced tea makes me very happy.

Mommy Hacks

Read at least 3 blogs.

Reading other blogs helps me learn new things. What people are exploring, their experiences and challenges, all are learning grounds for a new blogger like me.

Write at least 1000 words. This maybe one post or  2.Writing muscle too needs to be exercised for it to work well. That’s why I always write daily.

Exercise. This is the single most important thing I must do daily to keep everything running. When I exercise I feel good about taking care of my body. My mind is happy as it’s full of endorphins. I feel fitter and more energetic. It’s great for my self-esteem as I stick to my goals.

Drink water. At least 4 litres per day. Keeps my skin clear and hydrated and makes my bathroom habits great.

Potter about in my balcony garden. The best way to and up my creative juices is to talk to my plants. I started writing and gardening at about the same time.

Talk to my mom. Moms know best about everything. So sharing my worries and plans with my mom always helps.

Get in touch with a friend. Friends are our true treasures. That’s why I always take care to cherish those who are great friends.

Cook something healthy. Very important.Even in the busiest days, I try to cook something healthy.

Say I love you to those who need to hear. Self-love and self-care are most important. Until we make it a point to make this a priority it’s not going to happen.I have realized I am not doing my best in anything until I do my best for myself.

What are your ways to show self-love?

  1. Hi Amrita,
I liked your spirit of starting your day with such a positive note. You are a bundle of energy. I wish I could be so organized like you!
    Have a great weekend!

  2. You definitely do a lot if things daily and have a lot of energy. For me it all depends upon priorities and instead of being a superwoman ..I make sure to do things which are important that particular day. Good to know about your schedule. All the best.

  3. I’m not a mama, but in many ways my blog is my baby. I spend almost every day taking care of it and totally forgetting about myself. Thanks for the reminder!

  4. I always remember the people who say that they were not able to say goodbye and I love you to their loved ones once they were gone. So I try to do that every day. It is so very important to do that. And I hope that it reaffirms to my daughter that I love her.

  5. Great going.. It really isn’t possible for me to handle those many tasks you do a day:). I love spending a lot of time with my baby after other commitments and that’s when I get too less time for many other things. Inspired from you mommy:)

  6. Wow! Doing a blog everyday is impressive! But, being a Dr. on top of that blows my mind! You are one busy lady! Thanks for all the information you share and your tips!

  7. Boy I’m amazed by your energy and organization! I don’t have any kids and I don’t think I would be able to do all these things in one day. Great job!
