Lockdown, Lipstick, Love for Gardening

The Lockdown is increasing monotony, anxiety, depression, and giving many people sleepless nights. It got me thinking about stuff too.

What would life be if this thing drags on till we get the vaccine shot? I got my name right up there at the front of the list when it comes to getting vaccines. I hope we all survive.

Balcony gardening keeps me happy

If there is prevention, I will do it. So many people coming outdoors to discuss why they are coming out. They stand and talk for hours about how bored they are at home. All the time wearing their masks diligently covering their necks. It’s the neck that needs protection while keeping their mouth and nose open. The mystery is still to be solved.

I was watering the plants on my window.I was a little careless and a few drops of water spilled over. Someone said

“Madam, you are pouring water on the footpath?”

I really wanted to ask him,”what are you doing below my window? You are supposed to be indoors.” But I restrained. Times are difficult.

All those who are ignoring Lockdown are they socially irresponsible? Don’t they care for social wellbeing? If staying home kept you healthy and your family safe, why wouldn’t you stay home?

Lockdown, massive testing, social distancing and wearing masks are the right plan. But we all need to follow this diligently. Everything else, I believe, can be an experiment of the worrying kind. God is watching, and we will all answer to him one day. This is not the time for petty politics, confusing messages, and ignoring realities.

Do the hard thing, and history will remember you kindly. If not, history will still remember.Just not as kindly.Or maybe you and me won’t matter at all .That’s the occasional sad me, getting the better of my keyboard.

I almost edited that part out. It’s a little morbid,I feel. But considering all the diseases I told you about last week, this is nothing. Now the good part. Read this part carefully.

If blogs are part of internet history, we are making history this month .Even if we don’t write ever again, these posts will be in an archive somewhere and people of the future will know we wrote in April 2020. The time when we were all under lockdown! That’s something to think about.

I wonder what goes on in the mind of Xi Jingping? Has he already written his version of history? Is he feeling bad? Is he feeling sad and is just misunderstood?

Unlikely he is feeling anything and even if he does, I will never know. I hope America wins the class action suit against the CPC. I wish I could join them somehow.

Now for the Lipstick part. The lipstick I need to get me going throughout the day. Right before the sweeping and mopping starts, I put on my favorite lipstick. It somehow makes things better.

Then comes love. Love is important. Especially when you are stuck indoors. I love my family, my books, my garden, my Goldfish, visiting birds, the blog, and my readers who help make blogging easier. In crazy times like this love, definitely make the world a better place.

While I share garden updates every month, this time, I was lazy. So in this post, you are getting videos from a Lockdown Garden. Plants are not afraid of the New Corona Virus and are blooming.

I have shared a lot of information about ENT health topics this month. ENT A to Z is a way of sharing health education with my patients too. Does your doctor Blog?Let me know if he /she does. I would love to read it.

  1. What a lovely post. Especially the history bit and the lipstick bit. Only the other day I was thinking I haven’t worn lipstick in a month! I do hope people look back on this phase 4-40 years from now and remember the lessons they learnt.

  2. People are scared, mad and can’t understand what’s going on or when it will end. But looking at your balcony garden makes me forget the virus and see beauty. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I’ve been wearing my favorite lipstick, too! And I agree – people who aren’t social distancing are making us all more vulnerable.

  4. Enjoy reading this post. This in particular made me smile:
“If blogs are part of internet history, we are making history this month. Even if we don’t write ever again, these posts will be in an archive somewhere and people of the future will know we wrote in April 2020.”

Now I’m off to water my spider plant.

  5. I love the idea of balcony gardening. I have lots of indoor plants and a garden in my yard AND I would like to spruce up my porch. Thank you for the ideas and YES! We are making history – good, bad, indifferent and creative.

  6. I loved this post. I halted to a stop at your sentence “If blogs are part of internet history …”! Wow. That’s something many of us never think about. It makes me think about what I’m putting out there. Is it helpful? Is it positive? And admittedly, I’ve gotten lazy about appearance during this lockdown. Maybe I need to add lipstick everyday too. Thanks for sharing!

  7. I am amazed to see this balcony gardening. Though we don’t have any balcony, but I would love to have only for gardening and reading in solitude. Beautiful, just loved it. Wonderful gardening.

  8. Hi Amrita. I don’t visit you often but every time I do, I completely enjoy reading you. Thank you for this post on the lockdown. And the balcony gardening. I’m also lucky to have an open terrace with plants. Survival places in the lockdown.
