When I first shifted to a small town I was struck by how nongreen my views were. I could see a sliver a sky and other people’s windows.

It was brown grey and depressing. Then I read a book called Love the home you have by Melissa. It is a mindset altering book. It talks about how you and I look forward to living in our own homes one day and forget to live.
Our entire life is spent planning that one home we will be one day own.
But when you are bringing up a family you need to live with love. You need to make your home peaceful, welcoming and loving.
Home decor is not for other people it’s for you.

  1. Hey Amrita, it is always a to read your blogs. Looking at greenery boosts my moods instantly and I read you saying that it is medically proven also. Recently, I have added two indoor plants to my table family and admire them while I write.
    Loved your videos so much.

  2. I couldn’t agree more. A house with greenery around or in is so much happier. I loved those videos and how pretty they all look. You are right that decor is for people who live inside 🙂
Thank you for joining us on #WordsMatter. You made the blog hop green!

  3. You have a beautiful garden, Amrita. I am getting indoor plants in my house. I want to add more flowers to our small balcony as well. 🙂

  4. wow you have setup such a beautiful garden. Excellent utilisation of space. Your hardwork in maintaining the garden is very inspiring 🙂

  5. When I was young we lived in a big house with a garden in front and a compound behind which had many trees. The garden in front was my area to plot and plan and decide what plants I wanted. When I got married and moved to an apartment, I missed my garden so much. That is when I created my window garden. It really is a lovely soothing sight. Every home I have moved into in later years meant another window garden. This house has more windows and I happily experiment with planting all sorts of things.

  6. Loved your take on the prompt. I aslo have a little balcony garden with just herbs and a palm.

  7. I visited your blog over the weekend but couldn’t comment. I think a garden makes a world of difference to the house both aesthetically and healthwise. Green is calming and even planting a small pot makes one happy. Unfortunately fear of dengue makes me restrict my balcony garden, else I’d have had a forest by now

  8. Amazing! I absolutely love balcony gardens! But I feel guilty about travelling when I leave them unattended for days. I am interested in looking into self watering plants. I think I might need your help sometime soon.

  9. How wonderful Amrita. Loved your garden and what an amazing range of plants you have. I do have greens outside my window but mostly non-flowering non-fruiting variety because we don’t get as much sun as that would require. But I do love each of them.

  10. I really wish for a balcony garden and an indoor garden but I don’t have a green thumb. Outside my window, all I see is teh generator and a few plans before the apartment complex boundary. Sigh!

  11. That is so lovely. Even I wish to have a lovely green space outside my house but it is a little difficult staying in a rented accommodation and the neighbors dogs harming the plants.

  12. Wow, such beautiful Balcony Garden where you have nurtured and cared them so nicely, you really have green hands, wish I can learn from this post and have that small cozy green corner inside my window too.

  13. Love that line: Home decor is not for other people it’s for you! How often we forget that. What a lovely balcony garden you have, Amrita.

  14. You have a really lovely garden. I am a plat enthusiast myself and love spending time with my plants and I can say that you feel the same.

  15. It’s wonderful that you created a green world around you!! It takes patience and perseverance to start an indoor garden but the benefits are immense. I dont have a green thumb, but I am planning to change that! Thanks for the inspiration, Amrita!
