  1. I love these tips, thank you. I rarely like to see the doctor so I always try to fix illnesses myself. If it gets really bad, I go, but other than that, I find staying at home works best for me and my family.

  2. Last year around this time, I was losing my voice so I gargled with warm salt water as somebody suggested… I lost my voice completely for literally a whole week after that! I didn’t have a sore throat or anything. I was just super hoarse after battling a cold. This post would’ve been really helpful at that time!

  3. And here I’ve always thought gargling was the way — lol.
Coincidentally, right now, I am having some difficulties swallowing, had to skip dinner tonight, but I think it’s something minor and I hope it’ll be gone by tomorrow morning.

  4. This is such an interesting article and I definitely found it helpful! I for sure deal with hoarseness this time of year so it’s good to know there are some things I can try at home before calling the dr!

  5. I usually tend to let it fight the cold or what not, but yes I heard gargling with warm salt water helps but doesn’t taste so plesant either lol.

  6. I never knew that gargling was bad for a hoarse voice! I am definitely going to remember this. My kid has been complaining of an ear ache and sore throat this week as well. We are going to wait until monday to see if he feels better before taking him to the doctor. I’m hoping it’s just a cold.

  7. I am trying to think of what would be classified as improper use of the voice lol but lovely tips. Thanks for sharing, no more gaggling indeed for me now.

  8. These are such great tips! I remember when I completely lost my voice (literally, not a single sound came out of my mouth) on the morning of my final college musical performance and I had to sing a solo song! My utter panic didn’t help as there were no understudies! I try to keep myself as healthy as I can with lots of healthy odds, vitamins and dressing appropriately for he cold weather.

  9. Great to know! I rarely like to go to the doctor, so I’ll keep these tips in mind. I generally just start drinking a lot of water.

  10. Very useful tips Amrita! A hoarse throat is very difficult to handle. I once had such a problem injanuary two years ago, from then I have never given chance to get it again. Oh it was horrible not able to express n to keep smiling at everyone when they ask you something.
