Fitness challenge to make you stronger

My daughter is 4 and half years old .For the last 4 years I’ve told my hubby that I am getting fitter ,mentally !
The amount of exercise I do in my brain could have made me a  bikini super model by now.
This year finally I found an answer to my fitness woes.
I had more fun getting fitter ,than ever before.

The lessons I learned :

#1 Talk to your brain. It’s the boss!

“I am happy with my body” ,line would have worked ,if that was true. Not lying to myself is my first rule.
I have a treadmill which I use everyday to walk or run or stroll whatever as long as I get on it.It makes me happy.
That shot of adrenaline helped me  explore  how I can make the treadmill trips less boring.I have a few hacks which I will be sharing.

#Lesson 2

Dumbbells are my favourite  .
Lifting weights are a lot of fun.
They give me a feeling of accomplishment .
I started my weight training journey , apprehensively not sure I could continue it.
But continue I did.
While doing the Blogchatter challenge # My Friend Alexa, I realized most people work best in a community. After reading this this Blogchatter challenge it became obvious to me that, when you’re having fun, with friends its easier to get difficult work done.

What’s more difficult than  getting fitter?

Weight loss is not just about self image for me.It’s about finding  my strongest self.I want my daughter to grow up strong.Strong mothers can help their children grow up stronger.
Not afraid  of the world and its lurking dangers.
As protests for the  wrongs suffered continues ,women need to grow stronger.
The stronger you become it will be more difficult to suppress your voice.

#Lesson 3

When you are the ideal weight ,your heart and your joints having less work to do .
There’s a reason weight and height charts are matched .
Life is about a healthy living and the best life possible.

I started lifting weight 6 months back with one  set of dumbbells.
Now I have  a few.  Living  in a little town in West Bengal  and with my crazy schedule, going to the gym  is not convenient .
So whatever I do have to be done at home.
When I started my fitness journey I had a few nagging pains ,left over from my post pregnancy days.
The stronger I became , the better I felt about myself.
The less pains and aches I had .

Body weight  and mental health ,have a deep relationship .Mind and body ,live together in your consciousness.

When your mind decides  it wants to get stronger  you will get stronger.

With 71 days left before 2017 are you as strong as you would like to be?

Are you upto, taking part in a fitness challenge to become the strongest you?
If yes ,you need to do two little  things.

  1. I have a elliptical rider in the basement that I need to get on. It truly feels so wonderful when you get to spend 30mins or more exercising (running, etc) it’s brain fuel. I just need to trick my brain into getting up 30 mins earlier everyday. 🙂 Keep it up !

  2. I totally agree that getting in shape starts in your mind. I go through phases where I’m really focused and disciplined and others where I’m just too busy to even care. I would love to have working out as part of my routine by the time 2017 rolls around!

  3. Getting fit before and afer having a baby is awesome, it means you are still your real self and you love yourself. And additional star if your baby joins you in your exercise. I saw many Mommas joins their babies on their yoga.

  4. I NEED to get into shape and I’ll get there some day. Right now, my shape is simply… round- post baby. I have been losing though due to chasing the toddler around. Time to make my fitness a priority I suppose.

  5. I try to workout in gym for at least 4 days a week and whenever I get time, I go for running or hot yoga classes! It helps me feel good about myself as well as calm my mind!

  6. This looks like a great fitness challenge! I am currently working on my routine and found this very motivating.

  7. Very True. If the mind isn’t set in becoming stronger and growing, neither will the body. I love It! Keep doing what your doing

  8. I so so so wanted to read this today. Trying hard to get back to my routine since I came back from vacation. I haven’t resumed my walks or Zumba. So it’s been close to 20 days since I have worked out. I was feeling so sad. 🙁 Thanks, Amrita. I will start from tomorrow morn! 🙂

  9. You have inspired me with this post. I need to get back in shape super fast since my body is inert and inactive. I gotta be back with yoga and try some little exercise to start. Will start speaking to the brain, too.

  10. This is such a motivating post, Amrita! While people crib and complain about lack of time whee fitness is concerned, you’re just going ahead and getting it done.
I love the part about setting an example for your daughter.
Lifting weights is fun, and an important requirement for bone development for women especially, but most women shy away from doing so, due to various misconceptions.
I wish you would write a post on that.

    1. Thanks Mayuri.Actually my daughter was a big inspiration. The easiest way to teach children to live healthy is to do it myself. Will be following up with your idea to bust the weight loss myths.
