Writing Tools, 26 Tips on How to Improve Your Writing Cheryl Sterling is a book I wanted to review for a long time.

Cheryl’s book is a treasure trove for all bloggers, new or experienced. She gives tips, tricks, and wisdom which only someone who has learned through experience can deliver. Many who write have a dream to be an author. But the route to traditional publishing, self-publishing, and writing as a craft or trade is made into a confusing mess. The proverbial tangled twine rarely gives a clear answer. But this is where Cheryl helped.

How is  the book arranged?

Alphabetically you are taken through different aspects of an authors book sphere. What you need to do and learn is tabulated in a quick read which doesn’t waste your time.

“A” is for Amazon Author’s Page
“B” is for Board Boosters
“C” is for Canva
“D” is for Draft2Digital
“E” is for Email List
“F” is for Facebook Groups
“G” is for Goodreads
“H” is for HootSuite
“I” is for Images
“J” is for Journey, Hero’s

For the rest, you will need to read the book.

Pros of the book:

  • An easy read.
  • Very useful for new authors, wannabe author and also bloggers.
  • Guides you about author platforms and how social media can help you as a writer.
  • Cool tips for fiction writers to sketch out their story.
  • Gives you great tips to handle self-publishing easily.
  • Guide to navigate the way from blog to book.
  • It’s written without technical jargon.
  • It helped me a lot.

Cons: Since it’s an A to Z book the importance of each of the components and how they are related to each other, is a little confusing for first timers. But for people with a little experience, it actually brings the blog to author story to completion.

My take on Writing Tools, 26 Tips on How to Improve Your Writing

Must read if you have an author dream.

She has conducted several workshops that focused on the writing craft and co-chaired their first “I’ve Always Wanted to Write a Book” regional conference. In her spare time she reads. All genres (except suspense and horror because she reserves the right to mess with readers’ minds). She loves history (lots of ideas to steal borrow), sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal, Regencies (who knew so many eligible Dukes were around?), anything Doctor Who, and/or quantum entanglement. Her passion is learning and improving her craft, but mostly, she is a teacher. Cheryl currently lives in Phoenix with her husband and their cat, Coco Xena.
