Thankful Thursdays is one of the best ways to practice thanking the almighty for everything she/he does for us.Why is it important to thank?Thanking is one way of remembering all the good things that happen to us.
When you are thankful, you open yourself up , to endless possibilities of goodness.
It’s Christmas season and what better way to gear up.
The more you say thank you , more chance of Santa being happy with you.
Adults don’t really believe in Santa. But I have found faith and hope to be very powerful.
If you are working hard and praying hard, there’s very little in the world which is unattainable.
For # Thankful Thursdays this week we are writing to show appreciation for all the gadgets/appliances at home, that make our life easier. What are those wonders which make homemaking easier for you?
I am a reluctant house manager.I like doing the pretty chores.Gardening , occasional cooking and decorating are things I enjoy. But washing clothes! My God! It haunted me in Delhi during my PG days. The chill of Delhi winters and cloth washing horrors.
I didn’t have a washing machine back then.
Living in a 1 room in a hostel didn’t have the space for a washing machine.Nor did I earn enough on my stipend to buy one.
I had a kind old woman named Martha who did the rooms and washed clothes. If I was asleep after my night duty and didn’t open my door, she waited.Sitting patiently outside my room on the stairs she waited for me to wake up and give her clothes to wash.I don’t know what I would have done without her.
It’s been 7 years I still remember her.
The first thing I did when we moved to a proper flat.Buy a washing machine.
Easily my favourite home appliance.
I give a silent thank you, every time I load the clothes into the machine.
The Second one
I hardly ever cooked before 2007 April. This is specific because that’s when I moved to Delhi.
Delhi training was more than just my postgraduate degree. It was a housekeeping learning curve.
A very steep curve.I was not yet married.Cooked only the very basic stuff.
Had to get a gas oven to have the occasional Maggi when the canteen downstairs made inedible food.Overall I managed.Just managed.
I got married in 2008.My hubby was a better cookBut I wanted him to be awestruck by my all-round talent. He was not awestruck! But he was kind.He ate all my experimental food .
Plus we had friends over who hated the canteen food so much, that my simple meals made them happy.Getting confident I wanted to buy a microwave with OTG . I bought it finally in 2009 on a 0% EMI through Bajaj finance.
Why do I remember such details?
I remember because then, I had to count my pennies.Save up.Live without small luxuries to get those appliances. But we did it.Plus we enjoyed our life more.
Enjoyed them more ,because they were deeply appreciated .That habit of saving up to buy something special ,is a great one. Most financial fitness gurus like Dave Ramsay will tell you the same thing .It’s called the envelope system .Remember the money saving trick I told you about? That’s saved using this technique.Since these are small denomination currency the Noteban was not a problem.
The 3rd thing that I am thankful for is my Samsung Tablet and wifi .Have to mention them together .Without them I wouldn’t have started blogging.Ever.A 2-year-old would never allow mommy to play alone ,with an interesting toy like a laptop .
If not for my tablet and wi-fi, my story would be different .What are your favourite 3 gadgets at home ?Write a post and Link Up now.

Loved reading this post! Things are getting changed very fast and effecting strongly our living standards!
I’m thankful for my mac for lasting as long as it is lasting right now. It’s doing a great job. Haha
We are usually on the move lately, but one of our favourite gadgets was a robot floor cleaner. It would sweep, mop, and sanitise the floors on its own while we were out. awesome.
For me, life would be impossible without dishwasher, washing machine & dryer, my laptop, tablets and all the endless gears that I posses. I feel grateful that we are living in the world where we can use any technology at the ease of our fingertips!
Love the idea of thankful Thursday! I love my washing machine too, I would lost without it. What a lovely lady that did your washing.

I am thankful for having my washing machine at home, my buddy for washing my heavy clothes and huge bedsheets, as I don’t like sending these to laundry shops. #ThankfulThursday ????
I loved this. I remember when my Husband and I first started living together. We had no tablets, no smartphones, no apple TV, Netflix or flat screen TV etc… we had one laptop between us and an old tube tv from a charity store. Not much but it was wonderful. We talked so much and watched the same things together. It’s good to be grateful every day.
I think growing up in Delhi would be tremendously different than my upbringing! My parents always tell me stories of their childhood days and the way their schools were structured and I’m just shocked at the differences!
Isn’t it amazing ho much we reflect on our past challenges! I truly think that helps us grow as people. Thanks for sharing your thanks.
Loved reading your post. I guess hostel does reminds us our good old days and the struggle we faced with food, cleaning and our maggie days. 😛 I did survive over maggie until i got married in 2015, i can proudly say the second part of hostel life living with mister helped me become a manageable cook..:D
I am always thankful to the gadgets which help me sort the daily chores of life., i guess my phone is my all time saviour.
Xo,
Shreya!
Loved reading about this Amrita and remembered our early days of marriage when we bought all gadgets together for the first time. Liked the prompt so surely going to write about it. 🙂
I’ll have to check out that book you mentioned!
My tablet comes in handy too. I love that, and my phone.
I am thankful for the technology and gadgets that help me to finish my tasks everyday. I prefer to multitask so having home appliances like microwave saves time.
Thank you for thinking my post was worth a win! I loved writing for today’s prompt. It was fun. I am sure my gadgets/appliances lapped up the love I sent them 🙂
Washing machines are such a necessity, and I can totally go back to the time when I had absolutely zero help for laundry!
I still need to buy a tablet, I want it so bad 🙁
