Kid Friendly Restaurants in Kolkata #MondayMommyMoments (43)Guide

Kid Friendly Restaurants in Kolkata !
Kid Friendly Restaurants in Kolkata !

Why do you need kid-friendly restaurants?Oh, there are a million reasons.Number one being because mommies need to occasionally go out and try mingling with the rest of the world, without feeling judged.

Children take a long time to grow up, but life needs to go on.Special occasions need celebrations and mommy needs a break from kitchen duty.Even if the kid eats nothing at these places, if she looks happy picking at the food and soaking in the ambiance(yes they do that believe me ), then your work is done. You have some time to feel relaxed eating food cooked by someone else other than you.

My favorite places are those that are spacious, smiling kid-friendly service, where they have something for the child to watch or do.Also, there must be enough moving space so that you don’t bring all the cutlery down trying to save the ice cream!

I also like sensible ethical restaurants who understand that a regular five-year-old will not be able to eat from the buffet.

If you are visiting Kolkata with a kid then you need to know just the right place to eat and relax. While Kolkata has a wonderful variety of delectable cuisines to choose from all restaurants are not built the same way.

My favorite Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Kolkata :

6 Ballygunj place at Salt Lake

We went for a quick lunch after some official work.My mother and baby were both waiting in the car for us.We ended up having a leisurely lunch where they didn’t charge a penny for my 5-year-old who had fish fries and fried rice from the buffet. This one is pocket-friendly too.

One con: Space crunch!

Mainland China at South city

The only place where Rai enjoys using the cutlery.Wonderful service and the spaciousness makes it a comfortable destination for families. The service is impeccable and it’s always a pleasure visiting. The buffet is pocket-friendly .

One con: Don’t like the desserts (that’s me )

Bombay Brasserie at Quest Mall

Wonderful place for lunch or dinner. The decor, service, and food are all fantastic and my daughter loved the knickknacks around the place. Not somewhere children can wander through! Not pocket-friendly from any direction, but the taste of the food and the quality is exceptional.

Oh Calcutta at the Forum Mall

Delicious food, spacious seating and wonderful service. They are quick enough to get you your child’s favorite dish quickly. The buffet is priced on the high side. But if you want authentic Kolkata food don’t skip this one.

K19 All Day Dining

If you want to eat out at odd times and don’t know where to go.Spacious with an adjoining enclosed balcony like area,

where you can play with your child till the food arrives. It’s also great for photo ops too.The food is a lavish spread.A little pricey. But you will find everything. They will make food according to the child if needed.Food taste is moderate.

Desserts for the kid and you

Mama mia for the kid in an ice cream parlor feel. The one on the Southern Avenue is new but has all the right vibes.

Cakes “the Cake shop which is a must visit for their melt in the mouth pineapple cake, black forest cake, sinful Chocolate fudge cake and can’t just have one tart!

Flurys we all love but their service could be better. They are rushed and not friendly. But it could be because we end up at Flurys on Christmas morning breakfast when the entire populations visit too!Must visit Flurys for Brunch it’s wonderful.Definitely expensive but an experience you will cherish.

  1. I like the first few lines in this post – Mummies have to catch up with rest of the world and they have to take their kids along with them so that they don’t get judged. How true!
I don’t go out to eat often for the reason that at some point of time long back, to my utter disadvantage, I drilled into D’s mind that home cooked food is the best and outside food is not healthy. Thus, he doesn’t eat anything from outside except dosa and pizza. He will only go against his own principle when we go on a holiday outside Bangalore for 2-3 days. However, I will definitely check Deepa’s post for kid-friendly restaurants in Bangalore.

  2. I loved the topic you chose! Indeed there is a need to unwind with kids being around and without feeling guilty. I will keep this list handy when in Kolkata

  3. That’s very helpful guide as kids get bored where they don’t have playing activities and these places kids will definitely have full fun

  4. Never dined with my baby as I left Kolkata by then but still main land China ballygunge remains our fav ..the reason was proximity to our home too but still nothing can beat that place as I have my so many pregnancy cravings answered there…loved this list will try out few recommended by you on my next visit

  5. I love it when I find kid-friendly restaurants. With an almost three year old, and a four month old, sometimes it becomes increasingly difficult to find a place to eat where the servers don’t give you weird looks and you can’t enjoy your meal because you get terrible looks at every little peep your kids make!

  6. When you have small kids you need to go to such places for eating where the kids can be kept engaged for sometime. Atleast the food can be enjoyed with some peace. If I ever visit Calcutta, I will read your blog again.
