I know video is important for everything now. But its something I struggle with.Today I will share how I started and the inspiration behind it.

Its seven years since I started Blogging.Now I write, create vlogs, podcasts, and have published several books on Amazon. I create content around health, wellness, financial freedom, and how education is a bridge to live the best life you can.

I am a part of the Blogchatter community for four years, and it’s a fantastic group of bloggers.

How to start vlogging with help from Lights Camera Chatter

One of the campaigns Lights Camera chatter was the motivation to start blogging. I was not really making a lot of video content before .Because I felt,I lacked the skills to make quality videos. But attending sessions by Akash Banerjee, I realized I could have better audio and video without breaking the bank.

His recommendations helped me buy a budget-friendly lapel mike, and that was the beginning of better sound for my vlogs.

In another light camera session by Kartik Nijman, I learned about the production process of a video. Especially about the framing of videos and making vlogs look good, without losing your mind. His recommendations about tripod and lighting made me think smarter about video production at home.

I learned about speaking into the camera from Siddharth Mishra, about having a plan and a script. I could not be ill-prepared if I wanted to fight the nervousness. It should be like talking to a friend.

The voice modulation is essential. He gave a special tip about trying to practice chanting Om to make the voice sound well! Voice, not noise, as he said.

If not for #LightsCameraChatter, I would have never started making video as a part of my content bouquet!

I am quite shy about speaking in front of the camera. Having a script and rehearsing makes it much more manageable. Then I imagine one day my videos will help me make loads of money. I try to understand the topic and then write the script. Record the audio and see how long it is, how it sounds.


Before shooting the video, I check these:

A room that won’t have echoing sound. Get my Boya lapel, Mike. Plenty of light in the room. Script memorized and my outfit ready Camera setup at a complementary angle
Husband at hand to help. Baby well-fed and playing
Then I shoot the video. I edit using Lumen5 most of the time.
Plus, I pray. All this helps

  1. I get nervous about videos, too! And I know I probably need to do better with lighting and sound, too. Good tips!

  2. Great pointers for making good video. I have made a few but I’m not the greatest speaker, my brain is telling me something but my tongue is lashing out something else. LOL I’ll have to give it another shot!!

  3. I keep being told that video is the thing. But, I still blog- and read blogs. To me, video is too reminiscent of the boob tube. Very little creative or deep thinking there.

  4. Thank you for this. I will need to look into Lights Camera Chatter. I am just getting back into blogging, and I know I should have video, but like you feel unskilled in making videos.
