Recipe for a Healthy You

Health is a blessing we only seem to appreciate in less optimal conditions.Recently a close relative was discovered  to be diabetic with skyrocketing blood sugar.Though obese he was happy and previously  having no other significant metabolic conditions had lived in his happy go lucky manner.

Derangement of his blood glucose started few months back for which he had started medicines , but no diet changes. He continued his high sugar, high fat diet with no exercise   but   daily medicines.

Are you shocked I was.Did this help him ? No.

He was worse off for This! Hospital admission, insulin, strict diet changes but still little or no exercise.

So moral of the story..

Make small changes in your diet, exercise.Lifestyle modifications in small doses go a long way when you are already healthy. They are  more  difficult when you are ill and depressed

Make small changes. One small diet change  today and exercise will make a healthier more attractive you forever?

Being a doctor does not make me immune from various  health challenges.Maintaining a  daily healthy dietary routine for my family is a daily challenge I face like all moms.

In the mad rush to do it all your health invariably suffers and you  end up piling the kilos. The more tired you become , the more difficult    it is to keep it healthy .

This is a healthy, tasty, quick easy salad for the very busy bees. This one I made from my own kitchen garden produce:-)Hope you enjoy it.

Lettuce and microgreens salad

Ingredients:

  • Iceberg lettuce
  • frozen berries/black grapes/oranges
  • sprouts and microgreens
  • lemon juice
  • almonds
  • molasses or brown sugar ( according to taste)

Method:

Wash, clean and soak the Iceberg lettuce   leaves in cold water.Chop the berries and nuts.

Place the berries , nuts, sprouts on each of the lettuce leaves.

Drizzle a little lemon juice over them and add slivers of molasses or brown sugar to balance the acidity from the berries .

Make little wraps and pop it in your  mouth.

Isn’t it Yum!

This quick salad is full of vitamins and so easy to make.

For an even healthier version you can grow your own  microgreens  and enjoy the benefit of freshest of Salads.
