Freedom From Being Judged as a Mom MondayMomyMoments

Freedom from being judged as a mom is not easy. But it’s a  secret wish that all moms have!

Are you going to have a career?SAHM or WAHM?Does it matter? All moms work. All the time.No pay, no leave nonstop worrying. Forever !What kind of people want to go through that?Moms do.We love our little bundle of joys

But that’s when the pain starts. The judgment. For moms, it’s Judgement day every day!

From the woman at the laundromat to your bank manager, everyone has an opinion on mothers and what they should do.Even your best friends and people who are otherwise normal will judge you.

We are judgmental humans. We like(need) people to conform. We don’t like different.Though we want to be.

We don’t like it when women do it all.Learn, work, have a family and want to do more.

We think it’s only people like Angelina Jolie or Madhuri Dixit with the money and the clout can manage it all.But for you, me and the ordinary woman it’s always going to be:

Do you stay at home?So you are not working!

Imagine a non-working mom.That species is non-existent.

You work?How do you manage?

With lots of help and hair tearing worry!

But why do you need to work?Your hubby doesn’t earn enough?

Why is it difficult to understand, that I want a career after studying my entire life? What exactly will I teach my girl?I am confused.Help me out here.

Are you a mommy blogger?Where do you get the time with a child? You don’t have a career right?

Did you give up your career?(That’s what you say!)

Your husband helps and you manage, home and work? You liar!

Yes, you have heard this all. This Independence day I promise not to judge other women.I also want Freedom from being judged.Writing this for #MondayMommyMoments prompt.

MondayMommyMoments 33 Winning Post -Tulika

The point about gender neutrality was mentioned by Anubhuti, Shipra, and Vidhi too.Maybe we as mothers are doing this right.Breaking the stereotypes will go a long way to change how society thinks.

  1. Oh yes..people judge moms in whatever they do or not do. I have been asked different questions depending on my work status or my decisions. we really need a freedom from all this.

  2. I have heard the most of it …but now it doesnt matter to me…I dont give ear to the thoughts which can make me sad. Being a mommy was my own choice , so how I make this journey wonderful should also be my choice…

  3. Not being judged can be so liberating. I hate it when people judge, but i don’t let the judgement get to me. I only care for those who matter to me and thankfully they give me enough freedom

  4. Hits the nail. Why can’t we just be. If the world were to live and let live, life would be so peaceful and happier for everyone.
Loved your take. Nice picture of Rai and you Amrita. ????

  5. Being judged keeps you on constant radar of getting criticised for no good. And the worst of all is women are major perpetrators behind judging others. I love the way you gave examples of different strata of society on Judging Women.

  6. Being judged is always like a pressure on you. Everything whatever you do, somebody had something to say. And I feel very irritated. I want to stop being judged as a mom
