Blog to Book : Book review & the mompreneur’s dream

Today I will tell you about the one dream all bloggers have .Writing a book.I want to write books too.Not one many.Main problem  is starting. Plus I want to learn the steps .Just like I learnt blogging ,I want to know the inside and outside of writing a book.

The research is a lot of fun. There are two ways of doing everything .
  • Not being ready  and praying.
  • Getting ready and praying
I like the second method better.

Step one :read all you can .
I promised my subscribers that they would get the exclusive summary and takeaways from the I was gifted .So the summary is available in my VIP LIBRARY.
But a review is needed .
It’s one of the ways to say thank  you and share the goodies.

Blog to Book by P.R.Newton is useful if you have never researched self publishing.

But it’s not a step by step guide. Many people will tell you  to take a bunch of your old posts and publish them on Kindle. But did you know that’s not allowed by Amazon.

That is ,you can’t  have more than 10% of your book available  for free anywhere. But your blog can be a golden tool to find the topic which your audience likes.

Books are a great method to monetize your brand
  • It can build your brand.

  • It can bring in a whole new audience for your writings.

  • It can be a value-added feature for your followers.

  • A great income stream
In the book the author gives you a quick overview of the pain points .
No sugarcoating makes this book a useful read before you consider the self publishing mountain.

Pros of the book :

  • Gives you quick tips to get started with put the overwhelm
  • An honest reality check about self publishing.
  • Useful tips for writers who want to DIY the process.
  • Amazon hacks to help.
  • Motivational reading if you have been dilly dallying writing the first book (like me)

Cons

  • Like everything much of it is not new  .
  • You may have read it before.
  • The book is also  sadly deficient in details needed to pin point a winning topic (maybe that’s still not known

How will you find a topic to write about ?

Today you will do 3 Things

1)Make a list of all the top 10 posts on your blog.
How will you do that ?
Check in your wordpress dashboard .
Or go to your Google Analytics and see the top posts .
Copy them on an  excel spreadsheet or write them down.Whatever just get it together.
2)Check Amazon for those topics see if there are books on those topics .
3)Think hard  .Does writing a book on these topics excite you?
This is crucial.Otherwise none of the next steps will work.
The million dollar question is how to know whether your  book will take off ?
How to format your book for Kindle?
Should you design your book cover or a  professional? The answer will surprise you.
How to market your book ?
Amazon or your website?
Where should you sell your book?
There are books which answer these questions and blogs that help.
That’s what I am researching now.

  1. What an insightful post. So essentially we can’t publish the AtoZ challenge posts if we want to is it? Or we can self publish? How does it work Amrita…

  2. Writing and getting my book published is a dream I want to accomplish at any cost since I was 15 years old. 🙂 I’ll keep your tips in mind.

  3. Here in Manila, some of IT bloggers already have their own book, and its a good way to monetize and solidify their brand.

So far I’ve heard positive feedback about their books.

  4. I am not at this point of wanting to write my own book if I ever will be. I do however find this post very helpful as my daughter loves to write and would love to have her own book! So some of your tips are very helpful for her. She has the passion but may need to find focus.

  5. Some really good tips. I don’t think I have the creative talent to write a whole book or the patience. I wouldn’t know where to start. It’s good there is a guide to help people along.

  6. Wow, I think perhaps everyone might have thought about writing a book at one point and time. These are some great things to consider and keep in mind. Thanks for sharing!
