What do I want in my baby product?

● It should be natural, hypoallergenic.

● It should be a trusted brand.

● Being baby skin-friendly is a first, but ecofriendly is a close second.

●The baby product should be free from fragrances, dyes, and harmful chemicals.

If all these are your goals, you will love this list of my favorite natural body lotion for kids. You can find my list of Best organic baby face creams here.

A baby’s skin is the soft, smoothest skin you will ever feel. But have you ever noticed how silkiness reduces with time? You can blame the quality water, the baby wash, baby lotion, or the baby cream. Sometimes it could be all of them compounding the effect.

Sometimes it’s tough to know what is what from the long list of chemicals they list. That’s why I always share a list of baby care products when I recommend them. That way, you know what will work for you and your baby by knowing your options.

Mother Sparsh Plant Powered Natural Baby Lotion

Mother Sparsh is plant-powered from the very first, and its name is its promise. I am using Mother Sparsh natural baby lotion for my daughter for the last two years. It’s my worry-free choice for my child’s skin. It’s one of the best moisturizers for newborn babies.

Why Mother Sparsh?

What does it contain?

Mother Sparsh contains the best natural plant-powered ingredients, hydrating my baby’s skin. It’s perfect as a complete baby care lotion. You can use it as a babyface lotion as well as a body lotion. Their certified organic ingredients are high quality and take good care of baby skin.

A few of my favorite ingredients in Mother Sparsh plant Powered Natural baby lotion are:

Shea Butter – Shea butter is deeply nourishing and protective. It is suitable for sensitive skin. Shea butter has unsaponifiable fractions (triterpenes, tocopherol, phenols, and sterols). This gives it powerful anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties.

Organic Coconut oil: Coconut oil is perfect for easy skin absorption.I have a bias for products that contain coconut oil. That’s why coconut oil being one of the main ingredients of Mother Sparsh Baby oil makes me happy. I use Mother Sparsh products for my baby and my own skin and hair care. I trust a brand that keeps its promise.

The antioxidants in coconut oil are skin-friendly. Monolaurin in coconut oil is remarkable. It’s derived from lauric acid making up 50% of coconut’s lipid content. Its antimicrobial action protects against skin bacteria. Coconut oil, unlike others, also has antiviral and antifungal activity.

Avocado Oil: Avocado oil enriches dry, damaged, chapped skin and makes it smooth and supple. It reduces skin inflammation. Avocado oil has several skin-protective fatty acids, minerals, and vitamins A, C, D, and E.

Jojoba oil: The wax esters in jojoba oil helps to repair and rejuvenate skin. It enhances the skin barrier and has proven anti-inflammatory action.

Organic Apricot oil -It’s a natural skin moisturizer.

Aloe Vera extract gives it a soothing lotion. Aloe vera is a natural skin healer.

The Mother Sparsh Baby lotion is gentle and soothing for the baby’s skin. It has IFRA certified allergen-free fragrance. It’s best if you apply the body lotion after bath time when the skin is still moist.

Mother Sparsh Natural baby lotion is free of toxic substances. It’s free of phthalates, parabens, dyes, SLS, SLES, harsh chemicals, artificial fragrances. It’s non-irritant and helps you keep your baby’s skin soft, moisturized, and healthy.

Chicco

I have used a lot of Chicco products in my parenting journey. The brand is more than fifty years old and has excellent quality. It has almond milk, Illipe butter, Glycerine, and Vitamin E.

It suits all skin types and helps hydrate and keep the baby’s skin soft and supple. Chicco is free of parabens, SLS, SLES, dyes, alcohol, artificial colors, allergen fragrance, and mineral oil.

Baby face creams I love

Baby bottle cleaners

Himalaya Description

Himalaya Baby Lotion nourishes baby skin. It has Almond oil, licorice, olive oil, country mallow are the main ingredients. It’s free from parabens, mineral oil, and artificial colors. Himalaya Baby lotion is mild and keeps baby skin moisturized, supple, and skin.

Johnson’s Milk and Rice Lotion

Johnson’s milk and rice lotion has the goodness of milk proteins and hydrolyzed rice bran proteins. It’s pH-balanced hypoallergenic, enriched with many vitamins. It’s free from parabens, dyes, sulfates. It’s mild, and the brand promises soft skin for 24 hours.

But it contains mineral oil, fragrance, and alcohol, making it a tricky choice for many moms.

Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion

Aveeno stands out with its natural blend of oatmeal as the main ingredient. It’s light, hypoallergenic, affordable, and free from parabens, phthalates, fragrances, and dyes. It moisturizes well and soothes the skin.

Sebamed body lotion

Sebamed has a unique combination of emollients like sorbitol, chamomile, allantoin. These keep the baby’s delicate skin soft and well moisturized.

The major cons for me-Sebamed have several chemicals. The list includes artificial fragrance, sulfate, Benzyl alcohol. These chemicals can be potential triggers for skin irritation and allergy.

Cetaphil Best Baby Lotion – For Winter

Cetaphil has no colorant; it’s paraben-free and mineral oil-free. It contains calendula extract, marigold extract, almond oil, and sunflower oil. It’s more suitable for winter skincare.

But I am not fond of sunflower oil for skincare. It often doesn’t get absorbed into the skin and just sits on it.

Derma Dew

Derma Dew contains almond oil, shea butter, turmeric oil, vitamin E, liquid paraffin, lanolin, aloe vera. The moisturizing effect is good, keeping the baby’s soft skin well hydrated and supple.

But there are many other chemicals in it. Thats why it misses the mark as a plant-based product.

Best Baby Lotion Alternative: DIY it

Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil with Glycerine and Aloe vera extract. It’s an easy-to-make option and absorbs well. But in the wrong concentrations can be a little tricky to apply. For the homemade option preservation is not always easy and freshly made is recommended. Always perform a skin test before applying.

When is the Best Time To Apply The baby Lotion?

It’s best to moisturize the skin after a bath when the skin is still damp. That way, the pores are still open, and the lotion is easily absorbed. Helping the skin stay soft, smooth, supple, and well hydrated.

What to avoid when shopping for baby lotion?

Too many ingredients make me apprehensive. Especially long, complicated chemical names. With baby care products, less is best.

I prefer products which are :

● Free of Dye and Synthetic Fragrances.

● Free of Paraben( endocrine disruptor)

● Free of phthalates, Sodium Laureth, artificial fragrances, synthetic dyes

● Free of alcohol-containing products and free of petroleum-derived compounds

● Free of Phenoxyethanol( suspected potential carcinogen).

● Free of preservatives. Preservatives often cause skin irritations and allergic reactions.

I prefer organic Plant-based oils as the main ingredient in my baby lotion.

Super tip: You should always read the product label, even if the product is recommended by a favorite celebrity or your BFF.

Takeaway

You need a baby lotion for your baby’s skin, right? Choose the products with natural ingredients and fewer chemicals. Less is more, and it should be free of harmful chemicals. What you choose today affects your baby for a lifetime. . No one said this would be easy, right?
