When Rainbow Meets a Flower #Life’sLikeThat

This was an assignment my daughter wrote for her school English work. I am not a poetry writer, neither is my husband. Before I became a blogger, I wrote only prescriptions professionally. Now I do that and more, but no not poetry yet.

The poems are lovely. But some of them are too different and difficult for my brain.I like things that make sense, make me think, and give me that feeling of magic. There’s that something about flowers and rainbows. Just like poetry. I paint flowers and write cozy mysteries and self-help books. She draws little girls rainbows, and flowers and writes poetries and little detective stories. We have a good time together.

When my daughter writes poetry in Bengali or English, it gives me a lot of happiness that the little one can do that without our help. Because as parents we are supposed to help, right?

But for work like this she is equipped by a higher power. You can’t bottle up a rainbow. You can’t smell it, touch it or eat it. But you can enjoy the happiness of looking at one. I can remember seeing 3 rainbows in my adult life.I don’t know if I have seen more, but 3 I remember distinctly.

Once in Cheerapunji at the Polo Orchid Resort near Seven Sisters Waterfall.A lovely property. Twice in Malda near the Mango orchard where we play in the evening on weekends.

It’s lovely to know the science behind it . But the magic of it cannot be explained. Why we feel good looking at a rainbow or a flower is quite interesting. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I am guilty of generalizing. But do let me know if you like rainbows and flowers and this poem too.

When Rainbow meets Flower

What a lovely day!

said the flower as she looked at the bay.

There was a light breeze and some rain

The Sun was up Happiness hard to retain Hey, What’s That? Flower said,

“thing” with seven colours all laid! I’m a rainbow!” Thing” boomed. I’m certainly hard to overlook!

How pretty you are said Flower Jealously Well. So are you! grinned Rainbow widely.

Flower said & I haven’t seen you at night!”

Rainbow said That’s because I’m a reflection of light.

For long he boasted

And deeply flower listened. Where are you going! as Rainbow faded away.

Flower got a distant answer – sleepy! He had gone without a clue. Good day!

Flower stared-“Is this a dream, or is it true?” She turned to me- know, If you know Tell me, Will You?”
