Unforgettable Friend? How does one find an unforgettable friend?

Life happens when you are busy doing something else. This is true. I am lucky this way. I always have good and supportive friends. Friends who were not the best influence were also supportive in their own ways.I love them all. How they are, what they did all helped me. I know what I want from a friendship and that’s why I have to talk about one special friend today.

If I had a flower for every time I thought of you…I could walk through my garden forever.”

Alfred Tennyson

This friend I know from 2000. We went to Calcutta Medical College together. He was from a village in Bengal. I was always a city girl. For the first few years of college, we had hardly talked. We both were in Students politics and on opposing ends.

Then I had a hard time in my second professionals.I realized I needed, friends who studied more. The easiest way to study is to study with friends. Most of my friends circle hardly visited the formal lectures. But I loved the classes!

Enter the ever-smiling friend, also our class representative(CR). The only CR who was actually in the class.

“What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.”

― Aristotle

His father had just left the mortal world, after struggling valiantly at our medical college. With only an elder brother to support him and hardly any other family to support his education,  he was impressive in his outstanding academic results.

We became friends.

We are now friends for the last fifteen and a half years.

He is my husband and my life partner. We have studied together for the last 15 and a half years. Done our PG together. Shared heartbreaks, disappointments, and tragedy holding hands. We work together in the same medical college now and are parenting a five-year-old.

“It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.”

Friedrich Nietzsche

I love this friend and he is still more a friend than a typical hubby. Thank God for miracles!
