Coorg Trip (part 1):Coorg Cliff Resorts for the Best Family Vacation

Coorg Cliff Resorts is a luxury Boutique Hotel from where we bid Goodbye to 2022.

A group of twelve made up of friends and family, we visited Coorg Cliff Resorts a Luxury Boutique Hotel with amazing packages, warm hospitality, and an experience to savor. It was December 26th and we had till 30th morning to soak up the Coorg atmosphere.

Flying from the Netaji Subhash Bose Kolkata Airport to the Bengaluru Airport we had pre-booked a twelve-seater tempo-traveler through the resort.

Arrival Bengaluru Airport

Breakfast at a roadside tiffin center was good, fast service and tasty food, self-serve and standing only, making this stop a pretty functional experience. I couldn’t read the name as it was in the local language but clicked a snap to translate later.

The partly rocky landscape of the drive gave us vistas of Bougainvillea, Gulmohar, Coconut trees, and strangely cut hills looking regal and jutting out from the green cover. All the work of nature is beautiful. It gave me another opportunity to be grateful for the life I have.

The hospitality team of the hotel kept checking up on us en route. They promised to keep lunch waiting as long as we reached 3 pm. After that, it would be tricky. Something about traveling for holidays makes me hungry. We ate in-flight uninspired ready-to-eat noodles and smoked almonds. The roadside eatery had great dosa and tea welcoming hungry travelers. The speed of the self-serve restaurant was impressive.

We were traveling in a big group with 3 kids and 3 senior citizens. One of the kid and two of the senior citizens suffered from motion sickness in cars. The bigger trip traveler helped. Plus anti-motion sickness medication given 20 minutes before traveling was crucial.

We reached Coorg Cliff Resorts by 2.45 pm and rushed to the dining hall where a lavish buffet awaited.Eating and chatting we felt relaxed finally starting our holiday.

We settled down after lunch and unpacked. Our three deluxe family rooms were more like suites, with two rooms and two bathrooms. They were right next to each other and the kids loved popping in and out of the room while chatting nineteen-to-the-dozen.

The only problem with the rooms was that the two bathrooms were right next to each other and if you had family occupying the front bedroom, they would need to go through your room to use the washrooms. That’s a privacy issue that does create some problems.

Tea time was in the garden area, with hammocks, swings, and circular tables with comfortable chairs set under a green canopy. There was tea, coffee, cookies, and snacks .4.30 pm to 6.30 pm was the tea time.

After tea, we played basketball, badminton, table tennis, carrom, foosball and time flew. It was time for the evening documentary around Wild Karnataka and the heritage of Coorg.

We learned about the different animals in the reserve forest area, the natural vegetation of the coffee plantations and the people of Coorg in the various parts of the docu-series over the next few days.

After movie time it was game time. The guest list was mostly family with kids of various ages and everyone participate in playing party games around the bonfire. The temperature was mild and we all had fun. This was followed by dinner and then we danced the calories away . Bedtime came and we slept like babies waking up to chirping birds and a cool morning. More about that in the next part of the Coorg Series.

Interesting facts:

Flight information

We flew on Indigo on a very early morning flight at 5.40 am. That meant to sleep the night before was scrappy. Definitely needed pre-planning with regard to airport transportation. We booked through a rent-a-car agency for our airport drop in Kolkata. Uber was unreliable for many during the holiday season and we were in no mood for last-minute stress. The hotel arranged for the airport pickup from Bangalore Airport. The tempo-traveler was spacious but the 12-seater had surprisingly little luggage holding space for 12 people. If you have a lot of luggage, definitely let the hotel know about your car preferences beforehand.
