Why do you need a Newsletter?
That’s the one sure way of finding your readers. The real people who read your blog. The friends who make it all worthwhile.Wouldn’t you like to meet them?
I would. That’s why I started my email newsletter 2 years back.I make mistakes try new services ,read ,learn,, tweak , check and implement on my blog.
Why do you need Mailchimp?
Its a trusted service with a lot of cools stuff in its dashboard.Best part, it’s free for up to 2000 subscribers.Isn’t that great ?if you are a new blogger and don’t have the budget for a paid newsletter service, this is going to be a lifesaver.
What if you already have a blog subscription button?
Thats a default option for WP blogs. But that is not a real subscriber list right? Why?
Because you know who is following your blog, but you don’t have a way of emailing them because they haven’t opted into your newsletter service.
Whats the big deal about newsletter service?
Why can’t I send from my personal Gmail?
Email is a privileged means of communication. In case you have not allowed subscriber confirmation and just using emails collected here and there as your subscriber list.
Then you send them an email using your Gmail inbox.
The person doesn’t like being spammed. He flags your email as spam. You run the real risk of running into trouble with your Gmail account Since your personal Gmail account is linked to many essential services this can be a catastrophe.
What if you use any other subscription option?
No problem.Ensure that it’s reaching the inbox and not a spam folder.Ask your subscribers to whitelist your email.
(Remember to whitelist my previous email which I sent last week.Otherwise, you will be missing important notifications.)
If you don’t whitelist you will not receive my email and you won’t be able to complete tasks.
Why doesn’t MailChimp send you notifications?
You have to enable it on your dashboard while making your list .Try subscribing to your own newsletter after you have checked all the boxes appropriately.
Where should your subscriber box be kept?
The purpose of your Blog’s home page and main landing pages should be focussed on one very important thing.
To make your reader love your content and want to subscribe to it.For that, the subscription box should be above the fold. That is it should be visible without the reader having to scroll down.
Three things you need o remember .
- One popup boxes are effective for some useless for some.
- They can increase Blog load time.
- If you have a welcome mat with not content above the fold, that’s not a good signal to the Google Search engine.
What are the best practices for collecting emails?
Always ask your subscribers to optin by confirming subscription.
What should you send and how frequently?
Check and tweak. Most bloggers suggest once a week, but it will depend on your content and what you are sending.
Why should you even care?
This one is the most difficult one.It again comes down to what you want to do with your blog.If you are happy just the way it is.Great.If not, then watch the video.Ask your questions in the comment section. You can also comment by opening this video on Youtube.
