Indian Gooseberry is a wonderberry.Aamalaki is the Bengali name and Aamla the Hindi one.One amla is equal to 20 times the Vitamin C of an orange!.Best part its cheap.It’s tart fruit with a beautiful green colour packed full of antioxidant goodness.The Vitamin C , polyphenols and flavonoids give it its superpowers.
Its supposed to be a part of the Amrit which spilled on the earth accidentally.It claims to cure every disease.Every, is a tad too much ,but it does have some pretty amazing effects.No wonder it has rightly been called the wonderbery.

We get a delicious dried aamlaki in West Bengal which is pretty tasty.Fresh it can be added to your salad.Many people advice you to take it with warm water first thing in the morning, It’s not good, if you have an acidity problem.Empty stomach vitamin C helps to improve your bowel movements, make you feel full and lessen hunger pangs throughout the day.

Since this is a rich source of Vitamin C, it makes the fruit acidic. If you suffer from GERD or severe acidity you have to think about a different way of taking this fruit
How much Vitamin C do you need daily?
The normal daily need of vitamin C for a healthy person is 50–100 mg per day(6).Its a water soluble vitamin(Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C are water soluble, A, D,E, K are fat soluble ).This means it’s not stored in the body and daily intake is important to keep your immunity high.
Amla has 600mg of Vitamin C per 100gram.
